Cozy Beachfront Eco Bungalow! Cottage de los Palmas

Right on the Beach! Ideal for a nature lovers seeking solitude or adventure. Enjoy the privacy of your own space in our eco cottage just steps away from the ocean. Watch Scarlet Macaws fly overhead above our yard stopping to eat from our almond trees! If you have a sharp eye you'll see monkeys high up in the palms enjoying their meal of coconut fruit and milk. Relax on the porch or patio and watch birds, squirrels, iguanas and even the neighbors chickens meander through the yard.
This adorable cottage is situated in a neighborhood setting just beyond farmland and palm plantations. It is nestled among palm trees on a beautiful, secluded property right on the Pacific Ocean. The spacious rooms and kitchen are furnished with all the essentials you need for a simple yet relaxing and enjoyable vacation in spectacular Costa Rica. All rooms are open and airy with ceiling fans. The bedroom is equipped A/C. A screened in porch with overhead fan provides a cool spot to enjoy the ocean views away from the sun. There is even a small reading library!
Just steps out the door is a pristine beach perfect for walking. Walk or jog along the beach for miles in either direction. A 40 min walk south down the beach will take you to an estuary. At low tide walk out TOWARDS the ocean some 200 feet! Chill on the beach in lounge chairs under beach umbrellas. Swim with boogie boards. Watch pelicans, plovers, sanderlings at the beach. The sunsets are one of the most spectacular sights and worth watching from the beach each and every night.
The serenity here is addictive and you may want to spend every day relaxing on the porch or ocean side. But just 10 min away in Parrita you can find cafes, grocery and drug stores. Within 45 minutes you can be in Quepos at the new marina, diving in Manuel Antonio or in Jaco where fishing, surfing, souvenir shops and other tourist attractions abound. And within an hour you can visit Domincal with it's lush forests and waterfalls.
This quaint cottage with it's jungle meets ocean setting is perfect for the adventurous couple or those seeking solitude. A great way to see life in Costa Rica away from the usual tourist congregations. The central location also makes a great home base for a longer stay. Head south along the road beyond Parrita to explore the Osa Peninsula or north to the Nicoya Peninsula.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the location or our cottage. We have been spending several weeks here every year for many years and we cherish the time. This property and ocean are a nature lovers paradise. Our cozy cottage is our second home. We think it will delight you too!

This property is just as advertised, a basic cottage for two and a superb black sand beach that stretched for at last a km in either direction with few footprints save our own.

Unwind & Destress!
This was our 3rd stay. We absolutely love this special place! It's a sweet simple house with palm trees, monkeys, iguanas, & beautiful birds. It's a beautiful private beach, where almost every day you have it all to yourself. It's in a private quite part of Costa Rica. It's the most relaxing vacation spot we've ever been to.

Best Place to Stay in Costa Rica
We are so happy we chose to stay at Cottage de los Palmas. Watching monkeys and all kinds of tropical wildlife in the yard as we drank our coffee on the porch was really special and something we couldn't have experienced staying elsewhere. Having such close beach access was also really nice. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves. We swam in the warm water, watched the sunsets, and sat on the beach at night to listen to the waves and star gaze. There's also lots to do nearby - waterfall hikes, mangrove boat tours, ziplining, and Manuel Antonio National Park. Jan and David were great hosts and very responsive to any questions we had. The groundskeeper, Rolando, was also very helpful if we ever needed anything. Would definitely stay here again.

Felt like I lived there!
This is just the perfect little house to feel like you actually live in Costa Rica! We spend everyday and night at the beach. The screened in porch was perfect for watching the Lightning storms we had for two of the nights, and when I just wanted to chill out, the AC in the primary bedroom was fabulous. All around a great trip and will be back. Muah! My husband and I loved it!

Getaway Retreat
I booked this with mindset of renting a cottage for some relaxation and a very low key holiday and it exceeded my expectations!!! I picked up groceries and spent my days at the ocean, swimming, reading and enjoying having miles of beach to myself. I made Costa Rican food every day and evenings after a swim I would read in the screened in porch! I could not have planned a better trip … driving thru the mountains to arrive at a little piece of paradise. Having AC to sleep in the evenings was lovely. I wanted to do a fire on the beach however a few evenings it rained. I would suggest a pair of water shoes for the hot sand (ocean was hard sand and do not need for swimming) For travelling as a woman on own for first time I never had a moments concern or worry! I slept well as the doors and windows have bars so you can keep the open air and still feel safe. I would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends whether going to to enjoy location or to use as a base to do excursions!

Beautiful Beach Sunsets
Great rustic beachfront property with wonderful sunsets. The monkeys visited nearly every day and for the most part our tracks on the beach were about the only tracks. Host was great and gave us a good lay of the land. Since we enjoyed the solitude, i would certainly consider returning.

Great Location, Great Beach
This is a basic cottage that has most everything you need. Steps from a beautiful, quiet beach. Great swimming, walking, sunbathing. We felt like the entire beach was ours for walks, runs, sunsets, etc. The house is surrounded by birds, monkeys, iquanas, and friendly neighborhood dogs. The white face monkeys made their way through the property usually twice a day. Easy access to good authentic Costa Rican restaurants and not too far from Manuel Antonio National Park. Owners were very communicative and accessible. The locals, Aldo and Rolando, we helpful when needed. We loved our stay here.

Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
This property was exactly as described. If you are looking for a high-rise condo with an infinity pool, this isn't your place. But if you want a wide-open beach, a brilliant sunset, consistently perfect weather, and the ocean's roar, this is your stay.

