About this property

Perfect for Couples, Friends, & Small Families. License #3051

We are excited to welcome you to Estes Park, our little piece of paradise. We hope to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience.

This unique rental has two separate cabins on one property, each with one bedroom, one bath, and living area. The larger "Smiling Elk" has a full modern kitchen with a wonderful gas stove, full bath, queen bed, sleeper sofa, washer/dryer, and a wood-burning fireplace. Free high-speed broadband internet. Use your own streaming apps. We provide all linens, towels, a stocked kitchen, and toiletries. The kitchen includes coffee, tea, paper goods, and all the dishes and cooking equipment you may need. There is also a crock pot so you can have dinner ready and waiting when you return from the day's activities. The photo of this cabin can be deceiving. The door on the left is the bedroom, and the door on the right is the living room. The bedroom is accessed from inside, and the exterior door is rarely used. In the past, this cabin may have been two units. During the warm months, we install a window air conditioner in the living room, and there is always a ceiling fan in the bedroom.

The smaller and adorable "Little Bear" has a partial kitchen (sink, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker), 3/4 bath with tiled shower, two twin beds, and a sleeper sofa. This cabin also has a flat-screen TV and free high-speed broadband internet.

This property is ideal for couples, friends, or small families. It is situated near the west side of town, with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park, yet only three miles from downtown. Several restaurants, coffee shops, miniature golf, and groceries are within walking distance. A free shuttle to downtown stops nearby every hour, so you could leave the driving to others and just enjoy the ride.

Enjoy a backyard BBQ on the gas grill, or visit nearby local's favorite Smokin' Dave's BBQ. Coffee on the Rocks is open early if you prefer to have your coffee prepared for you. All of these are just down the street and around the corner. Country Market has groceries, gas, and great ice cream. The well-known Bird & Jim restaurant is a short drive or walk, accessible without navigating the downtown traffic.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the Estes Park area and Rocky Mountain National Park, including local favorites, day hike suggestions, etc. Just give us a call before or during your stay. We want your vacation to be full of good memories, and will do what we can do to make that happen.

Please plan to bring your own reusable water bottles. Estes Park has award-winning water, and we hope you'll enjoy it's freshness. In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we discourage you from purchasing water in single-use plastic bottles.

If these cabins aren't available the dates you desire, please check out our other property that's right downtown - VRBO # 471009 - Riverwalk Loft Condos.

We look forward to being your hosts in Estes Park!

So cozy

My friends and I had a great time. We came for spring break and it was the most perfect layout. It was 4 people, me and my partner and our two friends. We were able to figure out the sleeping situation so easily. The location is beautiful and it’s so close to everything we needed.Absolutely recommend this place. My partner is excited to come back!

Happy travelers

We loved staying at the cabins, they were so cute, comfortable, and convenient as well as being so well stocked with items travelers need. The location was perfect for entrance to the park and also for shopping and restaurants. Having two couples, it was nice having two cabins.

Beautiful location and cabins

Tucked away with a beautiful mountain view. Very clean and functional, nicely decorated and comfortable. Stayed two nights in the main cabin while son and his girlfriend stayed in the smaller cabin. Was exactly as listed and would stay here again!

Best vacation ever!

This was the best vacation our family has ever had. The location was very convenient to downtown Estes Park as well as Rocky mountain national Park. The double cabins were the perfect situation for my wife and kids and I, and my mother and father-in-law that joined us on our trip it let us spend time together, while at the same time having our own space. Everything you could possibly need was already stocked in the cabins to include utensils, cookware, laundry supplies, etc. We would definitely like to stay here again in the future!

Great cabins with elk in the yard!

We loved the cabins! Far above our expectations. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. In the afternoon 7or 8 grazed and lounged in the yard next door. We will defiantly stay again and recommend them a to everyone! The hosts were great and responsive.

Perfect stay!

My partner and I were in Estes Park for the hiking mostly. This cabin was perfect for our needs. It was a great place to recharge after a long day on the trails. We appreciated the A/C in this cabin as it was very hot for the first part of our stay. We also appreciated the location as it is close to the park and to downtown. Scott and Karen were excellent hosts. SUPER communicative and gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat and how to avoid the construction downtown. Five stars. Would definitely stay again!

