Lovely Place...
Lovely place, beautifully appointed and well-stocked. Quality throughout. Busy road separates house from waterfront, so the road noise was occasionally loud.

Great for a family weekend!
We had a great time in Upper Black Eddy - Ken was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating throughout our stay for Mother’s Day Weekend. He provided a thorough check-in process, built us a fire in the living room, gave us a late check-out, and provided breakfast vouchers for the general store around the corner. The property itself is beautiful and nearby some great restaurants and wineries. We loved our stay there and will definitely be back!

A Gem in Upper Black Eddy
This is a stunning 1730 stone property on the Delaware River that is cozy, romantic, comfortable, luxurious and meticulously cared for. Since you are the only guest, you feel like you are at your own summer home:). The hosts Ken and Heather were beyond hospitable, and we will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Relaxing girls weekend
Riverstone 1730 was a great setting for a relaxed girls weekend. Ken and Heather provided a tour upon welcoming us. The house itself was beautiful with great attention to detail. We started each day with breakfast and coffee at the Homestead and were able to take full advantage of the recreation offered riding bikes on the towpath and canoeing on the river. In the evenings we enjoyed sunset view with a fire by the river. A wonderfully relaxing place to reconnect!

Peaceful Retreat
Our plan was to get away from the hustle and noise of city living. We fell in love with the property after we saw the photos and video on YouTube. The hosts are kind and thoughtful as they thought of every detail possible to make our stay feel like home. The house is amazing and full of rich history. The quite patio and garden is great for morning coffee! Our favorite was the nightly fires and smores on the Delaware River and to top it off a private dock for cocktails. 5 star all the way.

Sixteen outstanding days on the Delaware
Our two weeks plus could not have been better. Ken and Heather were friendly on site hosts and always available. The location on the Delaware is ideal for day trips or walks on nearby walking trails. The river is a step away for kayaking or just sitting on the dock for cocktails or reading. Apartment was very clean and completely, I mean really completely, furnished.

A beautiful piece of history that you can sleep in!
This home is amazing! Ken & Heather go all out to be the best hosts you could imagine. They worked with us to accommodate an arrival that worked for us and made our entire stay warm and welcoming. Sitting at the riverfront firepit is the perfect end to whatever you choose to do on your relaxing stay in UBE. We will be back and plan to enjoy the complimentary Kayaks and Bikes to take in all the natural beauty!

November Weekend
A wonderful old house in a great location. The owner Ken was a great host and made everything very convenient. We rode the bikes on the canal towpath through fallen autumn leaves for a beautiful morning journey. We could not use the kayaks because the Delaware River was so high and fast; but that's the way it goes with rivers. Would definitely return here.

Beautiful home, relaxing and great location
The home was just as described, a beautifully restored and well-maintained charming home on the Delaware River. We stayed for a girls weekend and had a great time. We went canoeing / kayaking, bike riding, and enjoyed walking to the local spots. The location is perfect for those who just want to relax or who want to get out and enjoy the local area. Ken was a wonderful host and made us feel perfectly at home. He helped us with the canoe and bikes and was very friendly. We enjoyed the firepit right next to the river and could sit back and view the stars while relaxing with some wine and chocolates (provided by our host). We will definitely be back again for another getaway weekend.

Girls weekend getaway!
This property is absolutely beautiful . The pictures online are accurate...and it exceeds expectations in person. Ken and Heather are lovely hosts. They gave us recommendations for restaurants and towns to visit during our stay. There were also lovely touches in the house...a bottle of prosecco, lovely chocolates, phone chargers in each room, vouchers for breakfast or lunch at the local General store which is wonderful. There were bikes and kayaks that we did not use this trip...too much catching up to do! We absolutely loved this property, the hosts and HIGHLY recommend it to others! Thank you Ken and Heather!

About the host

Hosted by Ken Law

Host profile image
Heather and Ken opened Riverstone 1730 in 2017. They love American history and are old house addicts who enjoy sharing their B&B and it's history. Ken, Heather and Janet Deluca our Manager of Customer Service share hosting responsibilities.

Why they chose this property

Riverstone caught our eye the day we saw that it for sale in 2016. The breathtaking location on the Delaware and the history of the property dating back to the 1700's was captivating. Ken has always dreamed of owning a Pennsylvania stone farmhouse since he first saw paintings by Peter Scalthorpe many years ago. The massive stone walls and the original architectural elements that have remained in Riverstone brings you back to the founding days of our country when you step inside the door.

What makes this property unique

Living at Riverstone is wonderful. It is a gift to be able to be the caretaker of a landmark historical property. When you live in a home that is nearly 300 years old, it provides a unique perspective on ones short time on this earth. During its" lifetime" Riverstone was a ferry captains home, a trading post on the American frontier, a tavern an antique store, a private residence and now resurrected as a B&B once again opening its doors to traveller to the area.
In todays fast moving world one can glean a bit of perspective while sitting by the fire and contemplating that the residents of Riverstone over the centuries discussed revolting from England and forming the United States, slavery, secession, two World Wars, civil rights, and all of the landmark events of the centuries.
From that armchair vantage point one can see the continuity of our country in both the good and challenging times.
