About this property

North Shore Lighthouse Suites ~ Anderson Suite~With Sauna and Outdoor Fire Pit

The North Shore Lighthouse Suites are completely finished and now have new saunas. The building was a model of a lighthouse in Copper Harbor Michigan. Prior to our purchase of the property, in the fall of 2014, the building served as a quaint nautical themed restaurant.

♦ ♦ We now have an outdoor sauna....one for each suite. See the pictures ♦ ♦

It has now become two very spacious living quarters with all the comforts of home and more. Each unit has been named after two infamous Lake Superior Ships, the Fitzgerald and the Anderson. Each suite offers large master bedrooms with spacious bathrooms, including whirlpool tubs. The additional bedroom is also spacious and comfortable. The open floor plan for the kitchen and living room make it perfect for your group to unwind after a long day exploring the North Shore. Along with the cozy gas fireplaces, you will find your own large private patio. Equipped with furniture and gas grill. You will also find massive fire pits that will seat everyone in your group. No need to bring firewood, that is supplied free of charge. Need to do laundry? No problem, we have a washer and dryer conveniently located in each suite.

We can supply you maps of beautiful hiking trails with hidden waterfalls when you book with us. We are working on other "perks" as well.

For our winter guests there is the Korkki Nordic Ski trail a few miles from our suites and also a state snowmobile trail

Big groups or families can rent out both suites to accommodate up to 12 people!

Beautiful place to stay!
I can only say good things about this place. It was very clean, stocked with everything you need, was easy to get to, not to mention beautiful! The owner was more than easy to work with, and we had no problems with anything. The house was spacious with more than enough room for 4. It was nice that the bedrooms were on opposite sides of the house, which offered privacy. I would not hesitate booking this place again!

What an excellent space! It was better than advertised! Extremely spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The space was very clean. The outdoor space was excellent with the sauna and fire pit. Our kids loved sleeping in a lighthouse. The best part though was the location! 20 minutes from both Duluth and Two Harbors makes it the perfect spot to adventure north or hit the shops and restaurants on the canal! Overall, such a fun and comfortable spot!

Weekend Getaway
I booked the Anderson Suite for a weekend getaway with my best friend to surprise her for her birthday. When we pulled up, my bestie was SO excited and couldn’t stop talking about how amazing everything was. The lighthouse and the decor around the suite was beautiful and it was a large space. We definitely didn’t need that much space for the two of us, but it was a nice change from us usually staying in hotels. The suite was very clean and had everything we needed. The directions for check out and how to use the amenities were easy to understand, and the sauna was a dream. Communication with Kathy was quick and she was great to work with. The suite is about 20 minutes from Two Harbors, so it was easy to go in and out of town while staying in a quiet area. I am planning to stay again in the future and my best friend also talked about using both suites for family vacation. It was lovely, and just the thing we both needed for our relaxing weekend. Thank you, Kathy, for the incredible experience!

Perfect Location
When we visit the North Shore, we're active. We like to hike and enjoy nature. We also like to visit Canal Park and other parts of Duluth. The Lighthouse Suites are perfectly positioned between Duluth and Two Harbors. You're 20 minutes out of Duluth and about 15 from Two Harbors. Great outdoor area with a patio and a fire pit. Not to mention a Sauna. We stayed in the Anderson Suite and it worked perfectly for 2 couples.

Family weekend
We had a wonderful weekend even with the pouring rain. We were in town for a wedding and wanted to extend the weekend a bit. The home was exactly as described, very clean and well stocked with anything we needed during our stay. Beds were comfortable, linens were great and we never heard any noise from our neighbors in the unit next door. Even though there were 2 units on the property they did a very nice job of creating privacy for them both. With the crummy weather the sauna was a nice perk and we look forward to coming back in better weather to enjoy the outdoor space even more.

There was absolutely no stone unturned when the owners designed, furnished & stocked our suite! There wasn’t a thing missing that we could have possibly wanted! It was secluded, yet convenient to everything we wanted to see in the area! So glad for the last-minute cancellation by someone else that made it possible for us to enjoy this gem of a place!

Great North Shore getaway
This was a perfect home base for a long weekend trip to the north shore. The property had everything our family needed and plenty of space for the 5 of us. We really enjoyed the fire pit with endless firewood in our private side yard. The North Shore Scenic Railroad runs about 100 yards away - the kids liked watching and waving to the train as it made an evening run. All in all it’s a great property for a stay in the Duluth/Two Harbors area. Very clean, well appointed, and well maintained.

Well-maintained property, central location, easy access to both North Shore hwy’s. Kitchen is well equipped and we didn’t really hear much from our vacation neighbors in the adjoining suite. Great private fire pit, plenty of firewood. They’ve thought of everything to make this place nice and comfortable. I’d stay again and bring more family for a total takeover of the lighthouse!

Perfect base for Duluth and North Shore Stay
We were looking for a base camp for 2 couples for 4 days/3 nights of waterfall visits and time in Duluth. So very glad we stayed at the Lighthouse Suites. Everything promised in the ad was delivered. We inquired about an early checkin and a speedy response from the owner confirmed that would work. Location is convenient to Duluth and just off Hwy 61. 2 bedrooms with king beds worked perfect. Great location between Duluth and Grand Marias.
The property was very comfortable and accommodating. We loved the sauna after hiking. All was nice and organized in the rooms. My only suggestion was the seating was not great (comfortable) for everyone to sit and watch TV. ELSE..it was great. We wanted to relax together after being on the go and hiking all day. ONLY suggestion!

We are business owners in Duluth MN. Every year we take our kids on a family vacation and rent through VRBO. It was a perfect fit for us because we didn't like being crammed in a small hotel room with 5 kids or the expense of getting 2 hotel rooms. We always talked about opening up a vacation rental and when the old Lighthouse Restaurant was for sale we knew exactly what we wanted to do with it!

Why they chose this property

The North Shore Lighthouse Suites are located between Duluth and Two Harbors, 150 yards from the shores of Lake Superior. This unique building was built in 2007 as a quaint nautical themed restaurant. When the business closed it's doors we were were able to purchase it with one thing in mind, to create one of the most unique and incredible places to stay on the North Shore.

What makes this property unique

We were able to take the wide open space of the building and sculpt it into 2 spacious suites. This allow us to rent them separately or together for large groups or families.

Our guests love the fact they can have lots of room to gather and relax in stead of hanging out in a hotel room.

The North Shore scenic railroad runs near the suites. The tracks are used for entertainment only
