Best Central Location/Private Urban Oasis/ Travis Heights Near SoCo & Downtown
Travis Heights is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Austin and is tucked under expansive Live Oak trees that are hundreds of years old! Tiny House may be tucked away in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, but it's an easy walk to the best of South Congress (SoCo), the Congress St. bats, and is also close to downtown and East-side restaurants, bars and clubs. The Whip-in, a close walk, is an eclectic restaurant, bar and live music venue whose origins were a simple corner store. Want some quiet time? Take a walk through the neighborhood to Big Stacy Park, or swim in Big Stacy Pool- open all year round! Travis Heights has the best of everything!

Clean, comfortable spot to stay in Austin. Easy check-in, easy access to local spots. We appreciated the kitchen stocked with coffee and water. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Like staying in a friend's guest house. Can't wait to come back!
Amy was terrific. She was a great communicator and when I asked about a bike, she cleaned up her old mountain bike for me to borrow. From the moment I arrived at the property, thoughtful touches made it feel like I was staying at a friend's place: a fresh pint of half and half for coffee, granola bars and microwave popcorn for those snack-attacks, extra Q-tips in the bathroom, an extra fan and blankets, plenty of condiments including butter, hot sauce in the fridge... The layout was great, the downstairs had the kitchen with bar counter, couch and desk areas. The "Tiny House" had a front porch and just outside the window a fire pit with a ring of chairs. I can't wait to come back with friends and take advantage of a summer night.
Amy’s place was awesome. Tiny but mighty! Super clean and stocked with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay. She’s a great communicator, offers amazing tips, and responds quickly. It’s a 20 minute walk to soco and a quick Uber to 6th/downtown so easy access to all the fun!
My 11 year old son and I were visiting for the F1 race and wanted a small, quiet, and centrally located place to stay. Amy's tiny house fit the bill perfectly. It's in a great neighborhood walkable to all the shops and restaurants on South Congress and close to downtown and campus. Amy was a great communicator and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We realized we'd have a much better race day experience if we had collapsible chairs and Amy dug a few out of storage for us to borrow. Highly recommend.
This was in a great neighborhood. The host had all the toiletries and snacks! We were visiting our adult kids and this place provided a gathering place during the day. Thanks so much.
Excellent location and well-appointed tiny home. We had everything we needed, street parking was readily available, and the house was convenient to everywhere we visited while in town. Amy was a great host. We recommend this home!
Really cute house. Set up is very minimal.
The host was amazing sent really in-depth emails about what to see and do in the local area. Also very clear instructions on how to access the property. Very responsive to issues that we had whilst staying there.
Unfortunately didn't get to meet the host, but met her two cats who were adorable.
We stayed primarily for the ACL festival. The festival grounds were within walking distance (if you like walking). Close to congress street and Zilker Park, lots of opportunities to paddleboard and kayak on the river.
My sis and I met in Austin for the weekend after her conference there. This was the perfect spot for us to catch up and hit the town. Very cute tiny house with just what we needed. Thank you!
This mini house was the perfect size, space, and location for our extended weekend in Austin. It was quiet, safe, and had all the amenities needed. It felt super cozy and we looked forward to heading back there after being out and about. I’d def recommend and stay again!
Great location in a quietly nice neighborhood. Cute tiny house loft had everything I needed. Everything was easily accessible. Not far from downtown, the springs and the main freeway. Host was quick to respond. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Austin.
The tiny house was great! There was a lot more room than we had initially anticipated, and Amy was a great host by providing list of activities to do in Austin during our stay. The house is well kept, in a quiet area, but close enough to a lot of great locations.
The Tiny House had everything we need, nothing we didn’t, and we really enjoyed our stay. The description of the property, amenities, and the pictures in the listing are thorough and accurate.
The Tiny House was a great jumping off point for spending time in the South of Congress and East Austin. We really enjoyed exploring these areas so the proximity was great. The availability of Lyfts also helped – while a number of destinations are within walking distance, sidewalks were rare.
Communication with Amy was easy and seamless. Amy’s messages were always friendly, helpful, clear, and prompt, and she made check-in a breeze. The info she provided about nearby neighborhoods prior to our visit went above & beyond!
The weather was quite hot during our stay. The wall unit a/c is pretty loud & located next to the bed - i would consider earplugs next time.
Looking forward to our next visit to Austin!
While we stayed there for the location in Travis Heights, we loved the tiny house and the outdoor space with the gorgeous live oak canopy. The inside has everything you need-even some classic board games. :)
I stayed with a friend. Amy greeted us warmly and provided a breakdown of the house and neighborhood.
The little house with loft bedroom was clean and equipped with linens, coffee, and everything necessary in the kitchen. The couch is plenty comfortable for sleeping.
The yard sits under a beautiful elm tree with a comfortable place to relax and hang out.
We used the 2 bicycles to explore the city.
Amy was kind and responsive.
We’re very grateful for the time we spent in Austin at Amy’s place!
It was fine. The backyard space was a little dumpy and I wouldn’t have hung outside. No curtains on the windows, so a little more privacy would have been nice. The sofa bed is broken, so thank goodness my daughter could just sleep on the coach. This was only my second time using VRBO, so I don’t have much to compare it to. I was a little disappointed, but I could stay there again if it’s just me and my wife. Not safe for little kids as they could fall off the loft.
Amy went above and beyond - broken coffee maker? I had a new one in 30min. The tiny house sits below a giant live oak in the back yard of a house on top of a hill in a great Austin neighborhood that has all of the cool “Austin-vibe” landscaping and neat stuff. It was super quiet and peaceful, so much that I was able to sleep days and work nights while I was in town on business. I was looking to get away from the business of the hotel chains, and this spot was perfect with it’s quick access to the hike and bike trails around the lake. I will look to stay here when I am in town in the future.
Enjoyed staying in a gorgeous neighborhood in this funky lofted space.

About the host
Hosted by Amy Sherman
I moved to Austin from San Francisco, sight unseen, 25 years ago and we've grown up together. I rented, then bought, my current home and have been here ever since. My house has been the hub of many gatherings and I'm a natural host- just ask my friends!
I'm active and am always up for adventure around town, out of town and around the world. I enjoy traveling, have lived abroad and logged many global miles, but it’s always nice to come home to enjoy all that Austin has to offer: music, dancing, natural springs, or enjoying the hike and bike trail along Lady Bird Lake.
I've been in the hospitality business for several years as a travel agent, bartender, catering and event coordinator, and would love to show you why Austin is the place to be!
