Beautiful property in a sleepy village
We stayed at this stunning property for the last week in August and had a fantastic stay. We were two families of three, with two 15yr-old boys and dogs! The house is absolutely fabulous, beautiful and large bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and dining room and surrounded by fantastic gardens.
The weather was unfortunately a little hit and miss, but on the warm sunny days we had a great time hanging out by the pool, playing boules etc. The boys borrowed the bikes and took themselves off to the football pitch just down the road in the village to make use of the goals and then came back and spent time in the pool.
The house is in the village of Vouhé which is very sleepy and doesn’t have any shops. The nearest town for bigger supermarkets and restaurants is Parthenay about 15 minutes away by car. As long as you’re organised this works fine. Although it was a little disappointing not to have easy access to a local boulangerie for morning bread and the most local bakeries were sold out of croissants by 8am so we had to go further afield.
A learning for us was that many of the restaurants were closed as owners were on their summer holiday! So there were limited choices where we could go that would take dogs and were open! We did enjoy an evening at La Citadelle in Parthenay. Also be aware that you must book restaurants on a Sunday; many places are closed and those that are open are busy!
A wonderfully relaxing and peaceful break and Ian and Amanda always available on WhatsApp.
