Great little cabin in the woods

I spent two happy weeks in one of the Parkers’ cabins. The cabin itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. I especially loved the two screened porches, front and back. The Parkers were neighborly and helpful in an unobtrusive way, and made the whole process from booking to checkout very easy and pleasant. I loved swimming in Lake Boon. Access to the lake is via a set of wooden stairs, two flights long. The stairs are very sturdy, steady and safe, but may present a challenge for those with mobility issues. Once down at the lake, there is a dock for each cabin, and a set of a few stairs with handrail, which made getting in and out of the lake easy. I was there during the first two weeks of August. Throughout, the temperature of the lake was cool but not cold, very pleasant for swimming. The lake bottom is sandy near the entrance, but soon after the end of the docks drops off to be deep and softer. The cabins sit in a lovely piney woods. It was a pleasure just to breathe the scented air and enjoy the quiet — with or without background noise from boats on the lake and kids playing at the nearby town recreational area. It was very quiet at night except for the insect sounds and, some nights, rain on the roof and trees. It was a refreshing getaway for this New Yorker.

Wonderful Stay at Lake Boon

Thank you so much for an amazing stay. We had a great time. The cabins are immaculate. We enjoyed cooking burgers on the Weber grill and sitting on the front porch with the lake view. It was so peaceful and such a unique location to stay at. Thank you for your hospitality.

A wonderful week!

Tucked away at Stow Lake is the loveliest, vintage cottage. Our family of six stayed comfortably. We canoed and fished daily and caught probably 100 fish over the course of the week! The lake was warm, clean and serene as was the setting of the lake house. The Parker family was kind and responsive to us as they stay in a cottage adjacent to this one. Close to Boston, Concord, Cape Cod and Ogunquit, Maine, we took a few days trips to the seaside. We had an amazing week, thank you so much!

Parker Cottages

I've stayed in 2 of the cottages in the past 4 years and enjoy it more each year. These beautiful old cottages have been maintained and outfitted with great care. Lake Boon will bring back fond memories for anyone who has ever enjoyed "lake life" and the sunsets are amazing. The Parker family brings a warmth to this small community that makes it a gem.

Awesome spot for a getaway while still having access to local restaurants and activities. Lake Boon is beautiful and the cabin itself has everything you need for the ultimate "glamping" experience.

Best family vacation spot!!

We will definitely be back, we are a family of 5 and every one of us has a wonderful time. One week just wasn't long enough. It was so wonderful to go back to a time where you know and love your neighbors, and sip lemonade on the porch while you watch your children play. The set up was perfect, you can see the water without worrying about your kids wandering in. They have a sandbox my toddler LOVED, a small zip line perfect for 8 yr olds, and lots of bikes to choose from. My girls favorite was the rope swing into the water. Brandon and his family were amazing! I just can't say enough. If you are looking for a lap of luxury this may not be for you. But if you are looking to unplug, unwind, and just enjoy God's beautiful creation, this place is perfect!

Can't say enough about Parker Cottages!we stayed in cottage 3 &5 for s total of of 3 weeks Although rustic the accommodations are sparkling clean, comfortable & charmingly furnished. Working fireplace with all the wood provided for chilly mornings. The beautiful lake for hot afternoons. Made to feel at home from the moment we arrived with a hot out of the oven homemade pie delivered to our door. All of the Parker family went out of their way to make our stay the best possible. Location couldn't be better. Close to Boston(35-40 min. Drive)yet felt as if we were in a private quiet vacation home. Our favorites were canoeing& swimming from our private dock, walking in the woods, riding the nearby Bike trail and watching sunsets over the lake. Thanks for sharing this great place with my family

The truth about Lake Boon

I admit to being biased about this rental. Why? I stayed in this exact spot with my family as a kid 70 years ago. It's still wonderful. The cottages are spartan summer cottages but the area is wonderful. My wife has blood clots in her lung but here SHE DOESN'T NEED HER INHALER! The air is crisp and clean. You're out in the middle of the woods right next to a jewel of a lake but Hudson, with supermarkets and a Dollar Tree store is only 15 minutes away. Want more? Worcester, MAss, with a beautiful art museum and more, is a little over half an hour away. Boston just an hours drive. Here's the best part. The Parkers, who rent these cottages, as a whole family, are the nicest and most gracious people you'll ever meet. The only reason I'm writing a rave review is that I already have my reservation in.

#3 Parker Cottage

When I first saw the cottage, i knew it was perfect for me. I spent 6 happy summers enjoying the peace and serenity of the area and the hospitality of the Parker family. I particularly enjoyed kayaking around the lake just before sunset and celebrating w/ a glass of wine on my dock to watch the sun go down. Stow Acres Golf Course is an easy 10 minutes away and has special rates for seniors. I would highly recommend this rental, you wont be disappointed!

Love Lake Boon!

Our family has been staying at the Lake Boon cottage for 19 years now....the rustic setting and scenic location has been a Summer home for our children, family and friends. Days spent swimming, boating, and bike riding as well as celebrating Summer Holidays have built lifetime memories for our family. The Parker's make you feel like as if you are part of their family whether you are there for a season or just a week!

About the host

Hosted by The Parker Family

Host profile image
The Parker family has owned and operated Parker Cottages of Lake Boon since the 1920's. The land under which Lake Boon sets, was once Parker Farm. The open, low area was acquired by factory owners in Maynard, MA, and the stream running through was dammed up for water power in the mills along the Assabet River. When water power was no longer needed, the lake became a recreational attraction. Seasonal cottages were built as needed.
Over those many years, we have made-life long friends with our renters. It especially makes our day when someone who may have spent their childhood summers here at the lake meanders in to see "their" cottage and sit with us on the porch to relive good memories.

Why they chose this property

It's interesting to know that most guests are happy to know we offer free wifi, but easily disconnect while staying at the lake. There are two, peaceful screened-in porches. One offers comfortable chairs and reading lamps, and it looks toward the lake. The other has a dining table and chairs, a hanging lamp, and it looks towards our "ballfield" and the woods.
We find the porches are our guests favorite spots to relax. Birdwatching, people-watching, or enjoying the breeze and just listening and contemplating.

What makes this property unique

Parker Cottages is also summer residence to three Parker families. On many occasions members have moved down to the lake, and continued to go to their places of work throughout their stay. We have had extended-stay guests do the same. Lake Boon has a convenient location, and one can easily get to a highway within minutes. Commuting is very nice, and coming "home" to the lake is even better!
