We had a blast. Large yard, fairly close to Ohiopyle activities. As the owner said the property is “a work in progress” so hopefully there will be central air at some point. But overall very comfortable. Would recommend to others.
The house was impeccably clean, which we very much appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked. The house itself is comfortable. We were very interested to read the history of the property in the binder we found in the living room. The grounds and creek were fun to explore, and our son caught (and released) a Brook Trout. Hearing the babbling creek from the back porch was lovely.

Ups and Downs
Prior our stay the owner was not very quick at responding to messages with questions and did not respond to emails either. Once we were at the rental the owner was quick to respond to our call/request. We were disappointed that the rental is right off of a road and has visible neighbors. We were under the impression that the rental was on 8 acres and secluded. The overall house was clean but there were spiders and cobwebs every where and a musty/mildew smell. There were small things like no clocks, no Kleenex, no extra blankets, and no extra towels that were bothersome. But there were also safety concerns such as an exposed electrical outlet and broken railings on the spiral staircase that were a bigger issue. However, we made the best of it and did in fact enjoy our week long stay. The initial disappointment faded through the week and we were able to enjoy the sound of the stream, fire ring, hummingbirds, woods, and get away. We also loved seeing what the property and structures used to look like in an album and hope that the current owner(s) will maintain them in the years to come. This rental property truly is a treasure and quite unique.
We loved our weekend at Hummingbird Retreat! Had excellent encounter with property manager. Very unique property with a rich history and a beautiful outdoor landscape. Our batteries are recharged! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Upon arriving, I was very disappointed. Pictures of the overall home and property were deceiving online because many parts of the property were not shown in the pictures. The outside was in need of upkeep, like the “curbside appeal”, the gazebo, and the island fire pit. Once inside though, I was instantly at ease because of its cleanliness. We had all the comforts of home, and the house’s uniqueness made us all smile. We really enjoyed the back porch, the yard, and the sound of the stream. Overall, fun and relaxation was had by all.
property was great. looked forward to no WiFi for a weekend, however, wasn't prepared for no cell service. a dryer would have been helpful to dry towels after swimming in creek. very thoughtful to have games and kids toys provided for down time. we had some rain, but the large covered porch made it still a good time.
My family had a great time at this beautiful home. Only 25 minutes from WVU where we attended a football game. Great coffee shop about 7 miles away called Bittersweet cafe...well worth the trip! The house was cozy and spacious. Only downside was that there was no cell phone service.
Our family all met at Hummingbird Retreat for the weekend. Fortunately weather was nice for us to enjoy the stream, deck and various bridges and outbuildings the original owners had built. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had all that we needed and we even got to enjoy a fire in one of the two fire pits. The only down side was no cell service and land line would only let us call locally. We look forward to another visit here in the future.

Beautiful property, quiet, and peaceful.
We got everything we wanted out of our stay. Some people fished, some took pictures on the beautiful property/stream, and we were able to grill out and have a nice fire in the evenings. The house is very unique, and is a great place to unwind at the end of a great day outside. We will definitely be finding some time to make a return trip!

A lovely secluded location in the Laurel Highlands
This location was just beautiful. The stream was amazingly lively. The house was overall comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness. I had to clean food off the outside table and I won’t talk about the condition of the grill. It was not at all cleaned from the last use. Needless to say we left the property in better condition than we found it.
We found the covered bridge and the overlook onto the stream just beautiful. The grounds are extensive, and overalll pleasant.
We enjoyed the wood stove and left some wood behind for the next renter.
Thank you Lynne for a nice weekend.

Beautiful house, great yard, wonderful gazebo and overlook of stream.
The description of this house and property online do not do it justice. Everybody had a great time. You don't even need to leave the property to do fun things.

Great experience
Very unique property. Very secluded with many natural features. Plenty of wildlife to observe. Many hummingbirds were attracted to the feeders and were easily visible from the back porch. The house had everything we needed. A nice place to relax. It was close to good restaurants and Falling Water. Many recreational activities nearby such as rafting and hiking. We found the owner to be very accommodating. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

A Perfect Weekend Getaway!
Our group had the most wonderful time at the Hummingbird Retreat and exploring the Laurel Highlands area. There was plenty of room for us to feel comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well even with the summer heat and humidity after heavy rains. We loved learning about the property's history, and it was evident that every addition and project was built as a labor of love. If I find myself in this area again looking for a place to stay, I would return in a heartbeat.

Perfectly Peaceful
My family and I stayed at this wonderfully unique home last month. I'll first start by saying WE CANT WAIT TO COME BACK! We love the Ohiopyle area and wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten path so we could have some privacy and still be close to the park, only problem is- we didn't want to leave the house! The intricate architecture was a special treat that we were not expecting! Our favorite part being the bridge over the creek to sit and listen to the water flowing by. The house has a lot of space to lounge and relax. The yard is huge and offered us a ton of privacy and exploring time! We were only sad that we missed the opportunity to fish in the creek, and that we were too early for the hummingbirds that the lovely owner told us frequent the back porch.

Great low-key, caual retreat location convenient to Pittsburgh
We used the rental to an offsite retreat for our business. Rental was clean, spacious, cool and easy to get to from Pittsburgh. It was a bit warm outside to enjoy the stream, gazebo, and fire pit, but it was all quite picturesque! And true to claim, we enjoyed morning coffees on the covered deck while watching hummingbirds! Note that they have a land line but no internet and no cell coverage. If you're looking for a casual retreat location near Pittsburgh at an affordable price, take a look here. We would/will use again for this purpose.

Hummingbird Retreat is truly amazing. This was our second time staying there and it keeps getting better and better. Such a great place to stay. The creek and island outback is perfect for a little time away. Simply amazing, will definatley be back.
