It has a King & Queen Bedroom both have en-suite full bathrooms & private decks. There is an additional half bath on the main floor & queen sleeper sofa in den.

Barrier Dunes has 2 pools (1 is gulf front & 2nd is heated 4 mo. a year), lighted tennis courts, 3 fresh water fishing ponds, playground, pet stations, boat parking, boat washing area, and boardwalks throughout!

In the evening, sit on your deck and take in the awesome beauty of a moonlit night & stars larger & in more abundance than you've ever seen. No city lights or commercialism on the Cape!

April on the Cape

Not sure why this review request is coming in November for an April stay, but we had a great time. We will definitely stay here again. Short walk to the beach. Condo location great. Also the unit was clean. The beach buggy needed repair/ replace but it worked. The owners were working on the back deck

Wonderful!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cape Escape! It was wonderful! Clean, plenty of space for our 2 boys and our Boston Terrier. We loved the community feel of Barrier Dunes.. kids riding bikes, people walking their pups, & to and from the beach. We were just a short walk to the beach & both pools. And super close to the state park, which we love. Longbills & Coneheads are a short bike ride or drive- even walk! We had a minor issue with our AC unit during our stay, but Devi was very prompt in getting someone over to take care of it, which we appreciated during a hot week. Overall, we loved this property & would definitely stay here again.

GREAT LOCATION!!!

This condo was perfect for our two week stay over Christmas! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, including spices!! The closest downstairs had plenty of chairs for the beach so we didn’t have to try and fit some in our car! The pond view from the back was awesome but what was even better was the small ocean view from the Master bedroom!!! It was so cool being able to see if the ocean was calm or wavy from the patio! The owners are also amazing with communication! I highly recommend staying in this unit!

We loved this place

The place was well stocked with cleaning supplies. We forgot our auto dish detergent pods, found a huge supply from Sam’s under the sink. Close to the beach very short walk. All went well.

spring break cape san blas barrier dunes

First time for our family at Cape San blas. I had been before in my teens so lots had changed and good to see area could rebuild after storm. Our rental was "ok" . I did not realize complex was so large thus lots of people crowding area on beach . We had to lug stuff way down beach to get away. Mistake - will not book complexes/high density unit again. Our unit, I believe, had to have had storm damage - water damage as it literally stunk of mildew or something causing horrible smell as you entered bottom floor. it was bad - very bad. We had some other issues of ants in kitchen and palmetto bugs. Just not pleasant but can understand those issues with location and rental etc. Weather was not the best with weather and - storms coming through but still got to have beach time - fished and enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets.

A Wonderful Week at Cape Escape II

From the moment we stepped into your place, we noticed how nicely furnished each room was! The kitchen was stocked with everything to cook, even lots of spices! This beautiful townhouse had plenty of everything we needed for the week. Wendy was a wonderful host, getting back to us whenever we had a question. We will definitely use Wendy to rent another townhouse in Barrier Dunes!

Cute, comfortable, convenient

The kids loved being able to feed the turtles from the back deck. It was an easy walk to beach and pools. It was a short drive to the state park which was a lot fun and a ton of shells. The house was clean and comfortable with all the basics which made packing a lot easier.

The Best Pet Friendly Vacation EVER

We now live in Savannah, GA, and we’ve lived on the east coast of Florida previously. Therefore deciding to spent the Christmas holidays at The Cape Escape condos on a tiny north-south spit of land named Cape San Blas, west of Apalachicola, Florida came as a surprise to us and to our family and friends. We wanted a quieter holiday this year. We also wanted to be able to take our two miniature long haired dachshunds. The location had to be on the water and it had to be within a day’s drive of our home. Off to the internet! Cape San Blas and Port St. Joe are small, quiet, unassuming areas. The Cape is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and the St Joseph Bay. The area is called The Forgotten Coast. It hasn’t yet been discovered, but we’re sure it will be soon. The beaches are wonderful. Since it was Christmastime, we weren’t swimming or doing any of the water activities, but we are returning to do so in March of this year. Our condo was adorable, and it was even better than described. We had two bedrooms and two and a half baths. There was ample covered parking under our unit for two cars with space still available for the provided gas grill. The first floor’s kitchen was more than adequately supplied, right down to cocktail sauce cups and oyster knives. There was seating at the kitchen bar for two and and chairs at the table for six. The living/family room had two large sofas and a TV in the corner with a sliding glass door that looked out to our small lagoon. Steps from that door lead down to the first floor, and at the top of the porch was a safety gate to keep in dogs and kids. The bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms were at the front and rear of the unit on the third floor with a well stocked linen closet and a washer and dryer between them. We are pet lovers and as such, this was THE perfect place for us to be. We had to smile every day with the number and variety of dogs coming and going. ‘Dog Waste’ stations were everywhere with plenty of baggies provided both in the community and on the beach. On our first morning, as we were traipsing outdoors for the dogs’ first potty stop of the day, in the dark, with our flashlights, at 6 a.m., we were delighted to see that our dogs are not the only one with such Benjamin Franklin hours. We ran into at least a half dozen other humans taking their pets out for their absolutions. "Good mornings," were said by all, and a few barks were sounded. A fabulous place to stay.

