Quaint waterfront cottage on Bass Lake. In Elk Rapids. Nice biking area.

The Dragonfly is located in Elk Rapids on Bass Lake and is a charming cozy cottage that welcomes up to 4 guests. This home rents weekly Saturday to Saturday only during prime summer months.

Located right in the quaint town of Elk Rapids on the east side. A sweet location that is sure to please. East Grand Traverse Bay is only minutes from here. Shorts Brewery is around the corner too.

The living room is off of the kitchen and features a smart TV with Direct TV. Off of the kitchen on the lakeside is an enclosed porch area, a perfect spot for morning coffee. 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. Both bedrooms have a queen bed. Sheets and towels are included. Step out the porch door to a spacious deck with a perfect area to relax and grill. There is also a separate laundry room. 1 well-mannered pet is welcome.

Outdoors is a big grassy lawn area that walks down to your own private spot on the lake. You can sit on the deck and watch the kids play in the lake. There is a fire pit located close to the water. Plenty of outdoor furniture and a grill round out the comfort for outdoor fun. Walking distance to the grocery store and a couple of restaurants. A peaceful neighborhood is a perfect location to get away from it all. Elk Rapids is about 20 minutes from Traverse City. Kewadin is 10 minutes.

Quiet Location - Great Walking
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The management company was excellent. They were responsive and available when needed. We had issues with the internet and were able to direct me to make a quick fix until Spectrum could remedy it permanently two days later. THANK YOU!The house isn't in great condition - it felt un-loved. The kitchen is disorganized - things just thrown on shelves and in drawers (with the exception of the two upper cabinets Plates/Glasses). The bathroom didn't seem clean, the floor grout needs a really good scrub (especially close to the sink) and the shower had areas of black mildew. The bathroom walls with all the moisture really need to be wiped down well in-between renters - there were water streaks everywhere. The moisture in the house probably contributes to the film on countertops and on cabinet shelves even though we emptied the dehumidifier twice daily. The beds were comfortable. The supplies were adequate and appreciated. The location was great and we enjoyed sitting on the patio regularly. I would recommend for a quick stay but not longer.

This property had everything we needed for our family trip. We really enjoyed the lake and the large yard. The house was very cozy and comfortable. We had everything at the house to make great memories on a family vacation.

Bass Lake In Elk Rapids.
Lovely stay - very nice and quiet, exactly what I was looking for attending a work conference in Traverse City - gave me a space to get away and enjoy in peace...even had some colleagues over for an evening around the campfire and we all agreed it was much better than booking hotel rooms and spending $$$ on high-end dinners - this was a better experience for me. Everything about the process was smooth. I had read comments about musty-ness in the property and was a little concerned. While there is a slight bit I detected when I walked in, it's nothing to be concerned about whatsoever. Walked in and literally said "it's a cottage - this is exactly what I was anticipating". Enjoyed the stay very much. Thank you.

Little things
It is a small very sweet little place. Right on the water. Was throughly enjoyable for the 2 of us and our Lab. (Who enjoyed the water and ducks). My only thing is….please maybe leave instructions for the TV. And, put more lamps in. Brighter light bulb in kitchen. Maybe even night lights around? Got a tad dark at night and trying to find the bathroom was a tad hazardous.

Nice location
This place is cute, but man does it smell musty. I figured this would be the case given the other reviews, but wow. Definitely don’t suggest staying here unless you can keep some windows open. There’s clearly an issue with ventilation here. Too bad because it is honestly a cute spot and very well located. Otherwise, it’s fine. The master bed could use a replacement mattress or bed frame, we ended up using the other bedroom for this reason, which was fine just something to note if you toss and turn like I do, it’s loud. The WiFi connection was good enough for light streaming, our phones and working, so that was nice. The backyard area is very nice, it was too cold for us to use it much, but it’s kept up very well, I could see this being a great hang out spot in the summer. Another suggestion, and this may have been listed somewhere and I missed it, but label the wall switches. There are switches that control certain outlets in different places, super confusing when you first arrive and you’re trying to the get the heat going (because yes, there is a switch that controls the outlet the furnace unit is attached to). I’d also suggest looking into a new cleaning company, whatever their standards are, they’re mediocre at best. All in all though, it was fine enough for a weekend, I wouldn’t book it for anything longer than that, though, unless they can get the smell thing figured out.

Great service, cozy environment
We were very impressed with the responsiveness of the management staff. A hiccup with the wifi password and a question about the heater were resolved quickly and thoughtfully. The location - right on the lake - was great (esp because our dog loves to swim) but also for just looking at. Great location.

Not worth it
I don’t feel that the property was cleaned well. There was mold in the shower and the closet reeked of mold and must there was sand on the couches. For the price of the cleaning service I was charged, it should be way better. Also, the rental permit displayed expired two years ago. No instructions to turn on air and the fans are coated in dust.

The place was conveniently located. The major problem was upon entering the place it wreaked of mildew/mold. Apparently the owner knows of this issue as there were dehumidifying items all around, they are not working. We really could not enjoy our stay due to the stench. I realize it was less expensive than others but it is a health hazard & should not be allowed as a rental until repaired.

