About this property

Enjoy the quiet at Hog Heaven

We have taken these measures for your safety during the Covid 19 pandemic:

We have removed decorative bed linens and replaced them with linens that can be laundered with hot water and bleach. It may not look as woodsy, but we are thinking about our guests safety.

If you use any extra linens or the air mattresses, please leave them out so we may sanitize them.

We have cleaned and sanitized with antibacterial cleaners and bleach in all areas.

We have provided hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap.

Our mountain home sleeps 8 to 14 people . It is located at the end of a cul de sac and is bordered on two sides by the Black Hills National Forest. You can sit on the deck and hear the birds and watch the chipmunks play tag. Deer, turkey and coyotes are frequent visitors. This is the place to get away from it all and declare you are in Hog Heaven. This home features 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. There are two living areas as well as a full kitchen and dining area. The loft area features a master bedroom with king bed and bath with a walk in shower. The main level of the home has two bedrooms. One with a queen size bed and the other with a king size bed. The larger room has access to a private deck. The main floor bath room has a tub/shower combination. The kitchen and main living area are on this level. The sofa can be converted to a bed. There is a full kitchen and dining area with seating for 14. Most utensils and appliances are included along with some staple food items. French doors take you to the main deck where you can enjoy the best view for miles around. The lower level features a walk out deck with hammocks to enjoy a book or take a nap in the gentle breeze. The lower level bedroom features a king size bed. The lower level bath includes a tub/shower combination. Enjoy a movie and pop corn from the pop corn maker or play some board games or do a puzzle in the living area on this level. There are two queen sized air beds available also. A fire pit is located on the main level by the parking area. It has been sanctioned by the US Forest Service. Please use common sense when you use it according to the fire danger at the time you visit. Take a hike up the forest service trail and arrive at the top of the mountain for a view of the Hills that is hard to beat! We love our mountain get away and hope you will too.

Where the buffalo roam

We had a great time! We spent a lot of time on the offroad trails and made the wildlife loop where the buffalo were roaming. Awesome! Great House and location to relax and recoup from the day ride!

Great Location and Plenty of Space!

We loved our stay at Hog Heaven. We were two families with five kids ages 5-9 and four adults and had plenty of room for all of us. Great spaces indoors and out, the kids loved playing in the forest. The house had everything we needed and was in a peaceful location. We even had a big horn ewe pass through one morning! We had a few minor issues during our stay, but the host was very responsive and we got them resolved in a timely manner. No real cell service at the house (Verizon), which didn't bother us at all. There was wi-fi that worked just fine. We would definitely stay here again! The kids are very sad to be leaving their "crystal shop".

Absolutley Incredible Home

This home was absolutely perfect for our family vacation to the Black Hills region. It's a beautiful setting with great views from the patio and the fire pit is perfect for evenings. The home itself is incredible. Everything about it was top notch and it all felt brand new. Would highly recommend!

Love the cabin Love the location When booking the cabin I missed the part regarding no air conditioning, but the fans helped with that Nature left it’s scent so we were unable to use the lower level due to the smell, that would of also helped with having no air conditioning We would definitely stay there again

We love Custer and Hog Heaven Cabin

2 parents and 5 kids. We just finished a 5 night stay here and loved our first time visiting the Black Hills. We did all the usual stuff nearby and loved coming back to our cabin each night. Quiet and relaxing with amazing stars at night and lightning shows! The rock hill to the left of the cabin is so cool! It's an easy 5 minute hike but watch your step! Our favorite things: Horatio's Ice Cream ( we went 3 times), Black Hill Burger and Bun (so good!), Begging Burrow Mexican restaurant, Needles Hwy, Cathedral Spires hike, Rankin Ridge Hike in Wind Cave NP, Devils Tower and Mammoth Site. This is a beautiful cabin away from other people. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was stocked well with lots of basic needs. When we ran low on water, the truck was on its way when I called the property owner and he had us up and running again. Definitely would recommend Hog Heaven.

Secluded Cozy Home

We had four couples and everyone had their own space. We all enjoyed the scenery and location of this home the deck was everyone’s favorite. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. Our host was very helpful and responded to all our needs.

Thanksgiving 2021

We loved our stay at Hog Heaven. The pictures online do not do it justice. It is beautiful inside and out. It fells like home the minute you walk through the door. We spent Thanksgiving weekend here with our two grown children and it was perfect for us. It had everything we could ever need or want. Carol was super easy to work with and the cabin was so clean. We had such an amazing weekend out in the Black Hills (the weather was perfect too) and hope to come back and stay again sometime.

Beautiful location high in the black hills

This was a beautiful, well appointed home high in the black hills . The wrap around decks provide expansive views atop the pine trees. Perfect seclusion and black skies perfect for night star viewing.

Fun friend getaway!

We loved Hog Heaven! Great house and location for our group of friends. We loved the secluded location, roominess and great view. Full kitchen was appreciated as we had breakfast and dinner at the house. The firepit was perfect for us to sit around in the evening and relax after hiking all day. Close to Custer State Park, many hiking trails, tourist attractions, food and drinks. We were even able to hike up to watch the sunrise. Breathtaking! And so appreciated that our dog was able to stay with us.

Wrong time

There was snowfall a couple days before we arrived and because it did not get plowed we couldn't make up the hill where the place was at. We had to fork out a couple hundred bucks for a hotel room. We got ahold of Carol who got ahold of her neighbor to plow. We got there and we had to do a couple hours of shoveling. 3 of the guys I was with either had recent surgery or not in good shape so I did most of it. The storm also wiped out the internet so we did not have that. Carol said she would contact VRBO for a days worth paid back but I have not heard back.

About the host

We have always loved the Black Hills and finally decided to purchase our own private get away. Our children and grandchildren enjoy sharing this home with us. We are farmers in eastern SD. This way we have the best of several worlds.

Why they chose this property

This property met all the check marks on our list for a home in the Hills and it was a long list. We think the builder must have been reading our minds when they built this home.

What makes this property unique

There is no better place to put your feet up and relax than on the deck. Enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the birds. Have a steak on the grill for dinner and enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the stars come out. The view of the Milky Way in August makes you feel like you are living in the stars.
