We had a lovely time at Michel. The weather was not great, at best, but we could retreat to the living room with a view and watch the ocean and the cloud formations change.
Great to be able to walk to a Tesco and to The Bean Inn - very pleasant place to eat especially for my husband who is vegan.
The mattress in the main bedroom upstairs (also with a view) probably needs to be replaced.
We needed to turn the heating and hot water on two or three times a day because it only stayed on for max 3 hours at a time.
Kitchen and bathrooms were well set up.
Was great to be able to walk downhill into St Ives and to get the bus back.
Decent space for a family to holiday. We mainly self catered. A little restricted on cooking utensils but otherwise the kitchen was well equiped, clean and modern. Comfy sofas and beds and clean, modern bathrooms. Tesco just up the road - very convenient. Beach a 10 minute walk away - perfect. St Ives 35 minute walk. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
enjoyed .
This is the second time my family have stayed at Michel, and once again it lived up to all of our expectations. The property was clean and had everything we needed to have a fantastic break in Carbis Bay! The location of this property is perfect, within a quiet street away from the main drag into St Ives. The views are simply stunning and something we could never tire of. Harry’s communication was once again excellent, making the whole booking process easy for us. Thank you again, hope to see you next year!
We enjoyed the week very much. There was an excellent view from the living room to Carbis Bay; supermarket in walking distance; possibility to have a walk to St. Ives … and very helpful recommendations and hints from our host.
In a nutshell: we had a relaxed time!
Stayed at Michel for one week, came back yesterday. This place was wonderful as you walk into the living room, theirs such an amazing view of the garden and the beach. The main bedroom had the same view, so waking up in the mornings was a delight. The kitchen was fully equipped and modern, as so was the two bathrooms. The house was big and spacious, like a maze i would walk into the wrong room sometimes. Theirs a small room downstairs with a washing machine, also it was ideal to dry your hair so this was an added bonus. The walk down to the beach was 15 - 20 mins such a wonderful view as your walking down. We all visited the pub Cornish Arms a few times for food and drink. We also went to their quiz night which is hosted on Wednesdays at 8.30pm, thus was very enjoyed. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely.
A few times we walked into the town which took about 25 mins, plenty of food places, also an arcade if you have children. Thank-you Harry for letting us stay in you wonderful property, it was a pleasure.
A lovely view and comfortable lounge area. Modern kitchen. Quiet road but close to a Tesco Superstore (very handy). Close to tourist spots ( Lands End and the Lizard 30 minutes away). Lovely beach at Hayle, 10 minutes away. Try the Black Lobster shack by Asda in Hayle, fantastic Surf & Turf Burger! Becks Fish & Chips in Cardis Bay great too. Weather wasn't great so spent a lot of time indoors. A chilled holiday overall.
From the moment you walk into the property you are taken aback by the stunning views of Carbis bay and coast through the huge windows on this property, it really takes your breath away. The place was spotless and the whole booking process and communication with the host was fantastic! We shared the property with my parents, who after many decades of holidaying in Cornwall were astounded by the value for money and location of Michel. My two young children had an absolute ball and the location to the beach is perfect, just a short idilic walk down the hill. We will definitely try and rebook for another holiday! Thank you Harry and VRBO
Very enjoyable and relaxing week by the beautiful beach of Carbis Bay with very clean weather
We had a very pleasant and peaceful week in this house and what a beautiful prayer was installed on the reception wall. We really got positive energy, love and happiness from this house. We didn't want to leave there, but today we returned to London.
Carbis Bay has a very beautiful, relaxing and high classy beach, and there is a very high classy restaurant with a sea view , where we had my daughter's 15th birthday dinner, and the area is extremely clean and beautiful, access to bus and train lines and the bus and train stations and the Tesco store are great.
What beautiful shops St. Ives has and the walking along its coastal areas is wonderful.
We had an amazing month staying at Michel. The house was wonderful in every way! Amazing location in Carbis Bay with Breathtaking Sea Views. A lovely renovated house in the perfect location for walking to Carbis Bay Beach and into St Ives.
We would highly recommend!!! The host was also wonderful and took extra measures to make sure we had everything we needed. We miss it already!!!
Overall a Fabulous experience!!!
