This independent home adjacent to the house owner is located in a quiet farm set up close to Maynooth. We had a hired car and therefore transport to and around Maynooth and surrounding areas including Dublin worked well for us. The house has all the facilities in a well equipped kitchen, laundry with 3 large bedrooms (1 ensuite). The towels, beds and pillows were excellent. Brian and wife were very helpful with suggestions on places to shop etc. We recommend highly this home to a family or 3 couples. Thanks Brian for your support and guidance.
Super quiet property with everything that one would need. It's just down the road from a lovely pub. Landlord was very responsive to requests. The door was a bit tricky, but we had the key and just needed a little love to get it open. Parking super easy. Lovely beds. Needed to hit the thermostat for central heat and heating water ahead of when we needed either, but once hot, that building maintained temperature seemingly forever (oh the joy of a stone home). Pool table for the kids along with books and games. The yard was good for playing ball. Separate rooms for the family was a life-saver. Great time!
We loved our stay at Brian and Deirdre's property, it's a beautifully restored outbuilding. There was fresh milk and a packet of biscuits left for us on arrival and Brian explained everything we needed to know, i.e.heating, cooker and other facilities. The property was perfectly located for us as we have family in Kildare and Dublin and the nearest pub is only a 15 minute walk away. We would highly recommend.
Everything was exactly as listed. Charming outbuild that was more than sufficient for me, my husband and 2 adult children. We were in the area for a wedding at the K Club. The location was perfect for us. The owner was very accommodating and the grounds were lovely, especially the cows and farm dog who kept watch. Highly recommended
The property was spotlessly clean, very well-equipped and comfortable. We really enjoyed having the pool table! The location is great - peaceful and calm but with easy access to towns round about, and great public transport into Dublin. The property owners were communicative, friendly and very helpful. Would recommend!
We were on vacation for the first time in Ireland. It was my wife and I, our oldest son and his wife and their 2 year old son and our 2nd oldest son and his fiancee.
This place was a true GEM!!
It was a quiet, comfortable, country setting.
The place was great, clean, well taken care of and the hosts were sooo accommodating.
We traveled into Dublin Center from here and it was an easy drive. We were happy to have a quiet and safe place to unwind and rest up for our daily adventures.
When it was time to leave it was only about a 30-40 minute drive to Dublin Airport.
This was our best stay in Ireland! Brian and his wife are fantastic hosts. Outside of the city, cows on the property and of course, Polly the dog who is precious. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to experience Irish hospitality at it's finest!
Ovidstown Guest house was beautiful!!! It is historical and driving the beautiful long driveway, we felt like we were in the 18 century with the stoned Manor and the guest house.
Beautiful hardwood floors all through out. All three bedrooms looked exactly like the pictures. The beds on the Vrbo sight says the beds are full size, but they are larger than a full size bed. The beds are closer to queen size American beds. My husband and I fit perfectly on the master bedroom bed. Bathrooms very clean and fully stocked with nice towels. Sheets were soft and clean and crisp. The washer dryer combo worked great. Drying time was long. We loved the open kitchen with table. The game room was the BEST part!! Lots of family fun playing darts and pool. The Host, Brian, was so friendly and gave us great suggestions to restaurants. 2km from Barberstown Castle. And 10min drive to train station which takes you to Dublin or anywhere in Ireland. Brian replied quick when I messaged him too. The best part was the beautiful green hills and the friendly cows that lived there on the property and greeted my family. We will come back to Ireland we will stay there again! This place is a treasure.
A very comfy, clean and well equipped cottage. The pool table added an extra dimension of competition between friends. All communication with the owner, Brian, before and during our stay was great.
Location in the quiet countryside was great with easy access to motorways for trips into Dublin and south to Wicklow mountains.
We loved our stay, this is a lovely property located near Straffan and within a few minutes drive of Clane, where there is a good selection of shops and restaurants. The property was nicely presented, clean and in a lovely setting. It has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Our host, Brain, was more than helpful, meeting us to show us around and being available for any questions. Highly recommended if you want somewhere away from the centre of Dublin. You can catch the train from Naas and be in the centre of Dublin within 30 minutes without any of the aggravation of driving and trying to park. Huge bonus.
Our disappointment was with the customer service of Vrbo, first time we had used them and not a patch on the other booking sites. Struggled to get in touch with anybody when the website blocked us from communicating with our host and whilst we finally managed to get the contact we needed the whole experience caused us unnecessary stress and wasted time.
We had a wonderful stay while taking day trips to Dublin, Glendalough, and Powerscourt. Enjoyed watching the cows out our window and playing pool. You need a car but 15 min drive to train station provided easy access to Dublin Center. Ideal spot to relax and still have plenty to do. Unique cottage and perfect host.
Vielen lieben Dank nochmal!!!
This is in a beautiful and quiet location. It has everything you could need for self catering. A large stunning garden area so excellent for families. Having the games room was a definite plus and my kids spent less time on their phones and more time practicing their pool & dart skills. The owner Brian was very welcoming, would definitely stay again.
Our family was in Ireland from the US for a family celebration. We enjoyed a week long stay at Ovidstown House, the accommodations were brilliant and well equipped in every manner. Brian and Deidre were excellent hosts. Our grandchildren throughly enjoyed the freedom of playing in the yard, watching the cows and having an occasional pet of Brian’s lovely dog, Polly. We have every intention of returning to Ireland for another stay and will be sure to book in at Ovidstown House again!
Even though the house is within driving distance of Dublin, it was quiet and rural. It is a stylish and high quality renovated farmhouse, cozy and spacious.
Our teenage children particularly enjoyed the billiards room and we always ended the days with a game of pool together.
We had about a 45 minute drive to the center of Dublin and visited the museums, shops and Temple Bar. The drive to Belfast took 2 hours, but this was absolutely worth it with the visit to the Titanic Museum. We also visited the Wicklow Mountains, and the attractions of Eastern Ireland and the Midlands were within easy reach.
The friendly and helpful hosts took good care of us, we enjoyed our stay very much.
