And than to a large kitchen that is packed with all types of cooking gadgets, wine glasses & dishes of all kinds. Some cooking supplies are there. Coffee supplied but bring your favorite K-cups. Food processors, blenders, many types of pots & pans, baking supplies, juicer, toaster, bagel toaster, rice cooker, crock pots (sm. large, triple sm, triple large) eating and cooking utensils and a lot more. Located here is also many rubber boots, life preservers, and rain gear for use. I have many sizes but no guarantees they will fit all your needs.

Steps to the right lead you back up to the upper level and outdoor patio with propane grill (will try to keep some propane on hand). Next to this is a small picnic table for extra seating.

The back yard has beautiful pond and man made creek. Just a small enough area to enjoy a game of croquet. Many other fun toys will be under deck to use too.

YOU PICK GARDENS, I have blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, and other vegies when in season. Radishes, pea pods, strawberries there now! Hydroponic lettuce, and herbs everywhere for use. PLEASE ONLY for use at home, remember I will have other guests who will want to enjoy the crops too.

Hay bale gardens not started yet but will be planted soon with squash and pumpkins.

Great Bay House Stay!

This was a great getaway! The owner made us feel welcomed right away. The views are fantastic and we saw interesting wildlife everyday (seals, sea otter, a large number of water birds, deer, and all the beach creatures!). The owner even allowed us to enjoy fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits from her gardens. The home is very accommodating, plenty of whatever you need. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we extended our stay an extra week!

Felt like a home filled with longstanding buddies

Such a wonderful experience! The house is filled with supplies to make our stay fun, from kayaks to board games to craft supplies to barbecue grill. The house layout made it possible for us to gather, then go do some alone time. The temperature shot up outside during our stay, but stayed just fine inside with minimal a/c. JC is a terrific host. Highly recommend!

Amazing and More

I saw the review that there was only 1 roll of paper. To that person, you didn't look. ANYTHING and everything is already there. We forgot syrup for our pancakes, no running to store. it was already there. There was everything you need, even clothes. She had kites! We didn't need a lot. The dogs had great fun in the ocean and exploring the yard. If you have a beagle not a great place for you; however, everyone else the dogs love smelling all the stuff in the yard and on our walks. The sun deck was where we spent a lot of time. Nice breeze, see it all and pups on the couch and floor. JC is so lovely! The Neighbors were friendly and giving advice. There are grocery stores near by, but you won't likely need them. It was fun playing in the water and seeing the sea otter and seals. JC called to tell us to see an Orca, but we misseed it. I really hope we get to go again soon.

Shelton stay

We had a quick trip to this home. The view from the home is beautiful, and JC is so communicative and made sure we had any questions answered. She also very generously told us we could check in any time and check out anytime. We felt like we had a lot of flexibility which was very nice. She is the best host I’ve interacted with by far! While JC is very nice, the house itself is the reason I’m leaving 3 stars. The house is very full of things - and felt cluttered to us. We also noticed the water has a funny smell and didn’t feel great showering in it. One of the beds as well was very lumpy - it was difficult to sleep on. The rest of the beds were comfortable. The kitchen had lots of tools and pots and pans to cook with. We found a syringe on top of the fridge - it looked like an insulin syringe that someone left behind. The coffee pot also had old coffee in it. We cleaned it with vinegar which was available in the kitchen. It just made us feel like maybe it wasn’t cleaned as thoroughly as it could be. Overall the house was close to family which is what we needed. I think it would be great for a family with all the crafts available. Just not quite what we expected from reading all the other reviews.

