About the area
Branchport
Located in Branchport, this cottage is on a lake. Arts Center of Yates County and Oliver House Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Hunt Country Vineyards and Heron Hill Winery. Make sure you get close to the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
When my friend and I decided we wanted to explore the Finger Lakes, we looked for a cottage directly on a lake. Well, you couldn't ask for closer proximity to the lake! We loved the rustic feel, and the sound of the water lapping at night. We would definitely book again!
My sister and I had a wonderful time at this cottage on beautiful Keuka Lake! We enjoyed sitting on the dock in the morning drinking coffee, swimming during the day, and going for ice cream in the evenings. It was the perfect vacation! Ted and Becky are wonderful hosts and we shared our histories of summers on the lake!
This cabin reminded me of a fishing cabin I used to go to in Canada with my family when I was a kid. The cabin is small and rustic with a low ceiling in part of it and we loved it! You couldn't be any closer to the water and it had a dock for your own water toys or you can use their 12' boat. We brought our 5HP outboard and had a blast with the little boat. There are some really good wineries and breweries close by, Abandon Brewery, Heron Hill winery to name a couple. As we boated around the lake, we realized that this is largely a vacation spot for people with a lot of money, but this little cabin had everything you would need to enjoy the Keuka Lake and the Finger Lakes area without breaking the bank.
We enjoyed our time at this cabin, it was a great location and good accommodation with excellent communication with the hosts! We would stay here again!
It was more than expected. The dock was awesome. The water was perfect. Neighborhood was nice and neighbors were friendly. Events to do were fun. Had an overall great time
The size of this cottage was perfect for us. The location was beautiful and picturesque. Made great morning memories of having coffee on the dock while taking in the scenery. The area was quiet and serene so it was easy to relax and enjoy. Everything was perfect for my first post-retirement vacation and it was greatly appreciated.
Charming quaint cottage that was perfect for our little family. Loved that it was right on water and kids were able to play. Only downside was having to bring our own linens etc. We have a small car so it was a tight fit. But glad i brought blankets bc nights were cold. Would definitely return.
This little cabin was in a great location in a wonderful and quiet neighborhood. Bring your fishing pole. Communication with the property owner Ted was easy and enjoyable. We will be back!!!
SMALL AND TIDY COTTAGE WITH MANY PERSONAL TOUCHES. VERY EASY ACCESS TO LAKE. GRANDKIDS HAD A FUN TIME WITH PADDLE BOAT, FISHING AND FEEDING THE DUCKS. OWNER WANTED TO BE SURE WE HAD A GOOD TIME AND WAS EASILY ACCESSIBLE. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING.

The views and proximity to the water are the only things that made our stay good. The boathouse/bathhouse/garage turned into cottage has 1/3 of it with no more than a 5’9” head clearance, including the dining area, hallway and bathroom. Not mentioned anywhere, even in any of the posted glowing reviews! My 6’3” husband had to bend over or hit his head on beams the whole time! Makes me wonder if only hobbits rented it previously. The bathroom and shower vent into the rest of the cottage, and the “door” to the bathroom is only about 16” wide, and does not cover the whole entrance, doing nothing to keep bathroom smells in the bathroom. The living room, with the queen bed, has no way to darken the room, so when the sun comes up at 6 AM, you’d better be ready to get up. The neighbors’ house, which is literally 3’ away, was being remodeled, so we had circular saws and hammering the whole time. The other house on the property, which is much larger, had all the parking spaces across the road filled when we got there so we were glad we only brought one small car, which is all that will fit in the driveway-our truck would not have fit. The row boat was full of water (we bailed it out and turned it over), there was no chaise lounge to be found. The neighbors, who drastically outnumbered us, had the paddle boat. The stairs to the beach were rickety and unlit. Missing rocks on the wall, overgrown vegetation, missing lights all screaming for attention. This was honestly my most disappointing rental in over 20 years with VRBO!
The cottage is rustic and quaint. There are plenty of lamps for evening reading. Plenty of fans to add breezesThere are plenty of windows to open to add cross breezes. The view fromthe back door which leads to the patio is gorgeous! There is a nice size round table and 4 chairs with an umbrella. You can walk out onto the pier and sit in 2 Adirondack chairs which are at the end of the pier. At night the pier is well lit and looks welcoming. There were ducks paddling near the shore and honking. We wanted to relax and that is just what we did. It’s not far from homemade ice cream place. We bought some items at a local supermarket. We intend to return! Also, the owners are great to deal with.
This was the most quaint and cozy cottage! It had everything you could possibly need while camping. The location was beautiful as it is directly on Keuka Lake. The neighborhood is very pleasant and peaceful. It is Iike a ten minute drive to Penn Yann. The host was most helpful in providing a packet with all the local stores and restaurants. He also provided a list of sites to see around the area. He was very pleasant and most courteous to deal with. I would highly recommend staying at the Pickerel Inn. I plan to go back again myself!
What a wonderful gorgeous view in a rustic lakefront cottage. The owner prepared the most excellent welcome packet and was a joy to deal with. Unforgettable weekend!
Great lake views from a wonderful cottage with a good lake front patio and dock. Good location near to Penn Yan, Hammondsport, and lots of great wineries. The host was very responsive and thoroughly answered all my questions. We had a very nice stay.
This is the perfect spot for a getaway. The two of us both enjoyed it very much. Fishing is great, lake and views are beautiful. The cottage was exactly what we needed. Would definitely do it again. Karen Z
We really enjoyed our stay at the Pickerel Inn!! We were looking for a quiet, restful place to getaway. Although the cottages were very close together, the plantings between them gave us the privacy we needed, plus we had great neighbors. We enjoyed being right on the water, watching the ducks that came to visit everyday, the birds (even eagles) and all the boating activity on the lake.
Ted was great to work with! He was always available for questions. We felt right at home!!

Love the lake , house is just right for me
Great fishing, house a little small hit my head a couple times on ceiling. Would be to small to bring family down .
Loved hearing the waves at night! A full moon was shining! The cottage was funky but clean. Private small deck on the water.
It had a very comfortable bed!
Usually in cottages the beds are the worst!
Not this cottage! Nice romantic get away!

About the host
Hosted by Ted & Rebecca Hall
The Hall Family has been at the Branchport end of Keuka Lake since the 1920's. Five generations have had the opportunity to enjoy boating, fishing and seasonal activities on Keuka Lake. It all started with our Great Grandfather, George W. Hall and his cottage and troutboat rentals at Campbell's Beach, now Camp Good Days. He is one of the featured boatbuilders at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport. We spend as much time as we can at Crescent Beach, but enjoy that our lakeside cottage is available at other times to both returning and new guests. We have rented our cottages since 1994.
Why they chose this property
450 Crescent Beach, "The Pickerel Inn" is located right on the water and the scenic 12 mile view to the south, is a favorite memory of all who have stayed at the cottage.
