About this property

Oceanfront Cottage directly on the beach

The Barnacle is a one of a kind cottage only a few steps from the ocean. It’s nestled into a natural swail in the topography which gives it a nice private feeling with to die for views and access to the beach. At high tide you are literally eye level with the water. Cook lobsters, s’mores or better yet both right on the beach.

The Barnacle is best for families of 4 and under, two couples or just anyone who loves access to the water and wants a one of a kind small authentic Maine cottage. There are two bedrooms off the back of the cottage with a queen bed in the master and two twin beds in the second bedroom. Barnacle has a cute and very functional kitchen again with a beautiful view of Flood’s Cove as you prepare your coffee in the morning or other meals throughout the day. There is a dining room table and a cozy living/sitting room and bathroom with shower.

You can use the kayaks and paddle boards provided by Flood’s Cove or keep your own on the beach just a few feet from the cottage. If you are a swimmer you will love the Barnacle for your morning swim or afternoon coll off. There is an outside hot/cold shower provided to rinse off before you settle down to read your book or getting dressed for the evening. The Barnacle can sleep four easily. It has a bath with a shower stall, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and two large bedrooms. The Barnacle's bedrooms include a queen bed and two single beds. The entire front of the Barnacle faces the ocean and contains multiple large windows from which to view the open ocean as you sit and relax.

A piece of paradise!
Flood's Cove was the quintessential Maine getaway we were looking for. And you cannot get any closer to the water’s edge than the Barnacle. Our cottage was rustic, charming clean and well equipped. The property owners were attentive, responsive, and clearly know what they are doing. Just about all the other guests staying on the property were friendly and seem to come back year after year! And we only had one day of rain in three weeks!

It's a unique 70 +/- acre estate with 1.25 miles of shore frontage and a 11 acre private island. Floods Cove has been in the Flood family for over a hundred years. It used to belong to a sea captain that sailed and fished off of the Grand Banks. Over the past 120 years, the Flood family has created an oceanfront family vacation destination. We rent seven oceanfront cottages each with their unique history and story. We also offer two beaches, playground, boats, kayaks and lots of tasty lobster, wine, and killer ocean sunsets.
