Cozy getaway!
Peace, quiet, bountiful wildlife and friendly locals all made this trip memorable for us. This property would be ideal for fall trips to the Eastern shore as well, the surrounding water and wildlife are an amazing experience.

Awesome House
Very quiet quaint neighborhood. Very friendly people and very laid back relaxing feeling. Only very small water views from the house. The dock was very nice and the house has everything. Love the area and the fishing in Blackwater was challenging but successful.

Clean, and very comfortable house.
This property is great for vacationing and relaxing. The neighborhood is quiet and close to the water front. The house is great if you just want to relax and just stay inside. The owner, Joe Pinho is wonderful. He help me reschedule our stay, at no additional charges, when we could not make it due to an illness . Yozefu

Stress just melts away!
The location was better than I could have dreamed. No tourist, peaceful, quiet and beautiful.would highly recommend the black water refuge center. The garden there was beautiful and the driving trail had varied landscapes and a bird photography blind. Bring wasp and mosquito sprays. The house was very well kept and comfortable. The screened deck pics do not do it justice. Everything was great!

Quiet Getaway
Communication and check in process were great. The house was clean and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed sitting on the screen porch and playing pool. It was an easy walk to the dock - so relaxing to sit there and watch the osprey flying overhead! Fishing Creek is a super quiet town - if you are looking to get away from the crowd this is the place to do it. Definitely worth the $3 entrance fee to the nearby Blackwater Nation Wildlife Refuge - we saw a bald eagle! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

Fishing Creet
Lovely home, clean and well appointed. Learned I couldn't play billards on their beautiful table. Was unhappy about the queen size bed, a bit small for me and the matress is too soft but I slept well anyway. Some spices there as well as coffee, thanks. Very quiet and charming environment. Great get away to rest and contiplate the universe.

Private and comfortable
We had a lovely time staying at this rental on hoopers island. Everything was in order and clean. We had morning coffee on the screened porch every am and went traveling during the day. In the evenings we were happy to have a cozy space to come home to where we would play our favorite word game on the kitchen table. This is a great rental for a couple of old friends (like us) to each have their own bedrm/bath to sleep and prep in. It would also work for 1 or 2 couples. Joe answered our texts immediately when we had questions. Would definitely stay again.

Relaxing, remote and peaceful / Good location for Blackwater Wildlife Refuge
A good, basic place to stay. Very nice TV set up. Nice pool table. A small sliver of a water view between homes across the street. Short drive to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge (spectacular! --- lots of bald eagles, great blue heron, egrets, etc.) and Gootee's marina, where you can hire a captain for a nice afternoon private tour of the bay. Bring your own food, including dinners as there are absolutely no good local restaurants. However, the cheesesteaks from the local general store's cafe are really good. If you are into wine, bring your own glass wine glasses as only plastic ones are supplied. Overall, a good place to stay that met our needs.

Perfection
Perfectly equipped and clean as a whistle. Only complaint is that the beds had too much foam rubber which made Them too hot for our taste. We had to adjust the air conditioning to cool the house down so that we could sleep. We enjoyed the surroundings and loved exploring. Dining out facilities were great and we had crab almost every dinner. Reading early in the morning on the front porch was wonderful. For peace and quiet, beauty and perfection, good food and and great supplies for at-home cooking, this place is ideal. We hated to leave but we did take crab home with us from the processing facility on the southernmost island below Hoopers. Exploring the marshy areas around us was a wakeup call about life in the area. We love to visit new places and this area was a real surprise. VRBO seems to attract the unusual. We have never been disappointed in their locales. It will be difficult to match this one.

Best Kept Secret - For Sure!
We wanted a relaxing getaway and we found it here. The vrbo was clean, comfy and felt like home away from home. The screened in porch and billard room were both used daily. Although the house isn't set on the bay, there were peeks of the bay from the front and back. And the private dock was close enough to walk or drive. The people at Old Salty's and the General Store were welcoming and friendly. The house was fully equipped and although we could have cooked in, we preffered eating out. Since Old Salty's is the only resturant on the Island, we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and finding different places to eat in Cambridge. And if you enjoy nature, Black Water Refuge was a beautiful drive for seeing wildlife! We saw more bald eagles on our trip than in our entire lifetime. Although we had no control over the weather, and were hit by the biggest coastal storm since 2003, our hosts were very gracious and accomodating while we were stranded on the island. What a fun, exciting, yet scary experience, with new memories made. The one item we missed was a radio for listeni g for the news and of course music. A hearty thank you to our hosts for sharing their vacation home! Their instructions, details and accomodations were perfect for our vacation!

Quiet, comfortable, convenient fishing vacation
This home was a perfect place for our two couples to go fishing on the river and explore the island. The small dock, located close to the home, was ideal for keeping my 20 ft. center console. The very tidy and pleasantly appointed home is perfect for two couples. Communication with the owner and the local property manager was excellent and prompt. Highly recommended for a low key, eastern shore getaway and/or fishing trip.

The house was perfect for our weekend get away, the location is quiet and peaceful. Being central on Hooper Island was a plus, the general store and Old Saltys were easy to get to. Best kept secret on the Bay
We would agree. Lovely home for retired travelers in nice neighborhood. Great getaway if you like crabbing and fishing. Not directly on the bay but it’s visible across the street as are lovely sunsets. With the Honga on one side and BY on the other, water is always a stones throw away. We would return.

A beautiful house, bright and cheery...very cozy. Two bedrooms with bathrooms on opposite sides of the house for privacy. A great kitchen to prepare meals. Enjoyed sitting out on the screened porch, especially when there were breezes. Surrounding scenery is beautiful and peaceful. Would definitely recommend stopping at Emily's Produce to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables. Had a great experience and would come again.

This is great property and just what we needed. Very neat and clean. I like that everything is on one level given my parents are both elderly. We first came to Hooper"s Island in 2004, loved it so much that we had a house built across the road from the bay on a little quiet lane. We are into nature, and this is a perfect and safe place to enjoy nature at its finest. Great adult getaway.

Why they chose this property

For the peaceful surroundings and lovely vistas. Starry nights and gorgeous sunsets! Quiet walks, beautiful bike rides, crabbing, fishing, boating, reading, bird watching or just sitting on the dock and enjoying an evening wine or morning coffee or a late afternoon glass of wine on your screened in porch or private dock.
Simply close your eyes and listen to the sounds of silence.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the island and designed our home to fit into the peaceful surroundings. There is so much history in the area.