2 cabins - Perfect for a family with teens

We loved staying in these beautiful cabins for the week! The proximity to the park was key as we were able to quickly start our morning hikes or see sunrise and sunset and take an afternoon nap to recharge when needed. It was about 10 minutes to get through the park entrance and the Bear Lake timed entry check point, without traffic. The beds were comfortable and the cabins well stocked with everything we needed. Our daughter was able to take advantage of the trolley stop close by one day after shopping in Estes. The owners quickly responded to any questions we had leading up to our trip.

Perfect!

My sister, cousin and I loved our stay at the Little Bear cabins while we explored Rocky Mountain National Park and the Estes Park area. We especially liked the full kitchen, as we were able to cook together after a day of hiking and exploring. The cabins were quiet and the wifi worked well. Hope to stay again in the future!

Back again!

This was our second stay here, and it was excellent both times. The location could not be better for spending time in RMNP. The cabins are in a quiet location and are in great shape. We’ve had turkeys, deer and elk in the yard. The hosts are very friendly and unfailingly helpful. We will be back!

Loved it!

We really enjoyed our stay. The teens enjoyed having their own little cabin and staying up late to play games. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of having our own cabin. Everything was so clean which is extremely important to me. The location was perfect for getting to both Estes park in town and the RMNP. We would definitely stay again.

Rest and relax!

The location of the cabin is great! We found that we tried to stay as much as possible on the same side of town and avoided the busy downtown. Perfect access to RMNP and many restaurants as well. The cabin was extremely clean and welcoming. The owners are great at communicating and taking any feedback and implementing that feedback right away.

Great Getaway

We had a great time exploring Estes Park and these little cabins were so close to everything. My teenagers loved having a little of their own space in the evenings. The owners of these cabins have provided so much, we never didn’t have something we needed. My only suggestion is the mattresses could be updated to something more comfortable.

Clean inside but the outside could be better maintained

The property is in a very convenient location, having the two cabins was great because we brought two adult girls with us. The availabitly of having all kitchen cleaning supplies and a washer and dryer we're a great added benefit. Location was great and close to Rocky Mountain National Park Entrance and downtown but not in walking distance.

Lovely little cabin(s) in a great location

Everything about the rental was awesome. It's very fast and easy to get into the park, and you can take the back roads into town and avoid much of the town traffic as well. We did not use the little cabin, so cannot comment, but all the main cabin was well appointed and communication with the hosts was very easy and friendly. Be sure to check out the back seating area and the view.

About the host

Hosted by Scott and Karen Thompson

Host profile image
Scott and Karen Thompson live and work in Estes Park; Scott as a real estate consultant and Karen as Scott's assistant and rental property manager. We have lived in Estes Park twelve years, but like many, have been visiting the area since childhoood. We sincerely enjoy hosting guests from all over the world, and want to make sure they have great memories of their vacation here. The Estes Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park have so much to offer, and we are blessed to be able to live here year-round. Giving back to the community is important to us, and we especially enjoy volunteering for local events like the Estes Park Duck Race, Elk fest, and Catch the Glow Parade. We have two adult daughters and enjoy hiking and serving others in our spare time. The photo was taken from the summit of Longs Peak.

Why they chose this property

We do our best to provide our guests with very clean accommodations, and will go the extra mile to make your stay special. It is our desire to make your stay with us so enjoyable that you will return, and feel comfortable referring your friends and relatives to stay at Little Bear Cottages or Riverwalk Loft Condos (VRBO 471009). We truly appreciate your patronage, and hope we have met all your needs.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy your morning coffee on the east-facing front porch, soaking up the Colorado sunshine. With close to 300 days of sunshine a year and a sky more blue than you'll ever see (and thousands of stars by night), Estes Park is full of natural beauty. Events in town are just minutes away, and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is less than two miles away.

Having two separate cabins allows couples or friends to have private accommodations, while being able to share meals and relax in either cabin. Older children would enjoy being independent in their "own" cabin, while the parents can supervise from a short distance away (+-40 feet) in the main residence.
