When it comes to all the things that make Melbourne Melbourne (coffee culture, old-school pubs, great food and cool shops), you can't beat Collingwood. Our two-bedroom apartment is three blocks from Smith St, the neighbourhood's main strip and home to some of the city's coolest eateries. Public transport to the CBD is also super convenient: a 15-minute tram ride. The place itself is great, with a bathroom for each bedroom, modern kitchen, a comfy lounge and even a balcony to have a drink on.

Not as expected

The property wasn’t clean and after asking for a touch up clean 3 times we never got a response. The washing machine was broken and could not be used during our stay. The communication with Madecomfy was frequent, however, we needed to follow up daily regarding the above issues. I will never stay in a Madecomfy property again.

It was handy to trams and a local supermarket, plus plenty of dining options. The day we arrived was a bit of a mess, as it was a public holiday the usual shop where the keys are wasn't open so a locked box was organized. Unfortunately we weren't given the code to open the box. so a couple of calls had to be made. Also when we eventually got in the blind in the main bedroom was broken which meant we couldn't open the blind. This was reported as soon as we moved in but after out 6 day stay this still wasn't fixed. Currently there is construction right outside the main bedroom so no sleeping in....

Great apartment in Collingwood

This is a great apartment in Collingwood. We enjoyed our stay and would choose to go there again. The area is bohemian, cool and close to the CBD. It is a terrific location. The apartment is compact but well appointed. We liked the way that it had windows both to the north (with a balcony) and to the south of the building. Some minor suggestions are that the key could be provided closer to the apartment itself in a secure location that guests could access conveniently and pass the key between themselves when they come and go. Alternatively, two keys could be provided. There is a great internet connection but the free-to-air DTV reception was occasionally patchy; perhaps the external antenna of the block of apartments could be improved. Also, some instruction manuals for the various electronic equipment could have been provided. The organisations managing the property are distributed and you end up receiving emails from a number of different people. It is pretty easy to keep track of them, but it is a different experience to having one central management authority as used to be the case with other properties that we have hired through Stayz in the past.
