"We", myself, husband, sister and her husband booked the cottage for the week of Fathers Day. We had a small family picnic with our 80+ yr old parents and our siblings. This cottage was perfect. It was just like the cottage I spent my summers at when I was a child on a lake nearby. It is aged.. but I loved it. We were able to bring our 2 dogs, and the layout of the house was perfect to accommodate them. It was 90+ and HUMID, for the week so we did end up bringing a portable AC up from our folks and that made it comfortable. Bottled water is a must but that was no big deal. I loved the claw foot tub, it took me back.
A neat cottage with great waterfront access. Many little amenities that made the stay for me and my young family (plus my mom/dad) a memorable one. The owners were great to work with during the stay. We enjoyed every minute of our time on the lake!
Amy is an amazing host and her cottage is wonderful. Great yard for lawn games or just hanging out. The cottage is always immaculate and meets all our Cuba Lake needs and more! See you next year!
We didn’t want to leave!
The cabin is charming and well equipped, the location is the biggest attribute.
Yes it was built in the 20’s and has a few quirks but our group loved it for those reasons.
The lake was warm and very boat friendly which is where we spent most of our time.
It was nice having the town of Cuba so close by for all our grocery needs and an occasional takeout meal.
Next time I will better prepare for shade as there is very little in the afternoon sun.. a small pop up canopy would be the perfect solution.
The owners are close by and very friendly and accommodating, we needed a few items and the brothers were quick to help out!
Our age range was 6 months to 57 with a pack of 21 year olds that came for a night..
It was perfect
Great place to stay on the lake with a huge yard! Makes a safe place for younger children to run and play while not in the water. My family really enjoyed our stay.
This was the perfect location and size for our family and friends. It was so relaxing and the owner was super accessible. This was exactly the stress free vacation I had hoped for.
This was our second time renting this quaint cottage and we had such a great time once again! It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors! We rented a pontoon boat for a few days and that was an absolute ball as well! Thanks again, Amy!
We loved Amy’s cottage! Everything was clean and well stocked. Large kitchen and cozy living room with lots of places to sit. Great backyard for volleyball net and yard games. We will be back next year!
Nice owners, great cottage, very accommodating, comfortable. Only problem was with me. I’m disabled and cottage was on a sloping hill. I pretty much stayed on side deck and left early.
The only thing that we would've loved to have (besides a boat) was a deck off from the kitchen. There is no patio/porch/deck and we had to bring our own gas grill. The one there was no good
Owners are friendly and helpful. Feeling of house is retro-funk. If you want all the bells and whistles of modern day house, this won’t be the place for you. But if you want a look into Cuba Lake as it was back in the day, a huge yard to play and lounge in, a great swim spot, and a gorgeous setting, book now!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
would not rent again. Very disappointed.
House was very hot brought fans from home and not able to plug them in because no electrical outlets. At night house was very cold only one space heater available for the entire cottage and fireplace did not work because it kept tripping every two minutes too many things on that electrical outlet. Water stunk terrible went downtown and purchased deodorizers so that cottage would not smell like the sulfur water. Showered at home every day and not able to shower because of the smell was so bad. Went home every other day to get water jugs filled for cooking and cleaning. Just not a great experience for what we paid. Spent more time away from the cottage than at the cottage.
The house is located perfectly in the lake. Great lawn area and lots of room to sleep. It is an older lake house but very clean and neat. Amy was super responsive and a pleasure to speak with. All questions and needs addressed immediately. We had a great time.
Amy was an excellent communicator and our stay at her cottage on Cuba Lake was very enjoyable! We were able to tie down a boat at her dock and there were 5 comfortable beds for sleeping.
My family had so much fun at the cottage! We did not want to leave! Everything was just as described in the listing and was bright and clean! You can swim right off the dock and we rented a boat at the marina for a couple days and the dock was perfect for that as well. I had to work a couple of mornings and the WiFi was more than adequate for that as well. I would definitely book again! Amy answered all of my questions, it was a great week!!
This little cottage is much bigger inside than it appears. The owner was quick with responses when something was needed. I needed to work a bit while there and no troubles with this /internet connection was great. Weather started to turn but has electric fireplace so thus helped w the chill.