I just loved this property! My husband and kids loved feeding the turtles & fishing off the deck!

I just loved this property! My husband and kids loved feeding the turtles & fishing off the deck! There was plenty of room. We had a fabulous time! I especially liked being so close to the beach. I loved the decor, very beachy and comfortable, and the condo was immaculate! We had some great meals, and did not need for anything in the kitchen. There was everything for cooking you could possibly think of, even spices! It was really nice not having to pack all the essentials. I especially liked the pantry to keep all your food! The beds and living room furniture was very comfortable. I have a bad back, so the bed is very important! We had some great times out on the beach, uncrowded and quiet, and the bonfires at night while watching the sunset were fantastic! My husband and kids also loved surf fishing every day! One day we rented a boat and went exploring on the end of the cape in St Joe State Park. The kids were finding all kinds of creatures! They had a blast! Once again we made some awesome family memories that will last for a lifetime! Thank you so much Wendy, we can't wait to go back!

Memorial Day Weekend

My family of 5 stayed here over Memorial Day Weekend. We chose this rental because Wendy, the owner, was so easy to work with. She allowed us to do a 3 night stay, which was perfect. The condo was clean upon arrival and there were no surprises. We loved the use of the beach chairs, cart and toys. It was about a 150 yard walk to the beach over an easy to navigate boardwalk. Our favorite part was having a bonfire on the beach. We would definitely stay at any of her Barrier Dunes rentals in the future.

I could go on and on about the complex, our condo, the beach, and the water.

My daughter and I (and our two Golden Retrievers) just returned from Barrier Dunes. I could go on and on about the complex, our condo, the beach, and the water.....but, that's all obvious in the gorgeous photos. What I'm beyond thankful for was Wendy going out of her way to accommodate some last minute change of plans, which were out of my control. She took care of us and had us in a beautiful, comfortable condo, in no time. From there, we went on to have an amazing and oh, so relaxing time. I have an upcoming vacation to Mexico with my kids in January. While I'm excited about it, I'm already sad about having to leave my furry friends behind. Already looking at my 2017 calendar to return to Barrier Dunes.

The condo was so nice and clean....had everything. Truly felt like home!

Thank you so much for all of your help in scheduling this trip! We had an absolutely wonderful time. The condo was so nice and clean, it had everything we could have asked for and it truly felt like home. We were all really impressed with how lovely the condo and beach were. The beach was fantastic, not too crowded and very pristine. We enjoyed taking walks on the beach with the pups and shelling, along with just spending hours being lazy and watching the waves roll in while we relaxed on the beach. To top of an incredible vacation my sister and her boyfriend got engaged while we were there! I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves and how nice the condo and area were. We are already talking about booking with you again next year, hopefully for an even longer stay!! I personally forgot to take pictures (I never remember to take pictures!) but I will check with everyone else and email you any pictures we have of the dogs enjoying the beach. Thank you again for all of your help and hospitality! I look forward to returning to the cape soon!! Thank you!

We fell in love with Cape San Blas our very first visit! We didn't even know it was a pet-friendly beach at the time and we've always had dogs and been dog lovers!

At the end of about 2 years we ended up owning 3 properties, all in Barrier Dunes, and were discovering more we loved about the Cape every trip! Our kids starting going to Cape San Blas when there were 4 and 6 and both are now in college. I look forward to enjoying the Cape with their families when the time comes!

When I started renting, I was a mom of young kids and realized it was a LOT of work to get ready for vacation, so I try to make it as easy as possible for folks renting with Cape Escape Vacation Rentals. I provide everything from beach chairs down to the little things you want when you're on vacation, but many trash bags, laundry detergent and LOTS in between. I also try to communicate as many details as possible before your vacation and provide a very complete guest information book about the area once you arrive so you don't have to do the research!

Some of our favorite things to do are: Bonfires at the beach after sunset, scalloping in the bay, kayaking, Indian Pass Raw Bar to enjoy oysters, crab legs & steam shrimp as well as great local music and company, a day poking around the stores (and eating) in Apalachicola many things!

I look forward to having you enjoy a Cape Escape soon!
