Unplug and relax

The property is in a cocoon of trees with only the sounds of nature around you. Very relaxing, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, pretty decent wifi. Comfortable spaces to sit and chat, enjoy your coffee, read, or just stare at nature, both inside the house and outside. The area around offers lots of outside activities to stay active.

Annual grand kids weekend

We were very happy with the cabin and location. There is a beautiful pond in walking distance where we took the kids fishing. The surrounding area is quiet and full of nature. We were close enough to so many great activities so we went to Gatlinburg TN for a day.

Nice Chalet in the mountains

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It is a cosy place in the mountains. Our family of 5 had plenty of room and enjoyed our stay here. The boys enjoyed fishing in the pond and playing in the valley yard just down the street from the house. This was a very low key vacation for us and stayed close by most of the time. We did venture to Bryson City (25 min away) and did the train ride which was fun and went to Cherokee (40 min away) once and saw elk. It was the perfect vacation for us.

Hummingbird stay

The cabin was not clean. Needs a good deep cleaning of baseboards, lamps, windows and sills, under the sofa. We needed a blanket as the bed comforter was very heavy, but there was not one. There was no dish soap. The cabin is very dark with heavy brown blinds all pulled shut. Landscaping a mess.

Stecoah Almond area

This is a great rental home in the Stecoah Almond area. We enjoyed the outside deck and the home. It was perfectly set up for 2 familes ... 4 adults. There is a bedroom and bath upstairs that allows privacy for everyone. It is pet friendly and is well stocked with supplies. No issues with property management and everything that we wanted to use was in working order. It was exactly what we had expected and very relaxing place to stay.

Perfect Stay

This place was the perfect spot for our family of 5 plus my in-laws. They even approved so that’s a big deal. It’s not far from Gatlinburg but because of the winding roads and park, it does take longer to get there. We were so excited to arrive that we totally forgot to go food shopping. However, Bryson City wasn’t far away at all and there is a very large grocery store there so it worked out perfect. Will definitely recommend and look forward to going back.

Wonderful, clean cabin in a great neighborhood

We had such a great vacation at Hummingbird Hideaway. The cabin was incredibly clean, linens were soft and homey (and also very clean), and the layout was fantastic for our family of five. We really enjoyed walking around the common lawn with the creek running through, and the kids loved their swim in the pond. Great communication with the owner, friendly neighbors, and just an awesome all-around trip. The upper driveway was doable for flatlander drivers in a minivan - just a bit intimidating at first. The lower driveway worked out great also and is a very useful alternative for additional vehicles, or if you just aren't up for the hill. We would recommend this place 100% and hope to return soon!

NICE HOUSE BUT COLD

The house and location is nice. There is an inverter heater in the living room. The only source of heat in two of the three bedrooms is one space heater to share. There is an electric "fireplace" in the third bedroom. No heat in either bathroom unless you take the space heater in there with you. If you are sensitive to the cold or have elderly parents as I do, then this is not the place for you unless it's during the summer months.

Needs Heat

This house was extremely cold. The cold air comes through every window even the window in the bathroom when you're trying to take a shower. There were bugs but not surprised there the house is setting on a hill back up to the woods. The driveway is horrible! . The beds are terrible don't expect to get a good night sleep at all and the beds are full not queens. You have to call the owners mother to get a code to get in which she was super nice. Good luck.

Cute cabin

The cabin was very clean and spacious for my family of 5. Everyone had a bed to sleep in. The decor & design was really cute w/ some modern, recent upgrades. The location was further from Bryson City than I realized. I should’ve checked the mileage before booking so that’s on me. It took us about 20 mins to get to and from the town. If you’re looking for a private, secluded cabin in the woods, this is the place for you. Make sure you have all of your groceries & supplies before arriving since a store or gas station is not near by. If you’re going in the summer, just know there’s no central air and 2 of the window units weren’t working well during our stay. The master upstairs was so warm and stuffy. We couldn’t even use a blanket to sleep. The air in the living room works great though!! There’s no view either. A couple of the photos show a view of the mountain area but I think this is the case in the winter when the trees/leaves are bare. The trees are taller than the cabin and really close so the only thing we could see when stepping outside was the tops of the trees. The pavilion & pond are about a 5-8 mins walk across the road from the cabin. The description state “on property” which means that section is used by the cabins in the area.

As advertised - Very nice cabin

Cabin was very clean and ready for us. Although this rental was a tad on the higher spectrum of cleaning fees from other rental options, I can say the money is well spent. Least my wife was impressed, so you know that speaks volumes - good job owners! It is also noteworthy that the cabin has undergone recent renovations, so this means you'll benefit from new faucets, fixtures, etc... Liked the laminate flooring all throughout and interior decor/theme. Everything works - all appliances, water supply, stove, refrigerator, high-tech washer/dry - it all works, thus offering that worry-free vacation we all desire. Internet : it was a deciding factor for us, being on AT&T, we knew cell service was out for us up front, thus it was great to have Internet to FaceTime, and Skype, and iMessage. The Sat-TV was a plus as well. Some other notable things …. I liked the LED flashlights placed throughout the cabin - that's a thoughtful touch. There is a covered lower outdoor deck in case the weather is wet, and and upper outdoor deck for those beautiful days. Area is very quite and a good view. Small fire pit below. The packed gavel driveway grade is average for these parts, and it's just off a fully paved road and not bad to drive up/down - no 4x4 needed, a basic car can make it just fine. Yet because there is one hard-right mid-way up, those whom are trailering may not be ideal. Over all very pleased with our stay, and would surely rent this cabin again in the future.

My husband and I are teachers who have been blessed to discover this wonderful valley!

Why they chose this property

I have been coming up here to vacation with my parents since I was a child. Now that my husband has also fallen in love with the area, we decided it was the only choice for our family vacation home! We love traveling and feel that of all the places we have been this is our very favorite place to be when we have time off. The house and the surrounding area provide everything a family might expect when they imagine vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains.

What makes this property unique

Amazing location uniquely close to everything yet with rural seclusion.
