Everything as expected in the woodsy cabin experience. A bit of a musty odor but there had been lots of rain and property was clean. Perfect for our 3 day adventures not far from Anchorage
We spent 5 nights at Alaska Creek Side Cabins, Serenity Cabin which is located about halfway between Palmer and Wasilla, AK. Instructions on how to get to the cabin were sent by our host and the key was on the kitchen table when we arrived. Though in a rural area it has good access to both town’s amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants, museums, Independence mine near Hatchet pass and interesting agricultural countryside surrounded by lovely mountains. The cabin was very clean had a separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen-living room and deck from which we had beautiful late night sunsets. It was well supplied with kitchen utensils, towels, and a nice fireplace for heat. When the microwave died our host, Diane, brought another the same day. The major complaint was not the cabin but its location. My husband is a fly fisherman and he chose the cabin because it was called Creek Side and the photos implied such. But in reality the creek was down a large bluff and we had no access to it, which was a large disappointment for my husband. The way the photos were shot appeared like it was creekside when it was not. We felt it was a little deceptive.
I was nervous about sending my husband, son and brother in law to alaska by themselves but Diane made it so easy! She was very accommodating. Any time they had a question she was only a phone call away and even brought them these moose sticks that they loved. Thanks Diane for taking care of my boys 😊
Clean and quiet location. Owner communication was fast.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Communication, location
All was doable until we saw the true side of the owners
The cabin is fine, everything you need. We didn’t do well with the water there it needs some work it being well water.
Not as private as I thought, your next to two other cabins and can’t easily access the creek which is hardly flowing anyhow.
The mosquitos were relentless .
Now for the worst thing…
A kitten found us, I asked Diane if she knew anything about it or if she knew any rescues.. she said she didn’t care what we did with IT as long as we didn’t bring it into the cabin, said that her neighbor has cats and won’t do anything about it .. I told her we’re going to get her taken care of. We decided that we were going to bring her home, which would help there “problem” in the best way. Diane asked our plans twice , knowing we’d be gone All day on a cruise. While we were gone , her husband John came and took the kitten in what was clearly not a friendly way. Evidence actually suggest she was handled roughly and likely killed as there was a trail of feces and tufts of hair that were poorly kicked off the porch. I had to clean that up and was deeply upset the rest of the trip feeling uncomfortable that happened it was completely unnecessary and completely infringed my privacy.. you cannot see onto the porch unless you come up on it . There was NO reason he should have been there while we were gone . The listing says PRIVATE deck. I asked Diane if she if she knew what happened and she said that “her husband saw the issue and took care of it” . I’ve asked for proof a few times as she said “he took it to a friends” BS. I didn’t get a leaving text , no proof, nothing . She accused me twice of feeding strays . Although she never said that was an issue just don’t bring her in, I was feeding the kitten that we were Going To Bring Home, she wouldn’t leave that porch and never pooped or peed anywhere near the property, she would go off the porch and that was the only time she’d go off, we gained her trust for John to come and take advantage of that with complete cruelty . I was respectful, held my toungue. It’s been nearly a week after and nothing . I imagine she thought once we left she could forget about it. You’re wrong Diane. You and your husband are a fraud and do not deserve what you have. All of that was completely unnecessary and unacceptable . I gave what supplies we had to your neighbor who thinks your good friends by the way while you LIE , gave him a rescues number you’re welcome . You&your husband are a joke.
We loved our 3-day stay and wish we could have staid much longer! We will definitely come back. We saw a moose, a bald Eagle, and other wild life while we were there.
Clean inside, enough hot water, great kitchen and cooking implements. The main bedroom had a comfy queen bed. Two upstairs beds one comfortable, one not so much. Must be agile to get upstairs via a ladder. Good view from main window, seating on deck needs a little TLC. Overall convenient to lots of hiking and other places to visit. We had a great time.
Absolutely beautiful views and a great little cabin for us to stage our adventures from. Remote enough to feel separated from the city but close enough to go explore them if we wanted to. Just and amazing experience.
Enjoyed my stay quiet peaceful and a very comfortable bed. I’m not sure if the porch light was out but couldn’t find one. Would’ve liked a washer and dryer but found one close by. I would rent this property again in the future.
Even though I am from abroad and don't have American number, communication was very smooth and the host was very helpful. Cabin was clean and cozy, great location. Would go stay there again!
Enjoyed comfort and privacy here. Easy drive from Anchorage and to Denali excursion. Diane our host was readily available if we needed anything but respected our privacy. Clean, modern cabin with Alaskan rustic decor. Would stay here again.
This home was the perfect base for our exploration of the Wasilla / Palmer / Talkeetna area. After a full day of activity it was wonderful to unwind in the quiet homey atmosphere. Definitely recommend for adults or families.

Stunning Cabin, Stunning View
We recently took a trip to Wasilla and due to family changes, had to find a place to stay at the last minute. We stumbled upon Alaska Creekside Cabins and made the reservation. Our arrival was delayed due to the airlines and by the time we arrived it was almost midnight. The driving directions were spot on and made it simple to find the place, even in the dark.
The first thing we noticed upon arrival was how clean the cabin was. I'm a pretty big neat freak and could easily walk through the cabin barefoot without stepping in any dirt or crumbs (and my feet stayed clean!). The entire property was pristine and clearly well maintained. Our visit was only 4 nights but we wish it could have been longer. Everything worked properly. The bed was extremely comfortable. Even the towels were soft and reminded us of an upscale hotel. The pantry was stocked with a few food items and it was clear the owners had taken time in advance to think of every contingency. Thank you for providing such a relaxing haven for us! We will be repeat customers, for sure!

Nice little cabin for a weekend getaway for 2, but not for 4.
We enjoyed our private and cozy cabin, but the "extra" guests fee was outrageous for what you get. We had 4 people (2 couples) and it was too small and I did not enjoy going up and down the very steep ladder to the loft area. No privacy and very little seating for 4 of us in the living room. No dishwasher and guests are required to put their own dishes away at the end of the stay - but it seems these are not inspected. I had to re-clean dishes in the cupboard as it looked like someone before us had done a poor job of getting rid of strawberry ice cream. Overall, not impressed for what we paid. We did get to see a moose right in the yard which made the trip. There are lots of things to do in Wasilla and Palmer (we enjoyed the fair, Matanuska Glaicer, and Hatcher Pass). There are no hiking trails from the cabin; the description and pictures make you think this is far out in the woods, but it is not.

So much better than a hotel room!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. When comparing the rate we got to available hotels in the area, it was a no brainer! We had a lovely view and were just a short distance from town. We had a full kitchen, a terrific view, and a lot of small touches that made us smile from the minute we walked in the door. We would definitely stay here again. The owner was very responsive by phone and a pleasure to speak with. You'll love your stay!

About the host

My husband John and I, Diane, have lived in Alaska , on Cottonwood Creek, since 1995. I believe we offer something very unique within the Matsu Valley, as we are located on a salmon spawning creek, as designated by AK Fish & Game . We offer the convenience of being only minutes from downtown Wasilla or Palmer, yet the seclusion most people are looking for. As locals with knowledge of the community, our objective is to diligently assist you in meeting your vacation goals, while making sure you are as comfortable as possible with your lodging. We love Alaska & love to share our knowledge of this great state too!
What makes this property unique
View the Talkeetna mountains and the returning salmon from your own private deck! Our location offers seclusion, yet convenience with Palmer & Wasilla both being only 7 miles drive.
