Walk to the Beach - Our house rents fast because we are the lowest priced fully furnished rental in our neighborhood. All utilities and gardener included. We are booked through September, 2024, but October through December are available. These are some of the best weather months in San Diego. Most of our guests return year after year. We have two offices for you to work at home, both equipped with ethernet wired connections, and the house also has very good WIFI. We welcome extended stay guests beyond the minimum 30 days, and offer discounts for those stays. Book soon because our house rents fast.
It is a fantastic home and location. And by "walk to the beach," we really meant it! You do not need to lace up your sneakers and pack a lunch! It is close -- about 7 minute walk!
Our house is a luxury 4BD/3BA furnished, centrally- air-conditioned private home in Waters End, a gated community near South Carlsbad State Beach -- and close to everything else! Refurbished 2022 and 2023. Last year we added brand new washer and dryer and a brand new built-in outside grill. This year we added a new 55 inch TV in the living room, a new refrigerator in the kitchen, and a new all-glass shower stall in the primary bedroom bathroom.
This is not a "rental property" owned by an investor. It is our second home. We live here as often as we can.
Please check the calendar on this site for availability-- there are no reviews below because VRBO has lost them -- all reviews have been five stars for the past 12 years! No one has ever been disappointed in renting our home. As one reviewer said, '"This rental property has given us our best rental experience. As I told the owner, this home is so well appointed, clean and comfortable that we were surprised that it would be rented out to the public." Everything in our home is in perfect condition, including the kitchen with all of the dishes, cooking supplies, etc. And we both work at home when we are using the house ourselves so there are two offices available in the house, both equipped with ethernet and WIFI, as well as desks, working space, etc. -- everything you need to work close to the beach!
This is not grandma's old-fashioned furnished "rental" home. It is our modern, comfortable, airy and bright beach house, furnished with the most up-to-date appliances, furniture, art, and technology for your complete enjoyment. Unlike most homes in our neighborhood, our home is centrally air-conditioned for your comfort. Since this is our second home, you will notice a big difference because of that. Everything works. Everything is spotless. Everything you need is there -- In the kitchen, for the beach, for your BBQ's...everything. And because it is our second home, you will see excellent art on the walls. So many homes that we have rented around the world are full of blank, boring walls -- not ours!
Our 4BD/3BA beach home is an excellent choice for longer vacations and executive relocation. Our rental rates are lower than rates for less desirable homes further from the beach. We know because if we could have found a beautiful home like this to rent -- this close to the beach -- we may not have bought this home!
Location in gated community close to the beach
Our home is located in the gated Waters End community in Carlsbad, CA near the beach (see map below). The community is west of I-5, easily reachable from the Poinsettia Lane exit. We are also 10 minutes from Palomar Airport.
South Carlsbad beach is a short 7 minute walk (or 5 minute bike ride), and our community has a very large pool and spa. The pool, spa, and playground are 6 houses down the street from our house -- but you can't hear any pool noise from our house. The community is very kid friendly.
There is a very good shopping center across Poinsettia Lane about a block down Avenida Encinas, with a large Ralph's grocery store, Starbucks, Rite Aide, and numerous restaurants and small specialty markets and shops. All of this is a short walk, maybe 5 minutes.
Description of the house
The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. One bedroom and a full bath are on the first floor and three bedrooms and two baths are on the second floor. In addition to central air-conditioning, all bedrooms have cross-ventilation (the Primary Bedroom has windows on all four sides). The house has ceiling fans in every bedroom upstairs and all downstairs rooms. The first floor bedroom also has a large desk and file storage and serves as an office for us and most of our guests.
The Primary Bedroom suite has a king bed, huge walk-in closet, and bath with both shower stall and soaking tub and double sinks. The suite also has a sitting area with a comfortable couch and recliner chair and 32 inch flat-screen TV. A balcony from the sitting area looks over the back patio and has a nice bench and comfortable cushions.
The second bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and large closets. The third bedroom upstairs has two twin beds and a Pac 'n' Play portable crib and a large, walk-in closet. The second bathroom upstairs (right across from the two bedrooms) has a tub and shower. Also upstairs is a laundry room with a new high-efficiency washer and dryer. There is also an office upstairs in the hall alcove (see pictures). The house is most suitable for 6 people, but can accommodate 8.
On the first floor, we use the bedroom as an office and it is equipped with a desk and office chair, as well as a high speed ethernet connection. This room also has a queen bed that is very high-tech. It is a Frontgate bed that comes out of the closet, and when you plug it in, it unfolds to a complete queen bed on a platform -- it's incredibly comfortable, and nothing like a traditional 'rollaway'. There is a full bath with shower next to the first floor bedroom. Even the bathrooms in our house have granite counter-tops.
As you can see from the pictures, the kitchen is ultra modern with stainless steel appliances, granite counter-tops, and is fully equipped. The fireplace in the living room is only decorative. The dining room seats 8, and there is also a high chair for babies.
The living room has a new 55' flat screen TV with technology to save shows, Blu-ray DVD player, couches and comfortable chair. Both patios have tables and chairs for outside dining.
There is a two car garage, and outside the kitchen in the play area is a built-in gas BBQ with built-in gas line -- so no canisters to worry about. The house is completely fenced for the safety of small children, but of course, they should be monitored at all times since most kids can figure out how to unlock the gates.
Restrictions on rentals
No cats or dogs or other pets please -- we are very allergic. We do not rent to weddings, reunions, parties, unrelated groups, or anyone else who might disturb this family- and kid-friendly neighborhood. Our homeowner's association restricts renters to longer terms (30 days or more), and assesses severe fines for any disturbances -- we would pass along any such fines to renters if that occurred, although we expect that it will not. We must limit guests to a maximum of 8, and the house is most suitable for 6 people.
Why did we buy this house?
We bought this house because we could not find a suitable rental in the San Diego area that was this close to the beach. We found that the rentals we experienced in this area left a lot to be desired and were over-priced, and nothing compared to our house in luxury, technology, art, and convenience. Most were minimally furnished, low-tech, had no art on the walls, felt like a cheap hotel room, kinda dirty, far away from the beach, and expensive. None were second homes like ours, so the owners never lived there -- that makes a big difference in how well the house is kept up. Most were owned by "investors" -- watch out for those!
So, we created the ideal vacation house for ourselves and our family, and for you and your family. We have a local property manager who is available to you if anything goes wrong -- although the house is so perfect and well-maintained that we can't imagine that happening. We also have a housekeeping staff who provides cleaning services mid-month and at the end of the rental. Check out the pictures and reviews below -- it truly is a fabulous home. And we are a very short walk to the beach.

Why they chose this property
This is a very special place. We have rented homes all over the world and have never found a rental house that is equal to ours in style, space, technology, art, and location -- especially not in Southern California! This is not a rental property. It is our second home. We use it as often as we can. And because of that, everything works!
What makes this property unique
Our home is very private yet a short walking distance from the beach, swimming pool, hot tub, playground, restaurants, shopping, bars, Coaster/Amtrak station, etc. A ten minute drive to Legoland.