Great place for large group

We had 6 people in our group and the house easily accommodated us. We did not feel like we were squished. JC was a great and thoughtful host and communicated so well. She really made me feel that it was important to her that out stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. The house has everything you could possibly need or needed and didn’t know you needed . Plenty of dishes and utensils for large groups. We were able to use the kayaks while we were there. There is even a craft area that JC made sure to show my 11 yo daughter :). The bed I slept in was fine but my other guest didn’t think they were very comfortable. The WiFi is not great. We couldn’t use our phones when in the bedrooms and when using the streaming services on the t.v’s to watch movies, the movies would stop and load every few minutes. The telescope, mentioned in the description, was unfortunately broken. A couple people from my group did get to see some otters enjoying their breakfast of clams and we did find some hermit crabs while walking the beach. This isn’t a beach where you can bring a towel and lay it down kind of beach. The tide brings the water all the way to the house edge and when it goes out is it a beach of rocks, clams and oysters. JC offered to show us how to dig clams! Overall it was a nice vacation. Thank you JC for a lovely stay :)

Great locations, extremely accommodating hostess

This home was perfectly suited to our needs. It is very close to downtown Shelton and restaurants while being beautifully situated along Oakland Bay. My siblings and I convened here from California and Oregon to assist aging parents with assorted projects. Sadly, we weren’t able to enjoy the property during the daytime or partake in any waterfront adventures, but we sure did enjoy the view in the evenings as we decompressed from our long days of hard work. The vegetable garden/s KC has cultivated are very impressive and the beautiful bowl of produce freshly picked and left for our use was a very special touch. A couple of the beds have seen better years, but we were all able to find a spot to sleep comfortably. KC was extremely responsive and helpful, though we were largely self-sufficient given that we were familiar with the area and have several family members who live nearby.

Unbelievable Beauty !

This was my first experience with Vrbo and was very nervous about what I was "signing up for ". The house and beauty of the listing was better than the pictures. The house and host provided everything you may need or even thought you might of forgot. The View from the 3 patios is unbelievable ! Our family enjoyed tide out as much as tide in. We flew kites, found clams/oysters , or just walked along the beach. The view of Mt.Rainier was a daily highlight. We went kayaking, swam, waded.....only problem was time....not enough to enjoy this property. Host is amazing and takes care of everything, and I do mean everything ! We entertained extended family and had ample room for everyone ! Kids had things to do so adults could enjoy ! We are hoping to return next year and would return to this property in a heartbeat ! Thanks JC , you nailed it !

Fantastic, relaxing getaway!

Property has many rooms, nice kitchen/living room/dining room upstairs, as well as a kitchenette in the lower daylight basement. Many bedrooms if you have a large party! The heat was record breaking, but fortunately there is an AC unit in the living room. Enjoyed walking the beach and making s'mores in the outdoor patio area. JC has stocked the house with literally everything, including marshmallows, skewers, and graham crackers! Also, lots of fruit and veggies growing in pots and gardens.

Gorgeous views, ample space

The home had ample space, everyone had their spot they adopted. The sun room and outdoor patios were a great place for morning coffee. The kitchen was huge, everything you need to make meals. Indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. The added benefit of greasy vegetables from the garden. The owner is very nice and gracious. Communication was fantastic. Home is well cared for and clean. Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely weekend on the water

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend on the water. Our children particularly enjoyed the crafts and the fishing poles. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, including a great electric griddle that was perfect for making grilled cheese for everyone. Fun getaway

Had a great time at JC’s. The garden was plentiful and so fun to eat from, we enjoyed walking down the beach and using the kayaks. Was the perfect place for a long weekend. Only suggestion would be to bring a few gallons of water- JC provides a large water tank, but the tap water isn’t potable.

A wonderful stay

J.C. was a great host, even texting us to call to our attention an incredible moonrise, reflecting over the water. She had great suggestions for eating, when the water was perfect for kayaking (there were kayaks there), and more. There were many different spots in the house and outside for sitting back, eating, reading, talking, and enjoying the gorgeous water view. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all there was to do -- to swim/kayak more, make some crafts, etc. For our dog, we could walk on the beach when the tide was out, plus there was a wonderful park, with lovely hiking trails, a 5 minute drive away heading north on state road 3, across from the gas station. The kitchen was incredibly well supplied, and the house was decorated with interesting things around every corner -- not your generic vacation house decoration. The garden was also a beautiful treat. Wifi was strong and reliable, enabling my daughter to do some zoom meetings she needed to do for work. All in all, a wonderful place for work, play, and dog delight..

