About this property

Villa Maria self-contained luxury guesthouse in the heart of the Barossa

Built in 1910, Villa Maria is an elegantly proportioned villa that has been tastefully refurbished with all modern conveniences. The villa offers three comfortable, luxurious rooms, each with ensuite. A fourth couple can also be accommodated.

Located in one of the truly historical precincts of Tanunda, the house is only metres from Goat Square, (Zeigenmarket) the site of a mid 19th century farmers market, and original town centre of what became Tanunda, where many of the town’s oldest dwellings remain in well-maintained original condition. On Sunday mornings the peeling of the church bells from the nearby historical Langmeil church will be heard. This old Lutheran Church, built in the 1880s stands on the site of the original 1846 church built by pioneer Pastor Kavel’s Silesian parishioners. Villa Maria is situated deep in the heart of old Barossa.

Facilities include:
Free wifi
Integrated sound / entertainment system and 65cm smart TV, all accessed via wall-mounted Ipad
Ducted R/C air conditioning
Three bedrooms, each with luxury ensuite bathroom featuring heated floors
Luxury king-sized beds, which can be reconfigured into two singles
Kitchen furnished with high-end appliances including Smeg Pyrolytic Oven, Miele Dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and fridge with water and ice dispenser
Quality stainless steel saucepans, cutlery, crockery, Riedel wine glasses
Complementary bottle of ‘Otherness’ hand-made Barossa wine
Quality hair driers, steam irons
Full laundry facilities
Peaceful landscaping

Tanunda’s main thoroughfare Murray Street is as cosmopolitan as it gets in the Barossa. Don’t expect flashing neon, but do anticipate a choice of several great cafés, bakeries and highly regarded restaurants. Tanunda is also a great central place to base yourself as you embark on an exploration of the Barossa’s amazing vinous and culinary adventures.

On returning to your lodgings after a day of wine tasting, Tanunda township offers opportunities to unwind as you mosey along Murray Street, lingering in classy boutiques such as Alabaster Store, Ironstone Cottage or one of the state’s great remaining bookshops, Raven’s Parlour, where enthusiastic staff will happily make holiday-reading recommendations.

And then out for a special dinner. New restaurants such as Musque and old favourites 1918 and fermentAsian provide culinary excitement and a celebration of locally grown ingredients and special bottles of wine.

Within an easy walk of this cultural hub, Tanunda’s newest luxury accommodation facility, Villa Maria represents an obvious choice.
After arising from an invigorating luxury slumber and whilst deciding which wineries or local markets to visit during the day, you might enjoy cooking up the contents of Villa Maria’s breakfast basket. These include rashers of Barossa smoked bacon, fresh free-range eggs and wood-fired bread from Apex Bakery. Continental breakfast options such as muesli and cereal are also supplied. A Nespresso machine will provide an immediate pick-me-up, whilst those craving a more serious solution to their morning caffeine cravings can wander down to Murray Street and slake your thirst at a number of fine coffee providores including Darling’s Food with Passion Café and Keil’s Fine Food with Coffee.

Outrageously gorgeous.
This beautiful house comfortably accommodated 3 couples. 3 bedrooms, each with en-suites. Spacious kitchen & living area overlooking a gorgeous garden. The location was so good. One street from the Main Street- perfect for high heels. We will definitely be back & will recommend Villa Maria to family & friends.

Best little secret in the Barossa
This home is exquisite, newly renovated, spacious for our 3 couple stay, all rooms with their own luxury en-suite, chefs kitchen, sound system, and so close to Barossa’s best. Plus the owners run the most amazing Asian restaurant in Tununda, food and service is A1. You won’t be disappointed, we’ll be back.

Stunning house
Had a beautiful 3 days in the Barossa staying at this amazing house. Beautiful stone house that has been immaculately renovated and decorated. Beautiful guest rooms with lavish bathrooms- literally the best shower I’ve ever had. Wish I could pick the house up and take it with me! Gorgeous host Tuoi who brought us some lovely fresh breakfast produce. Can’t recommend this beautiful home enough.
