What happens at the beach stays at the beach
The property was clean & tidy when we arrived. The communication with the owner was easy. We were only a short 5min stroll to the beach & the kids walked regularly to town to the shops. The free wifi & selection of DVDs kept the kids occupied at night. There were 5 of us & we never had any issues running out of hot water for showers. It would of been nice to have access to a bbq & maybe outdoor items for the kids like bikes/scooters/fishing rods/buckets/spades/body boards etc seeing we were from out of town(overseas). There were other houses behind us(battleaxe blocks) but we had no issues with noise etc. It has a fully functional kitchen & laundry which worked well(except for the oven which was awkward to work out how to turn on the actual oven, but got it sorted after playing around with the timer buttons). Overall we had a lovely stay & would recommend the property to others. It was close to everything we needed & serviced our needs. Also has a nice plum tree out back with beautiful tasting fruit(late December)😊. One other small detail we would recommend changing is the late check in time of 4pm(A bit late in the day). 11am check out time was good though 👍

4 day stay in Whitianga
Property is in great location a short walk from the beach. The property had all the basic requirements for a holiday stay. A good place to explore the Coromandel peninsula.

Great stay in an awesome kiwi bach
Me and a couple of friends used this property for a weekend of exploring and fishing the coromandel coast, we arrived earlier than expected but Allison was happy to allow us access as they had property ready and clean. House had everything we needed, and was extremely well placed for a base. 5minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes drive to the town centre. Will definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.

Why they chose this property

This house once belonged to a dear friend of my husband’s family, Uncle Harold. Uncle Harold was like a grandfather to my husband (Ben) after his father and grandfather passed away.

Ben grew up in Cooks Beach and has many fond childhood memories of weekend visits at Uncle Harold’s. After Uncle Harold passed away Ben tried to buy this house in 2013, unfortunately he was unsuccessful. Shortly after this he moved to Auckland, where we met and our love story began.

In 2018 this house came back on the market and by some miracle we were able to buy it. Like in one of our favourite movies “The Castle” we describe this place as having “serenity”. Needless to say this house holds a lot of sentimental value. There have been many happy memories made here, with many more to be made in the future. We hope that you enjoy your stay and feel the same “serenity” that we do.
