This was the exact getaway I needed. A fire ring, a grill, tables outside and the last night the sky finally cleared an I was able to watch the meteor shower. The clearing around the cabin is perfect for star gazing there is wifi so if you dont want to be so disconnected from the rest of the world. This trip brought me back to me and this cabin was the perfect place to do it!
This is our second time staying at this cabin. It was just as good as the first time. The cabin is clean and the stars are amazing to look at during the nighttime. No complaints whatsoever. Although, I would recommend bringing a fan in the hotter months. The AC doesnt reach back to the bedroom that well. Thanks again Benn! Looking forward to booking again in the future.
We rented this cabin because of the dark skies close to Cherry Springs. Through no fault of the owner of this property, it was cloudy every night. I think some sort of porch to sit on outside when it rains would be a great addition. Benn, the owner, was very considerate when we needed to contact him about a leak. He went so far as to give us recommendations for restaurants. He was very friendly.
Wanted to take a weekend to unplug and relax. Short drive to Cherry Springs SP to take in some amazing night sky views. Cabin was comfortable and well stocked with all of our needs. Overall had a great time
A wonderful place for a getaway and to recharge your soul!
This cabin has all the essentials needed for your visit except bath towels. It is secluded and private, you definitely need four wheel drive in bad weather. The lane back to the cabin is a bit muddy but hey you’re in Potter and it is Gods Country, just look around at all the beauty it has to offer. Beautiful sky’s at night and wildlife can be seen right outside the cabin. We saw Deer, Bear tracks in the driveway, wild Turkeys and birds signing every morning while drinking our hot coffee, that was made in a well furnished kitchen. We were able to slow down, rewind our minds and go back to a more simple way of living at this cabin in Potter County!
Wow wow wow! What a wonderful experience. This little cabin is well maintained and beautiful. It feel like you are in your own little paradise. My best friend and I were very pleased with the check in and check out process. The cabin was well stocked. The water pressure wasn't spectacular, but that is to be expected in this kind of environment. Stores are about 15-20 minutes away from the cabin. My only concern was that the keypad was having an issue. Sometimes we had to put the code in 2-3 times for it to open. After the first incident, I kept my keys on me while we were outside. I would recommend that to the next visitor, or just don't fully close the door. Also, a curtain for the front door would be nice. Other than that, our BFF trip was fantastic. Thank you, Benn! We will definitely be back!
Overall the property was as described and the view of the sky was limited.
Owner should supply emergency contact information at the cabin (the door lock is battery operated). What if they die during your stay. He should also consider placing reflectors at the end of lane for easier night locating.
Good quite location. We didn't go to cherry springs park to see the stars but the view from the house was incredible. The dogs enjoyed the water run off next to the yard. Thank you!
The cabin is small but clean and very comfortable and the location is quiet and secluded. It is around 20 minutes to the Black Forest Trail and even closer to Cherry Springs, although you may just want to stay at the cabin for stargazing since it's almost as good. Highly recommended!
This little cabin in the woods had everything we needed. It's in a remote location, but also close enough to any stores for necessities and very close to many state parks in the area. We packed mostly ready to go meals for this trip and the kitchen had everything we needed. It's a small little place, but that added to the appeal and it worked just fine for us. It was chilly during our stay and we stayed nice and warm inside. We were surprised and pleased with the WiFi, but there is definitely no cell service here. We didn't use the TV, but there is a large selection of DVDs and books to keep you occupied. We had a maintenance issue and Benn was quickly available to check it out and made it right for us. It was peak “leaf peeping” during our trip and the surrounding area and state parks were absolutely stunning! I wish I would have taken more time to enjoy the quiet in the area!
This property is a comfortable, cozy cabin set back in the woods. Full working kitchen and bathroom. Fire pit area is great for star gazing! Benn is a great host and we look forward to our next visit.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy, what we like to call, "a GEM in the woods". We had such a relaxing weekend....disconnected from it all we enjoyed every second. We were a lil bummed as we got rained out on the first night and couldn't do the stargazing but the second night was amazing. We didnt even have to go to Cherry Spring State Park (though we did just to check it out) for the stars as we had the perfect view right from the cabin. All i can say is absolutely serene....we didnt have any complaints! Hope to be back soon!!!
I’ve always want to stay in a cabin in the woods during winter. I was especially please with morning snow. This little place didn’t disappoint. The photos don’t do it justice. Bed is firm. They supplied extra blankets. Overnight the outside temperature was around 8 degrees, but we were cozy inside. We were minutes from Cherry Springs and the Vista. We seen lots of deer and black squirrels. Four wheel drive is definitely needed during the winter months. We loved our weekend get away and will be back again, maybe in a different season.
My husband and I visited the area for the first time for a weekend getaway. Even though we got rained out, we made the best of it. Our cabin was cute and cozy. It was very clean. The fall foliage in the area was beautiful. This is a nice place to stay if your looking to disconnect and relax.
