About this property

Historic Cabin in the Southern Adirondacks - August Dates Still Available

Welcome to Wind in the Pines Cabin, just a short walk from tranquil Lake Algonquin. Located in a quiet mountain community of Wells, New York, come and stay with us as you relax and recharge among the wonders of the Adirondack Mountains. We have maintained the rustic character of this 1945 cabin, while still providing a comfortable place to rest and recharge.

There are two single kayaks and a tandem kayak available, along with carts, paddles and PFDs. There is a gas grill and many outdoor games. The fire pit has two chairs and a swing for your quiet evenings of family, friends and conversation. We also have a hammock for the ultimate in relaxation.

The garage is available for guests to use for locked storage. So bring your bikes! We even have the tire pump!

There are MANY hiking trails close by, including the Northville-Lake Placid Trail, making this an ideal spot to "step off." The variety of trails mean that the whole family can "take a hike."

The updated kitchen is fully equipped (range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, k-cup). There is a small work desk with even a built in charging station.

There is new or refinished flooring throughout the cabin. The main bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed. The spacious porch has an almost silent ceiling fan, and a futon. The storm doors have retractable screens. Custom curtains and new screens have been added to the windows.

There is central air conditioning for those sultry summer days. The gas logs in the original river stone fireplace add ambiance and warmth on those chilly mornings and nights.

We have games, puzzles and books just for the kids! There is a Blu-ray player, with a selection of DVDs, plus a Smart TV with many steaming channels for those rainy days. The internet has been upgraded to 500 mbps.

Guests will need to bring their own bedding, bath and/or beach towels. We will provide all basic paper products, cleaning supplies, complimentary k-cups, condiments and other items to make you feel welcome.

Awesome little cabin for a pretty reasonable price

This cabin was a blast to stay in. Had a lot of fun using the fire pit, watching scary movies at night in October, the cabin is in great condition, the hosts were very friendly and answered our questions quickly, and it's in a nice area. Only complaints are the shower is pretty tight, we had trouble getting the grill to work, and the login for streaming services asked us to pay even when using the hosts' account. Would definitely recommend jt!

Excellent getaway destination

We stayed here for a weekend getaway with our 3 teenagers. The cabin met all of our needs. Everyone had a nice place to sleep and enjoyed the relaxing space. We loved the bear themed lake view residence. The futon on the porch was very comfortable. Location was great and hosts were very quick to respond to our questions. We would stay here again!

Great getaway

From a kid’s perspective: We loved all the mountain stuff. It was so much fun to sit on the porch and play board games and do puzzles. We loved to play out back in the yard. Our little sister loved the bear with the cub and “bearly” ever put it down This was the best cabin ever!!! I wish we were staying another night.

Father’s Day Weekend!

Had a great little get a way to celebrate Father’s Day with our young kids! The cabin was wonderful and had everything we needed (thank you for the bug spray!). The location is spectacular, located very close to lovely lake and lots of day hikes. Would highly recommend!

Perfect Cabin on the Lake!

Paul and Monica were very helpful and detailed in their communication to ensure a smooth check in and stay. They have everything you need to enjoy your time at the lake. The cabin was lovely! The screened in porch was a great sanctuary away from the flies when they got to be too much. We ate every meal out there to enjoy the fresh air. We loved the black bear theming inside the cabin, and the kitchen was a great size and had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back!

We loved the cabin and our location. It reminded me of the town I grew up in. The quiet mountain atmosphere felt like home. Plenty of hikes and fishing. The cabin provided the perfect home base. Can't say enough good things about the hosts and cabin. We will definitely be back.

30th anniversary

Beautiful area! Cute cabin, very comfortable. Very peaceful setting. We enjoyed our stay very much! The shower is a bit small and might be a concern for a larger individual, but worked fine for us.

Pleasant stay

This cabin was the perfect combination of rustic and comfort. The updated kitchen stands out as a wonderful feature. Lovely screened front porch. Cool amenities such as fishing poles and kayaks. The owners were very responsive, dropping off a dehumidifier due to the abnormally muggy weather during our stay. (Recommend this as a permanent addition) We look forward to staying there again next year!

We love the look and location of this cabin. Once we had a chance to see the charm and coziness of the interior, we knew that, with a little TLC, this could be a relaxing family retreat.

This is our second property in Wells and we are so happy that we can share its charm with you.

What makes this property unique

The cabin has an extra large lot, with views of Lake Algonquin. It is only a short walk to where the watercraft are launched, and to our Association's private sandy beach.
