Lovely cottage very close to the harbour in quiet location
A really lovely cottage in a very quiet location and also very close to the harbour, rail and bus stations and shops and restaurants. The beds were very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Can honestly say it is the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in and I would definitely return.
Had a great week and the cottage and the location was perfect…
Colin kept in touch making sure everything was fine with our holiday, definitely will be booking again
Lovely cottage with great outdoor courtyard and great location
Lovely cottage, clean with good facilities - good shower and comfy beds!
We loved the location and outside courtyard was great . Would definitely recommend and would stay again if returning to Whitby
Colin is the perfect host, always on hand by messaging/email within minutes with any queries.
Really cosy, spacious cottage very close to the harbour.
Just wish we had been able to get booked in for more than 2 nights in hindsight. Whitby is delightful 😍
Had a really great short stay at Gulls Cry.
The cottage is fantastic. Very comfortable and superbly renovated. The cottage is in a great location - very central but equally nice and quiet.
Colin was superb - provided lots of help and local information.
Would love to stay again and can definitely recommend.
Great location for exploring Whitby - close to everything. Great communication with the property owner, and the sun house was a really nice surprise. Beautifully renovated and comfortable home. Would definitely stay there again.
The cottage was fantastic and Colin was very helpful, with recommendations of places to eat and things to do, the cottage was immaculate, well equipped with everything you would need and very convenient in the centre of Whitby, I can highly recommend
Home from home cottage right in the middle of Whitby with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Excellent communication and information from host before and during stay. Only small negative is the parking which is on street with a permit - probably easy to find a spot normally but it was the busiest week of the year when we visited due to the Regatta and Folk week which made it a little challenging. Central location great for walks along the coast and visits to York and Dalby Forest
The cottage was beautiful it was extremely well equipped

Gulls cry is beautiful, spotlessly clean and has every thing you might need. From tv’s in all the bedrooms to a beer fringe in the summer house.
Courtyard was a lovely, close to everything that Whitby has on offer.

Absolutely perfect little cottage, really quiet but centrally located in Whitby so walking distance to a wide range of restaurants, walking, sightseeing and shops.
Possibly on the small side for 6 adults but as an adult family of 4 it suited us perfectly. The photos do not do it justice, we had a wonderful time and were provided with plenty of information to make the most of our stay ,will definitely be visiting again.

This is a must stay, when looking for a Cottage in Whitby, Thanks Colin
This was a great place for us to base ourselves from and was a lovely place to come back to after some long days of walking. The owners are very responsive and easy to communicate with, which is important. The cottage itself was very clean and well kept and had all the bits and pieces you could need. We would definitely stay again
We loved our stay in Gulls Cry Cottage
There was a lack of bath towels but that didn’t spoil or stay at all. We loved the fire and a well equipped kitchen thank you
What a perfect little hideaway for enjoying a weekend in Whitby! Spotless accommodation, cosy with it, brilliant location, great outdoor space and everything you could need. Can’t recommend highly enough. Colin was a first class host and we couldn’t have asked for something better suited for three good friends getting together for a weekend after too many years apart!
Great central location with wonderful outside space. A little private oasis. Close to everything we needed and a short walk to the harbour. Fish and chips were absolutely amazing. Best we’ve ever had. Thank you Colin for the use of your beautiful home.

About the host
Hosted by Colin
After visiting Whitby as a boy with my parents many times it became a Boyhood dream of owning an Old Fishermans Cottage in Whitby. This came to fruition in 2010 when buying a "VERY" rundown dilapidated Cottage. After many frustrating months/years nearly, also filled with enjoyment and huge learning curves the refurbishment of Gulls Cry was complete and as we see and enjoy it today.
Why they chose this property
A traditional 360yr old Fishermans Cottage that was originally 2 Cottages, now knocked into one to make quite a spacious Holiday Cottage. The refurbishment was designed and executed by myself and a 78 year old Master Craftsman who still works today at over 84 and took 18mths to complete. No attention to detail was overlooked making it a Superb Cottage for your special stay in Whitby.
What makes this property unique
Close to everything Central in Whitby yet tucked away for privacy when you get tired of the hustle & bustle. Lovely private outside space which most Cottages do not have and a little summer House to sit and relax in. Large screen LED TV with Firestick / Wifi throughout & Alexa controlled lounge lighting Refurbished to a very high standard, modern yet in traditional style with bespoke oak double glazing.
