Four Chooks Cottage is located just 10.5 kms from Warwick on a peaceful rural property. The cottage is comfortably completely self contained, and sleeps 4-5 people in 3 bedrooms comprising a queen bed, two singles and a king single . It's a wonderful, centrally located base for exploring this charming, scenic Southern Downs Region of South East Queensland. Perfect for those who like to stroll, or stride, around the many National Parks spread across the area, or for those attending one of the many events held locally including those at Morgan Park Warwick, which is renowned for car racing and equine events. Warwick's yarnbombing and jazz festival Jumpers and Jazz in July is extremely popular. There is also a plethora of other activities which involve the arts, theatre, music and markets. Four Chooks Cottage is the perfect venue for relaxing after a varied day of exploration. Children are most welcome!
The cottage has a wood burner for those chilly nights and air conditioner if needed. The pantry and refrigerator are stocked to assist an easy settle in on arrival. The girls will provide fresh free range eggs and you are welcome to feed them any tasty food scraps they might children love to collect the eggs! There is a laundry with washing machine and dryer, one bathroom with toilet and a separate toilet. two televisions and dvd. The cottage has two very pleasant verandah areas, perfect for a relaxing chat, dipping into the must finish book, having a coffee, juice or perhaps some delightful local wine and cheese. There is unlimited parking for large and small vehicles
Surrounding the cottage are some of the remnants of the original winery (c1865) said to be the first in Queensland. The sandstone winery building with underground cellar and windlass is heritage listed and still exists. There are other interesting old machinery sheds, cattle yards, windmill etc which are popular with photographers.
Those intrigued by birds and their local habitats in this area will find the property of interest also. Feeders and seed are regularly provided and found to be most welcome by feathered visitors particularly during hard or droughted times. After recent wonderful rains the visiting bird life is amazing,
The local Darling Downs Hotel ( popularly known as the Sandy Creek pub) is very convenient for an evening meal on weekends and for live music on occasions. It is just one kilometre away , provides a courtesy bus and offers good Australian food . Warwick also has many other food options such as Thai, Japanese, Chinese, French, British and there are many delightful lunch options of varied cuisines throughout the region. As well, there is always the Four Chooks Cottage kitchen and a choice of two BBQ's!
Warwick, known as the Rose City because of its beautiful parks and gardens which feature many plants of that species has wonderful walks along the famous Condamine River. It also if needed is well supplied with doctors, dentists, optometrists and other specialist medical services plus a large public hospital.
There are five large supermarkets, many banks, specialty stores, a wide range of education facilities, small airport etc. The active are well catered for with everything from golf, tennis, cricket, gliding, croquet, swimming at the large aquatic centre, horse riding, polo and polocrosse and many many more.
