The property was charming. Everything we could have needed was there (except for an electric jug to keep a tea drinker happy). The cottage was adorable decorated in an American country style. Very comfortable. As we had been travelling for several days we were very grateful to be able to wash and dry our clothes. Whilst having beautiful views over the countryside it was also very close to Watkins Glen where we found a lovely restaurant for dinner and Walmart for provisions for breakfast. We also did the gorge walk which was spectacular. Thoroughly recommend as a delightful place to stay.
Jim had excellent communication, and upgraded us to his second unit. The view and sunroom were amazing. Lots of room for three adults. Beds very comfortable. Loved the decor. We enjoyed our stay!
We enjoyed our visit. I believe the property listing is a little incorrect. Unit 2 comes with a 1 1/2 baths, which was great for our needs. Over all the property was very accommodating . The view was amazing!
The space was unlocked and all lit up to welcome us. The furniture was comfortable. The views from their windows and patio were lovely! Unfortunately we arrived in the dark and left by 8:15 AM the next morning, so we didn't really have time to relax and enjoy it.
The house was easy to locate and close to Watkins Glen. It was quite dirty when we arrived. We located the vacuum and cleaned the floors/walls/ceiling. There was a lot of cob webs/spiders in each room. The beds were comfortable and the decor was nice. There is plenty of room for 6 people. The listing indicated there was a washing machine but we did not see one. There were 2 bathrooms, which was a pleasant surprise and the water pressure was good for showers. We tried watching tv but the wifi kept cutting out and the tv program would just pause/not load. The people upstairs were loud. You could hear them talking and stomping on the floor but they were quiet after 10pm. We enjoyed sitting in the enclosed patio and watching the deer & turkeys that were in the fields behind the house. It has a wonderful view.

Beautiful view
The view was beautiful. The house was in a nice location close to Watkins Glen but had more privacy. Inside was clean.
We were there for the Grand Prix Festival and this was the perfect place to stay. Scenery was beautiful. Bed was so comfortable to sleep in. Enjoyed looking at all the antiques in the house as well. I would definently stay here again.

Things to Know Before Booking
The view was beautiful and the unit spacious enough to comfortably accomodate a small family BUT...it is a lower unit, not mentioned in the description. The unit above is a 3 bedroom pet-friendly rental. There was what seemed to be a multi-generational family and a dog above us with no sound proof material in the ceiling.Be prepared for sleep interruption.
On first glance, the property appeared clean BUT the smell of mildew and mold was overwhelming. We searched for a scented candle to burn. We also all experienced increasing respiratory symptoms. I have notified the owner through this app.The kitchen garbage had not been emptied before we arrived.
The sunporch and patio are nice features BUT the patio was filthy and could not be used. It needed sweeping and the furniture, washing.
Lots of cupboard space and utensils in the kitchen BUT no space for any groceries if you were to stay a long period of time. The refrigerator door held opened condiments, etc that should have been disposed of.
The owner texted me the day of arrival with instructions. There was no guide or instructions for the house beyond a piece of paper with the wifi password and his phone number. I had to reach out to find out if I should lock the door when leaving.
We thoroughly enjoyed the viewthe size of the unit and the comfort of the beds but would not choose this prooerty again based solely on the mustiness of the unit.
We enjoyed hiking at Watkins Glen State Park in the afternoon before staying at the house. It was only about 4-5 miles to the house from the state park. The views of the valley in the evening and at sunrise were amazing!
Location was perfect for hiking Watkins Glen and Ithica area. Lovely home with beautiful view. Jim was very hospitable and responded to messages in timely manner. Would definitely stay again!!
Beautiful view of the country side. Loved the sunroom. Short drive to the state park which was the emphasis of the trip. Went everyday to swim and hike. Added bonus: was able to drive on the track at Watkins Glen International Speedway.
Gorgeous views. Easy access to Watkins Glen State Park and downtown. Very quiet, peaceful location. Loved having two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Jim (owner) very easy to work with - super easy check-in and very responsive to all our questions.

Adequate but could have been better
First impression was an odor like an animal had been there. Probably because it is a basement apartment. We had to contact the owners to get the check in details on the day of arrival. There were crumbs on the kitchen floor, a cable running from a bathroom to the living room and it was a bit cluttered. It was quiet until 6am when the people upstairs started moving around over our heads in the main bedroom. They weren't loud but the floor was creaky and kept me awake too early.
The unit was conveniently located with a nice view of the area. It was quiet. There are window air conditioners in the bedrooms, but not in the main living area.
The layout of the unit is great and we liked having a washer and dryer.
There were too many antiques and collectibles sitting around for our taste.