Happy to be back!
This is our second visit at cottage 251. The new beds were great, and the fresh coat of paint in the living room made it feel cozy. Everything was wonderful, and we will be back next year. Thank you Amy!
This vintage cottage is exactly as I expected it would be....original wooden floors, claw foot tub, metal frame beds, dock to fish from and the use of 2-kayaks which my family totally enjoyed. Cuba Lake is clean and clear and the property provided everything we needed for a memorable 1-week stay. There is WiFi with Roku which was a plus for those raining days (we had a few).
We brought bikes and road the approx. 7 miles around the lake and also took the bikes 25 minutes down the road to Olean and biked the 5.25 mi loop on the Allegheny River Valley Trail (very nice). Olean has a Walmart, BJs, fishing/hunting store, and other unique shops.
The town of Cuba (approx. 2 mi) is quaint and is home of the Cuba Cheese Shoppe (a must see). There is also a grocery and hardware store, ice cream stand, a couple of pizza shops/restaurants and other specialty shops. And in between the lake and the town is Oil Springs Reservation with two convenient stores and a small gambling casino if you want to try your luck. We also took the short 1h 47m drive to Niagara Falls State Park, U.S.A.
I could say a lot more about the area with it's rich history, majestic scenery, friendly people but I don't want to give away all the reasons why you should stay here. I will end with letting you know that Amy (the property owner) is an awesome host, she responded to my questions via talk/txt/msg within minutes, and was respectful of our privacy. My family is already talking about planning to vacation here again. Thank you Amy for everything.
Nice vintage cottage-recommended for family and pets
Amy and her family were very accommodating. The cottage is vintage and somewhat rustic, but our family of 7 enjoyed our time together there with our two fur babies.
Kitchen was well-stocked, WiFi worked great, well-water had a mild sulfur smell, but all cottages at Cuba lake have well-water. Just recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and coffee. The swimming area was not mucky and we were in the lake everyday. Plenty of towels too. Only recommendation is to get newer beds. Amy even put the two twins together to make a king. That was greatly appreciated. Pet friendly and rugs were clean, no evidence of previous pets. The yard is plenty big, and we had bonfires a few nights while we were there.
We really enjoyed our two weeks there, and are planning on renting next summer too.
We recommend the Cuba Lake Marina if interested in renting a pontoon. They were very responsive to our questions and even though it was pricey, we enjoyed our pontoon everyday.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The house was clean and comfortable and so adorable. We would definitely visit again!

Lake was great and owner was really nice, but..
We just didn’t find it very accommodating. The cottage itself is not in great shape, and it says it sleeps 11, however we had a very difficult time sleeping 8, putting people on couches. The biggest issue was the water. When you run the water, it smells like metal and really bad rotten eggs. The water is untreated well water and caused a few people with us who had sulphur allergies to get rashes and nausea. Sulfur can cause allergic reactions in some people and I was a bit surprised we werent notified prior. It was hard to feel comfortable there with exposed wires in the kitchen, and the top floor was taped off because of a bats. But again, owners were really nice, the lake was great, and it’s in a great section of NY. It was just unfortunate because we ended up booking 3 nights and left after only 2 nights due to the water situation. Owner said it was possibly a bad coil in the water heater and she called the Plummer, but the Plummer didn’t come by Sunday, so we left early.

Relaxing Step Back in Time
I spent five days at this cottage with family and made some wonderful memories. We found it to be spacious and inviting with lots of historic charm. Although set back in time, the kitchen was fully functional. Bathroom was fully functional with newer toilet and pedestal sink. Clawfoot tub had curtain and shower. The large living area made for enjoyable relaxing indoors. The two eating areas (one in the dining room, one in the enclosed porch area) were very convenient. The large lawn between the cottage and the lake made for enjoyable relaxation and lawn games outdoors. Used the gas grill quite frequently. We brought our camp chairs and enjoyed a bon fire most every night. We brought some small boats and fishing gear. Just fished from our dock and did not have much luck, but it was fun anyway. It's a nice small lake and not intimidating for first time boaters. Much more quiet and calm than other lakes we have visited. Found some puzzles in the cottage for a rainy morning. Cable and internet worked well. Some of us had to walk to the shore to get phone service, but it was actually kind of nice not to have cell phones going off all the time indoors. Water has some sulfur in it - really only noticeable with the hot water - and I had to explain to my daughter that sulfur is actually a healthy thing and she was fine. Plenty of extras provided, such as dishsoap, salt and pepper, cooking spray, small bottles of shampoo, stack of clean dishcloths, towels, washcloths, cleaning supplies, beach towels, marshmallow sticks, lighters. Too many to mention them all. Owner's relatives live next door and were very helpful with whatever we needed. Staying in an older cottage makes for some great teachable moments for kids and also some great unique memories! If this is what you are looking for, I would definitely recommend it!
