We were here for a wedding in Mudgee and it was wonderful to return to this little piece of paradise after the event.Well appointed, beautifully linens, well stocked kitchen and a lovely ambiance. Complete with belted Galaways in the Paddock outside. Would love to come back and spend a week working my way through the fabulous collection of books on the bookshelves. Hosts have thought of everything.
The property was booked for an annual weekend catch up with long term friends dating from our childhood in a small country town. We are now all in our sixties and spread all over NSW and have been booking properties for these catch ups for over 17 years Abercorn is right up there with any we have visited over this time Sara and her husband were accommodating and receptive hosts who were prepared to go that extra mile to ensure our stay was a happy experience. The property was well presented, spotless and exactly as advertised.Would like to see some more outdoor furniture on the patio but this would only be an issue to those that prefer to sit and relax outside, the house itself offer plenty of interaction and relaxing facilities. There is little point complaining about the price, it is expensive, but so is everything else of similar quality since the Covid bubble burst, the demand and market dictate that, and we could not blame the ownersGreat stay Thank you, Sara,
We had the most incredible stay at this stunning house in Mudgee for our wedding weekend. Nestled on a picturesque farm, the property offered everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The house was spacious yet cosy, immaculately clean, and had the ideal layout for our group. One of the highlights was having the bridal party get ready there—the beautiful surroundings made for a breathtaking backdrop for the bride 😊.
Sara was an amazing host—super responsive and attentive to all of our questions, making the experience seamless. We had such an amazing time and can't wait to rebook for a family trip in the future!! Thank you Sara! X
4 couples stayed in this wonderful house. We mostly self catered and all dining needs were met. BBQ oven great for the Christmas in June Turkey!! Indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit made our gathering all the more special.
A trip to Mudgee as our first family holiday with our 6 month old was made all the more special with gorgeous accommodation and an even more accommodating host in Sara.
Everything about our stay was perfect from the beautiful home that is Abercorn, to the hospitality of Sara and Matthew.
The images don’t do this place justice, from the moment you arrive you feel like you are home, with every detail thought of across the property.
We didn’t have the best weather for our stay but that didn’t even matter. Abercorn was the perfect place to snuggle up near the fire, play indoors with our baby, and enjoy a wine or two over a board game.
Highly recommend if you’re after a luxurious ‘home away from home’ type of stay with the most hospitable hosts you could hope for!
We were three couples staying together at Abercorn for the weekend and we were delighted with absolutely everything. The building itself is spacious, elegant and well appointed and styled. The kitchen is stocked with everything item you need to cook up a storm and the pod coffee machine is a blessing. There is a bookshelf filled with great books and games ( we even managed to complete a jigsaw puzzle together over the course of our stay). At night we had the choice of the outside fire pit or the indoor fireplace, both were put to good use and kept us cosy. I think we all agreed that one of the most breathtaking features of Abercorn are the amazing full size windows that seem to wrap around the house, giving a feeling of almost 360 degree views to the gardens, courtyards and paddocks. During our stay we also had access to the well stocked vegetable garden, which was a real treat. The whole place, from the spacious bedrooms with super comfortable beds, and elegant bathrooms stocked with lovely products (and a great hair dryer) is perfect for a group of friends or a family. The communication with our host, Sara, was exceptional and informative from the very first point of contact and we are grateful for that. We cannot recommend this place and our host highly enough. Thank you Abercorn and Sara, we will be back.
The house is quaint and in a beautiful setting. Close enough to town for easy access but far enough to feel like you’re in the countryside. It’s very well equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful and very comfortable.
Sara, our host was lovely, friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a bottle of wine on our arrival and she came to say hi and check on us. She also offered to have the kids feed their cows. We forgot some of our belongings which she kindly posted back to us.
Loved our stay and would highly recommend!

Stunning property so close to town. Well equipped, clean and fabulous communication. This home has a lovely feel and is so easy to enjoy with friends. I would strongly recommend and hopefully one day soon we can return. 😊
The home was situated in a very ideal location being very close to town for supplies and being far enough to get the true country experience.
The home was well designed with more than enough bathrooms and a very large living area for the children to play.
The home was very neat and clean apon arrival and had a wonderful fire pit outside.
The property had pet cows for the kids to pat and feed which was a definite highlight for the kids as we are from Sydney suburbia.
The property manager was nearby and was able assist with every query I had.
The property had plenty of extra towels and amenities which really helped.
Overall experience of this property and location is 5/5. I would definitely recommend this wonderful home to friends and family when staying in Mudgee.
Beautiful property and convenient base for exploring Mudgee and the vineyards. Loads of space for large group or family. Kids loved the fire pit. Thanks Sara.

Great place for family or group of friends.
If you forgot essentials don’t worry it probably in the property. Stayed 6 adults two children could not fault it. One thing pointed out by our sons and their spouses was that only one king bedroom. I think these days all should be rather than queen beds.
I booked this property as our daughter was getting married and we needed a house with plenty of room so everyone could have space when required. The house met all our expectations and more.
Sara was a delight to deal with and always responded promptly to my questions. The kitchen was well stocked and it was refreshing not to have to go out and buy extra tea bags and coffee. The garden is lovely and we all enjoyed walking around taking in the lovely scenery.
Thank you Sara for making our stay memorable.
Regards Alison
This is a beautiful, spacious property. A perfect place for a big family or multiple families. Very well equipped, very clean and the hosts were very responsive. Loved the outdoor fire, table tennis table and the large indoor spaces. We had a wonderful 4 night stay. Thank you.
This is the second time we have stayed as a larger family and friends group and it didn’t disappoint. The house is just lovely with modern, clean bathrooms and facilities. The property is perfect for kids to run around and then all relax by the fire pit and toast marshmallows. Another wonderful stay and we will definitely be back!
Loved our stay. Everything was well maintained and very clean. We would have liked an outdoor table
Overall Mudgee is just beautiful and so friendly. Abercorn is a great place to stay for large groups.
I think it is one of the only venues that has indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
Abercorn has everything you could want, beautiful location, luxury house with all the amenities you could need. Sara was so helpful on suggestions to do in the area. We will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Sara
I'm a retired rare books librarian and bookseller, and I love reading, cooking, buying old furniture at auctions, speaking French, and travel. My husband is a retired builder, and after having built this house he is now turning his attention to traditional country sheds.
Why they chose this property
Mudgee is one of NSW's prettiest towns and has a vibrant food and wine scene. Being a short drive from major cities it's a perfect weekend escape.
What makes this property unique
Abercorn is set amongst some of Mudgee's best vineyards, only 7 km from town. It is private, with its own beautiful garden and vegetable garden, and has spectacular views of our farm and surrounding countryside. You can enjoy sunsets from the seat in our amazing stone wall, watch our small herd of Belted Galloway cows graze peacefully nearby, and enjoy the birdsong in the mornings. The elegant, spacious, light-filled house was designed specially for guests, built by my husband and features beautiful natural materials inside.
