About this property

Sunsets on the Mobjack and East River! Bring your kayaks & bikes.

Quiet and secluded 3 bedroom/ 3 bath home located on the water in Port Haywood (five miles from downtown Mathews). Watch the beautiful sunsets from the backyard, screened porch, and large private dock. Fish, crab, or use the floating dock to launch kayaks or paddleboards. 2 night minimum stay required. All rentals require a rental agreement to be signed with a copy of the renters valid ID.

The home has 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and one twin with a trundle. There is also a pullout couch in the den that converts to a double bed. The home comfortably sleeps six (2 of whom should be children in the twin trundle bed). The pullout sofa bed can sleep 1-2 more persons but will require the use of the den/family room as a bedroom, which will limit access to the back patio.

Unfortunately, boats, trailers, and RVs are not allowed on property. Guests can trailer their boats to local public ramps or marinas to launch and recover. We recommend guests who wish to bring boats as part of their visit contact a local marina for transient slip rentals (try Davis Creek Marina, 10 minutes from property; or Morningstar marina which is 15 minutes away). Note that at low tide, the water level in the cove prohibits even shallow draft boats from operating. Boats may run aground.

Home includes AC/Heat and whole house generator, newly renovated kitchen, gas range, washer/dryer, refrigerator, microwave, and cable/Wifi. A second stove is in the garage for steaming crabs caught off the dock!

Voted one of the top 50 small towns in America, Mathews County boasts not a single traffic light, but has an updated downtown area with shopping, dining, and art. Mathews and its environs have numerous recreational points of interest, including New Point Comfort Lighthouse, the historic Courthouse district, annual Market Days, weekly Farmers' Market, as well as numerous antique shops and unique restaurants. A 5 minute drive (or you can bike) takes you to Bethel Beach Nature Preserve and its unspoiled shoreline (perfect for walks in the morning or evening) located directly on the Chesapeake Bay.

Bring your bike! Mathews is known for its scenic byways and miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline.

Sunsets exactly as advertised!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun weekend. The house is clean and comfortable with amazing views of the river. We really appreciated that we weren't right on top of the neighbors. It made it feel very private. We spent our evenings out on the dock watching the phenomenal sunsets, laughing about the little crabs running around and watching the birds fly by. The owner was very friendly and responsive. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Perfect River Spot

This was the second time we've stayed at this house, and once again, it was great. I even said to my wife that this would be the kind of house I'd buy if we got a river house. I can tell the owners have taken great care to make sure the space is clean and everything a guest needs is there.

Out of a dozen VRBO properties we have stayed at this property was equipped extremely well in the Kitchen & Bathrooms. Great views of the water. You could tell the owners really took care of the property and upgraded it.

Beautiful House, Better Host

The house was beautiful, with many activities to do around the house. The private pier was very nice, and the entire facility was splendid. Lee was a great host, and it was easy to communicate. We look forward to coming back sometime next year!

Best Relaxation ….

We’re a family of 5 adults and a toddler. Perfect place to disconnect from business of life. Home was clean, homey and well cared for in every area. Dock was great spot to watch beautiful sunsets, dolphins and fly a kite. Host was responsive and welcoming. Definitely a win.

Stunning, clean and comfortable property

My husband, myself and our 14 mo daughter recently spent three days at this house and had a fantastic time. As others have said, the place exceeded expectations. It was perfectly clean and well-appointed and served as a perfect base for us to explore the bay beaches nearby. We especially enjoyed time on the dock and screened porch, and had everything we needed. We would absolutely rent again if we are headed to the area!

Secluded bayside retreat

Lee Folsom's place on Mobjack bay was the perfect getaway location for enjoying the water, relaxing amid the pines, and soaking up the beauty of the surroundings. The house was very comfortable, spacious, and well-apportioned. The screened in porch was perfect for enjoying the summer evenings bug-free, while the bedrooms were comfortable and clean, as were the three bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we could have needed to cook, too. The property has a large lawn with nice grass in the rear facing the bay, while the dock was sturdy and perfect for sunbathing or reading waterside. Highly recommended---bring a kayak/canoe/etc. if you have one!

Best Birthday Getaway

A beautiful house on the East River in Port Haywood with the best sunsets you will ever have. Close proximity to the town of Mathews if you chose to eat out, but with a well stocked kitchen, peaceful surroundings, and the best views you may not want to leave. Great dock for launching your kayaks and again watching those magnificent sunsets. Highly, highly recommend. We will be back.

Spectacular View!

Spectacular view of the sunset!! Very quiet and relaxing stay. The house had all of the amenities you need and a wonderful screened in porch with a perfect view of the water! There was a great dock for fishing and crabbing too. Next time, I would be sure to bring my kayaks!

Pleasant stay!

Quiet home located on the water with beautiful views. Spectacular sunsets from the house and on the dock. The house has lots of windows, allowing for sun-filled rooms. Spacious common areas with 2 large living rooms and one dining room. Fully stocked kitchen with all the cookware, utensils, and appliances you need for any meal. The screened in porch was great for relaxing anytime of day as well as the Adirondack chairs on the dock. 3 full baths a definite plus. Outside is well lit, making you feel safe and comfortable. Host left area brochures and a bottle of Kendal Jackson chardonnay for our arrival- nice touch.

Quiet and restful getaway, surrounded by nature

A lovely and well appointed home on a beautiful waterfront property. We loved the screened in porch and the hours we spent kayaking right outside our door. The Pileated woodpecker and white egret and great grey heron were a sight to see!

Exceeded all my expectations!

Everything during my stay in this house exceeded my expectation. The whole environment was way better than what we thought based on the pictures provided. I felt lucky that the owner don't mind go through all these troubles of rent it out so that family like mine can spend a whole week there. I was particularly surprised by the fresh cut flowers that were there for us. And of course, the memory of the sunset will last a life time! Things that I wish this house has - canoe or kayak. Would have been brilliant if we were able to paddle out to the water rather than just staying on the dock. Also, as an environmentalist, may be this house can use more LED lights?

Beautiful inside and out

We loved our weekend getaway. The house was beautiful, well furnished and very comfortable. We especially loved the screened porch and the fire pit. We regret not bringing a kayak, because the dock was perfect and the views spectacular. Very private but also close to a great little town with great restaurants. I would definitely book this rental again.

Stay for the Tour de Chesapeake (bike ride)

Beautiful, clean, pleasant home. Well stocked with everything needed for a weekend stay. The owner had a problem hot water heater fixed for us promptly. It was a Saturday night we lost hot water and he had a plumber fix it.

Delightful spring get-away

We loved our five days at 350 Windward and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful break. The house has some classic 80s features, but the kitchen is much newer and quite nice. The dock is fabulous — you couldn’t ask for a better place to enjoy sunsets. It’s easy to get to and a nice jumping off point to explore Mathews County. Highly recommend!

Winter Visit

This is a great house - large windows with water views from just about every room, comfortable furniture and a well-appointed kitchen make this a very comfortable house for a get-away. We spent hours on the dock and watching the sunsets, which always seem to be amazing. Despite the cold we enjoyed the stay very much. It's hard to beat sitting by the fire watching an incredible sunset over the water.

What makes this property unique

This home offers fantastic views of the Mobjack Bay at the mouth of the East River. In the evenings the patio, dock, and backyard are witness to some of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. There are hawks, bald eagles, and ospreys that all nest nearby. Our guests and friends from all over the country have commented on our home's wonderful setting and how quiet and peaceful it is. In season, there are blue crabs galore, and fish in abundance. This is a wonderful place to simply relax.
