Echuca accomodation
This property was perfect for our groups needs for this particular weekend. It was incredibly central and meant we could walk to all of Echuca CBD. The accomodation was clean and tidy, and the host very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Local family who developed a resort in the wine district and Nullarbor Sustainable Timber reclaimed industries. Treehouse is managed by a local couple, Jacqueline, a photographer / writer and Paul, a counsellor / musician.

Why they chose this property

The property is steep in rich town history.
WC Vahland, a German, erected this unusual Italianate residence in 1876 for a surgeon who had been practicing since 1863. It was designed by the noted Bendigo architect W.C. Vahland. The verandah and balcony were added in 1897 by Dr G. Eakins, Crossen's successor.

From 1876 the premises were used as a surgery, except for a period during World War II when it became a boarding house while the owner Dr D. Brown was at the war. Drs. J. Jones and C. Moysey joined Dr Brown in 1953 and remained in practice here until the building was sold in 1999 to Barry and Jan Donchi, local timber merchants and resort developers. In the past ten years it has acted as offices for local council. In 2018 it was launched as a Bed and Breakfast lodging by Jacqueline, their photographer daughter, who runs it today with her partner Paul. The two continue to develop historic buildings for luxury stays for tourists and families drawn to the area.

What makes this property unique

A grand, freshly renovated townhouse in central Echuca with space to lounge but proximity to the river, Endota’s spa and many restaurants, cafes and bars.

Watch the world go by on the lathe treetop and balcony.. Beautifully outfitted bedrooms and large lounge room. Free appleTV in all rooms,, high speed wifi. Ornate finishings. Great views. Comfort and style. Just lovely.

Close to Endota Spa, Port of Echuca, Main Street shops, cafes, supermarkets, the works. The heritage of the building as well as its proximity to the famous Port of Echuca makes this property utterly unique. People comment on how cosy it feels but also so huge. The large balcony/eating area in the trees sets off this beautiful Italianate residence.