Paradise
There really aren't words for such a place. It is a very simple cottage located in the most beautiful location on a most beautiful, secluded beach. We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary there and returned to celebrate our 38th. This is a place of peacefulness. It is romantic. It is a place to unwind. We didn't want to leave. We absolutely love it.

Parrita stay
The road to the property was always an adventure( pleasant adventure). The grounds were absolutely beautiful . The beach is fantastic rarely saw more the 5-10 people as far as you could see.. We were lucky enough to see monkeys as we were leaving one afternoon and saw several scarlet macaws flying overhead.

Amazing beach
This a five star location but I gave it a 3 star rating because the cottage needs some improvements. I think it is a very fair price for the location. You can walk out to the beach and look for miles in both directions and not see another person. The sunsets are spectacular. It is a rough 5 mile drive but you are definitely in a secluded, beautiful location.

Secluded beach cottage
If your looking for a secluded beach "Cottage" and basically a secluded beach, this is the place. Nothing fancy but cozy and comfortable. When we were there we saw only a few people on the beach. It felt like we had our own private beach. We lost electricity once and Rolando (the groundskeeper) was right there to make sure we were good. We think the only thing missing was having an ice chest to take down to the beach with the chairs and some kind of bbq to do some outdoor bbq.

Tranquil and Beautiful !
We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of this property. The beach was amazing and the sunsets were beautiful ! We saw Scarlet Macaws fly over on two occasions while having morning coffee. We saw lots of Iguana's (mostly black) roaming around the property. They didn't bother with us at all. The property was very clean and well maintained. Renaldo was amazing and helped us with anything we asked. Aldo was very helpful too. We did not travel far from the property - no more than 1hr drive and were able to enjoy seeing first hand the many different species of animal living in their natural habitat (monkeys, sloths, wild parrots, kinkajou's and all types of lizards and birds). We made our own breakfast and would eat at local restaurants on Hwy 34 for dinner. All of them were very good ! We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The owners were amazing and provided us with lots of information before we arrived. For those travelling from San Jose, you need to know that Hwy 27 on Sunday's between 1-7 pm is only a north bound highway. LOL We did not realize this and had to take another route out of San Jose. I'm glad we did because we ended up going through and around the mountains which had absolutely spectacular views ! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful property.

Great isolated Costa Rica experience
If you are looking for a place to disconnect from the world and enjoy the beach and a cottage this is the place for you. Everything you need in an isolated setting. Such a beautiful place.

A piece of paradise!
What a beautiful and amazing stay! This sweet little bungalow is located on one of the most beautiful and isolated beaches you will ever find. The water is clear and the sand is like velvet. You could not ask for more. The bungalow itself is clean and very pretty. Fresh tropical air flowing thru it is amazing. The sounds of birds singing and the waves crashing is something one can never get enough of. Early mornings & evenings spent on rocking chairs on the back porch were beyond relaxing. The nearest town to the bungalow is Parrita. Parrita is a charming little town full of kind people and good food. It is also the home to beautiful palm plantations. The property manager, Aldo Molina, is wonderful! He is a local and knows everything any traveler would want to know. He is the only travel planner you will need on this trip. The only negative thing is the air mattress on the bed. I hate to even bring it up because this place is so amazing.

Terrific beach-front property perfect for a relaxing get-away!
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage very much. It's location so close to the ocean means you can hear the waves crashing from the front porch. A short walk through the many palm trees and you're on a beautiful beach that's practically all your own. The house itself is very nice with a screened in porch, comfortable furniture and a nice shower! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the fact we were basically off the grid. It was great for sitting on the beach and reading or just watching the waves. Beautiful sunsets too. Highly recommended! Our only complaint would be the neighbor's dog, the little black one, who while very friendly, was a bit annoying after a while.

A lovely week's stay
We had a great time at Jan and David's beach cottage. The beach was empty and beautiful, warm water, mild surf (in January), very beautiful at low tide in particular, plus amazing sunsets every night, all right out the back door. The cottage was perfectly comfortable, clean, nicely laid out. Kitchen facilities were modest, fans and lighting really good, AC in the bedroom which we used only sparingly, plenty of ocean breeze. Having spent a lot of time in tropical settings, we were surprised and pleased at the lack of large insects! But birds, an occasional iguana, gekkos, and red squirrels were all around the lush grounds. We had a small suv, which I recommend, because the roads are rocky/dusty driving in and out. No wi-fi (we went to town for that) and our Verizon only worked on the beach, not in the cabin, so be prepared for beautiful isolation, plus some local trips (e.g. Manuel San Antonio). Aldo the property manager and Rolando, the caretaker, were helpful and available.

A very nice quaint beach cottage nestled on a very private but yet public beach.
The cottage was very lovely , but for those that are expecting a luxury resort this is not it. It’s very cozy and quaint. It has everything you need. The location is to die for. You can barely see the house from the road or from the beach. The neighbors are lovely the groundskeeper is polite and Aldo is the greatest thing going for that property. He’s very helpful and will do anything for you. The owners, Jan and Dave were extremely helpful and quick to respond with any questions or concerns. The kitchen is well-equipped although there is no microwave and or stove. They have a two burner hotplate which we used quite often and it did the job. The waves are enormous and to be honest with you quite daunting. It’s lovely to sit on the back porch and hear them crashing at night not to mention the beautiful sunsets. If there was one drawback that I really did not like it was that the bed was an air mattress and not a regular mattress. Other than that the place was wonderful. If you are looking for a quiet peaceful romantic getaway with on the beach living. This is it!

Quite and peaceful cottage
Loved the location, it was what we needed, away from the tourists and more of the local flair yet close enough to places for adventure activities. The cottage was quiet and there weren't many ppl on the beach. The owner and property manager were super helpful.
