Our reservation was during the Blizzard of 2021, and I-80 was closed for 2 days of it. Crystal at Donner Lake Realty went over and above to keep us informed of when we could come, the situation at the cabin, and even getting us refunded for our missed days without us having to ask. When we finally arrived, the drive was plowed, the cabin was toasty, and boy were we glad to be there. Super cute neighborhood by the lake, pretty good pub food down the street, and roads were plowed each morning in time for us to head up to the mountain for skiing. Ended up being a great new years getaway for the family, hope to come back in the summer.
A great little cabin in the woods - funky but fun!
It should be said that this is not some luxury "cabin/mansion" like many of the Tahoe area rentals. It is a small, quaint a-frame in a wooded neighborhood. That being said, it was better than what I expected from the listing and for the price! It's small and cozy and a little dark, but with a nice dining room table and a living room with a fireplace, both of which provided ample hangout space. The place was really clean - none of the cobwebs or dust I might have expected. The kitchen is very well stocked with what you need. It's close to the lake, the pass and lots of skiing. And I really appreciated how responsive and personable the property managers were - my experience in the past with some of the companies that manage multiple rental properties is that you might as well be speaking to a customer service agent at a foreign call center when you try to get hold of them. I would stay here again.