The property was well located - up from from Carbis Bay and walking distance to St Ives. We enjoyed our family get together at the house, but the general decor was a bit dated and the parking was poor. We knew about a broken window blind beforehand but it was really very poor and our daughter and boyfriend didn’t enjoy the room - it should have been replaced even if somebody had to come in when we arrived. Not great value for money.
I stayed here with my husband, mother and sister (poor hubby 😂). What a beautiful house we loved it the views were amazing and it was so peaceful, We all had a room each lovely and comfy beds and a bonus of a smaller room which we used for doing our hair. The kitchen is beautiful everything you could ever need, the bathrooms were lovely too and a amazing comfortable spacious living room. We had taxis to St. Ives which varied from £6-8 it was cheaper than getting the bus. Tesco is a easy walk away and you have a pub a bit further down. Would love to stay here again hopefully soon and thank you Harry.
Comfortable house with 3 good size bedrooms, new kitchen and bathrooms. Conveniently situated for Carbis Bay beach and for walking or getting the bus into St. Ives. Enjoyed walking the South West path from the house to Zennon (east) and to Lelant (west).
Very roomy property, with an extra small room that we hadn’t realised from the listing. Great location. Short walk to Carbis Bay Beach. Bit of a challenge walking back up but not an issue for us - we definitely feel fitter after our stay. We hired bikes so easy to get around. Great hill riding down to St Ives. Obviously what goes down must come up, but if we were feeling tired the train is an easier option. Great restaurants including The Cornish Arms for Sunday lunch and The Balti King in Hayle for take away curry. Tesco is close which was very handy. Loads to do for adults and teens including: surfing, paddle boarding, fishing, go karting, quad biking, roller disco .. the list goes on. Highly recommend!
Wonderful location for the fabulous beaches in Carbis Bay and St Ives via the beautiful coastal path. House was clean, spacious and well equipped. Great base for exploring West Cornwall including the Tate Gallery, Lands End, St Michael's Mount and only an hour to the Eden Project. Local Tesco was very close by and really handy. We visited some lovely local restaurants but these need to be booked well in advance in the summer. One warning for beach lovers the path is pretty steep but not a problem if you are prepared.
Michel is a lovely cottage with views to kill for onto Carbis Bay. It is the perfect location for the beach, for hiking along the South West Coast Path and within walking distance to St Ives (for reasonably fit adults).
The cottage is spacious and well-equipped; both bathrooms are modern and the master bedroom has an extremely comfortable huge bed, as well as the killer view.
The kitchen is fitted with mostly Bosch appliances and very functional with plenty of crockery and cutlery.
The living room and the downstairs bedroom are a little old fashioned but comfortable. The housekeeping standards could be a bit higher I expect (inside of cupboards a little dusty to a fastidious visitor) but it is understandable since Harry, the owner, hasn't been able to visit the property since before the pandemic. Harry is incredibly helpful and responsive though, when I asked about a coffee maker he ordered one immediately to arrive a couple of days into our stay.
We spent a lovely week in the cottage and I'd happily recomend Michel for rental.
The house was in a quite part of Carbis Bay walking distance to beaches. Great parking.
Beautiful views of the bay from the house.
Tesco is only a five minute walk from house.
Only negatives for me was the China could do updating and 2 of the bedrooms were looking a bit tired.
Would definitely stay at this property again we had a fabulous time.
Everything was wonderful at this seaside cottage. We would stay here again! It was spotless, close to pubs and to the Tesco grocery store. St. Ives is very close by. The views are amazing.
Great place to stay with all the facilities a family needs. Near the bus route for getting around.
Fantastic views.! Brilliant beaches nearby.
A great place to stay which is near a supermarket and pub.
The welcome shopping was a great idea especially the wine.
We would recommend this rental property .

Why they chose this property
My parents chose to retire back to the UK after living in the States for many years. After much searching, they chose Carbis Bay nearly 40 years ago . I visited this home numerous times after they retired here and each time fell in love with the views, the sea air, walks and people. St Ives & Carbis Bay have changed over the years but after I inherited this home I too was enchanted and have kept it as a retreat. My wife & I constantly talk about selling the property since we work and live in the States and it is quite a trek for us from the States, but each time after being back here for 10 minutes and seeing the views from Michel and smelling the air - such talk is banished. We've recently finished a complete renovation of the bathrooms and kitchen to bring Michel into the 21st century for both our Guests and ourselves. We hope you will feel the same as we do and thoroughly enjoy your time here.