Great House and Location
Our stay was great and the house was wonderful. However, the lack of information in regards to there being no A/C at this house was unfortunate; such information should be up front. But the weather was perfect so it fortunately was not needed for the stay. Wifi was difficult so we did not hook to it as there was 10 different things with different information. All in all we enjoyed the stay and would go back, but better instructions would definitely help.

Perfect up north getaway
This cabin was the perfect long weekend getaway! The house had enough place for 4 people and a picturesque backyard and view of the lake. The grill and fire pit was a fantastic amenity to be able to roast s’mores and burgers all weekend. The location was walkable to all the local places and a quick drive to traverse city. The house was clean, easy to check in, had enough basic amenities, the beds were comfy, the Wi-Fi was fast. I’d love to come back to this property.

Nice lakeside get away
We enjoyed a few days at the dragonfly. We were able to go hiking in Leelenau, shopping in Traverse City, catch a sunset across the way in Elk Rapids and have our dogs with us at the house. I recommend the Happy Camper coffee shop downtown-great coffee, best hot chocolate and amazing views.

Right on the smaller lake and within walking distance to bars/restaurants and the big lake. There are two bedrooms with 1 bathroom. A VERY SMALL galley kitchen. The house probably wouldn't be good for a long stay with many people. There were a few things that were in need of repair that I noticed while I was there. A few housekeeping things as well, but overall, it was a decent experience. If you don't like renting from a property management company, don't rent this unit - it looks like it is rented by an individual on the VRBO site, but then you'll get an email from a separate property management company to pay/contact to rent the unit. Just an FYI.

Perfect Getaway
The house was perfect for my girlfriend, dog and I. The property is taken care of and clean. The back yard is large with beach access to bass lake, we used the kayaks provided with the house rental and the water is clear and not deep off the shore. The backyard was perfect for playing games like bags/cornhole. We grilled every night and had a fire with both are provided with the rental. Also, a really nice patio set and chairs by the fire pit. One night we stayed in and use the kitchen table to play card games. The kitchen is perfect for the couple of days and has a oven, large fridge and freezer. The bath looks out into the backyard and has a stand in shower. Then two bedroom which were clean and comfortable. In the living room is a large tv and sofas ( we didn’t even tv on once). Fans were provided because the place does not have A/C but we had no issues. This location is close to downtown elk rapids which is adorable and has a wonderful public beach “memorial park” which is connected to the traverse City bay which is crystal clear. Then you are only a short drive to elk lake and about a 15 minute drive to Torch lake sandbar. Torch lake is incredible and this house was perfect for the trip. It’s close to so many things.

Place was nice and for the most part clean. Great location and access to the pier and use of the Kayaks were a nice bonus. There was some mold in the bathroom shower that should be cleaned. Also yard is full of goose poop. Maybe this is common for the area but it made the yard kind of unusable. I would recommend this place and would also rent again.

Overall good experience - convenient location to grocery store and local beach. Grocery store is big and should have anything you need and it’s only 2 blocks away. The Local restaurant is only 1 block away and has good food. We went for breakfast the one morning. Property had 2 kayaks and Wi-Fi which was a nice surprise as those weren’t listed on property description. Bass lake isn’t a lake for swimming, but since you are just a couple minutes from the public beach it’s not a big deal unless you are expecting to swim on the Dragonfly property. We enjoyed kayaking in the morning, though. Recommend going to Elk Lake or Torch Lake. Both have really nice water and great for water activities. The geese were frequent visitors on the property and so there was quite a bit of geese poo, but that was probably my only con.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First let me start by saying I have rented numerous waterfront houses. I know that spiders and bugs are more present on the water. I’m a boater and live on my boat in the summers so I am well aware. BUT this house was ridiculously unkept. Walking in the front door was terrifying. There were about 9 huge spiders covering the entrance. The inside had so many webs throughout the house. Not cobwebs. Webs with bugs that clearly have been there a long time based on size. And the multiple signs around about the bugs don’t make it better. We were so extremely uncomfortable the entire weekend. We looked into hotels but they were too expensive so we were stuck. This house is in desperate needs of some attention to detail. The only mirror in the bathroom is the medicine cabinet that doesn’t close and is awkward to use. The bathroom was so hot but I couldn’t open the window because it was infested with webs and spiders. The only other mirror is in the hallway with no lights or outlets. Mirrors in the bedrooms would be helpful. The beds were very uncomfortable with springs sticking in my back. A simple topper would help tremendously. I slept on the couch. We were afraid to open drawers and closets not knowing what was in there. I know this was a more affordable option but that doesn’t mean it has to be dirty. We even had to go buy a candle to help with the smell. A few simple things would have completely changed the experience. I would Not recommend this place to anyone.

Small waterfront cottage
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cottage was well equipped in a convenient location with near by restaurants and beaches. The only drawbacks were the back sliding screen door would stick or come off the track easily. Many windows had screens with holes in them. The kitchen cupboards needed a deep cleaning: a broken bowl was in a cupboard, food was way past expiration dates, dust under tables and beds. Front door lock would not lock sometimes , had to play with the handle and the couch had dog hair on it. Also next to the stove, the floor was full of old food and needs a deep cleaning.