Amazing and special place

Our stay here was simply amazing. When we first arrived we found a beautiful garden area full of luscious plants and little seating areas, and there were some fresh-picked veggies waiting for us. When we walked around the outside of the house to the back, we immediately wowed by the outstanding view of the bay and a very inviting backyard, with a pond and various pretty seating areas with gorgeous views. Inside, we found fresh-cut flowers and a very bright, spacious, thoughtfully-decorated home. The pictures don't do it justice. It is larger than we envisioned, and we found everything we needed, from everything under the sun to use for cooking (maybe more gadgets than we have at home!), to all the toiletries you could need in the bathroom. And the kids had a wonderful time exploring the house and finding that there were books, toys, movies, musical instruments, and a whole craft room for them to enjoy! We spent a lot of our time on the rocky beach, where there were kayaks, some sand toys, beach chairs, life vests, fishing gear for us to use...the list goes on. We spent hours finding pretty rocks and tiny crabs, having fires on the beach (firewood was included!), and my son got to try fishing with the gear that was supplied. The area was so private and quiet, we hardly saw anyone at all and felt like we were worlds away from everything. It was very serene. JC was wonderfully communicative and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, and it's evident with all the attention to detail that this home is well cared-for, and with the intention of making sure the guests have all they need and have a good time. It felt like staying at a good friend's house, with everything taken care of, and even extra clothes and things in the drawers in case anyone needed them! There were so many little surprises, like blueberries to pick, and little toy dinosaurs hidden in the yard that the kids loved finding! It felt like an adventure. Staying here was an wonderful experience. We couldn't have been happier or more comfortable, and felt like we really got to "get away from it all" and unwind. The property and location are gorgeous and serene. We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to return! The house is huge and spacious, bright and open, and thoughtfully decorated and outfitted with everything anyone could need. I We came to celebrate my husband's 40th, and had our young children with us.

Family Vacation

The stay at the property in Sheldon was very enjoyable. The location allowed us to visit many beautiful locations within a 2 hour drive including Mt. Rainier, the Pacific Coast, Olympic National Park, and Port Angeles. The home was equipped with everything we needed for cooking and recreational activities. Oakland Bay was fun to kayak on as well as walk the shore to find shells and things. There were sea lions swimming around within sight from the shore and would swim by us while kayaking. We all had a great deal of fun during our stay and the J.C,. the property owner, was easy to work with.

This property is right on the beach in Oakland Bay (Shelton) with gorgeous views of the water and amazing beach access! The house has everything you need and more! There are many sleeping options which worked very well for our family. Would not stay anywhere else...

The property owner was there to greet me at check in. It was an easy walk around then total relaxation. The owner was very accommodating and took very good care of us during our stay. The house is located right on the water of Oakland Bay. The owner has put tons of hours into growing plants, fruits, and spices around the yard giving the outdoors a tranquil setting. Plenty of room and was exactly what the add said. This has changed our experience staying away from home and we will be coming back to stay again. Thanks for the great stay and accommodations.

About the host

Hosted by J.C. Nowacki

Host profile image
I bought this home because it was adjacent to my home. I have rented it all this time and my first renter was a gardener & landscaper and there for many, many years. The last couple of years the renters were not the best gardeners. The gardens are looking good and more coming in way of fresh vegetables and fruit when in season. I am also a license Real Estate managing broker with RE/MAX Top Executives in Shelton. And this is an equal housing home.

The original bulk head fell in about 7 years ago and it was rebuilt with natural rock. The landscaping here has taken me time to redo, trying to do a little every year and turn it all into vegetable gardens terracing down to the bulkhead.

I have a survival of the fittest gardens and working with straw bale gardening, hydroponics, fish hydroponics, and raise beds. There is even a working "worm farm", not for fishing but for the "black gold" for your vegies! Green houses at my home and hopefully will have one here next winter too.

Why they chose this property

There is all types of outdoor items to enjoy. I have extra rubber boots, life preservers, and coats of all sizes to use! I try to keep wood for beach fires on the bulkhead to use. There are extra grills too. 2 charcoal and one large propane. I try to keep items stocked so you don't have to worry.

What makes this property unique

I love Oakland Bay and the Shelton area. It is the central location to do all the things I love. Hiking, fishing, hunting, crabbing, boating, and day trips that can bring you to so many unique adventures.
