What a special place! The house is beautifully situated for sunrises and sunsets and the fireplace was spectacular! The kitchen is truly fully equipped and Brenda was quick to respond to any questions that we had. This was a wonderful place to unplug and unwind. We had a great time and plan to visit again
My husband and I spent a lovely winter weekend at the Half Moon House. Our goal was to find a scenic, private place to stay far away from the city (and our kid, who spent the weekend with grandma). We found just what we were seeking! We ate breakfast in a sun soaked living room, went on a hike at nearby Wright Mountain, cuddled up near the giant fireplace in the evening, and saw so many stars (and three planets) when we went star gazing out in the field. The long dirt driveway was very well maintained and our little Nissan Versa did just fine getting up the hill (though it would have been in a challenge in an actual snow storm or mud season).
This property never disappoints. Went up last minute due to my oldest dog being diagnosed with cancer. Brenda was very accommodating to my situation and helped me make it happen so my guy could atleast see his favorite place to run one last time. Highly recommend to anyone especially if you have a good boy who like to run like mine
This was our second stay at Half Moon House. We love the peace and isolation. The house is fully equipped. We only left to go to area hiking places, but the house site has a vast area to explore, as well. We'll be back!!
The location is serene and idyllic, very quiet, nice and dark at night. A truly quaint little place, especially with the added touch of Christmas lights throughout the house, and a beautiful new flower bed. It is a small space, but we knew that going in and it doesn't bother us. Sadly, the week that we stayed happened to be right after the house had been closed up for a few weeks except for workers installing the A/C, the regular housekeeper was not available, and the owner was out of town so not able to inspect the property herself. Based on the many other glowing reviews, I would tend to give the owner the benefit of the doubt. We made do, but the level of cleanliness in the home significantly detracted from the quality of our stay (stinky dead mouse in trap upon arrival, dust, bugs/cobwebs, musty smells, mold in washing machine). Hopefully things will be back on track for the next folks, as everything else really was lovely.
Half Moon is a hidden gem with great views, an awesome fireplace, and seclusion. My 2 sons and I enjoyed our stay very much. Ms. Brenda was great and we would stay again 10/10!
Brenda was an amazing host. She went out of her way to help us when our truck was stranded. Her home is warm and inviting and QUIET! It is our second time visiting the property and we can’t wait to go back!
Visited for Thanksgiving week. The house was so cozy and inviting! It had everything we needed. Brenda, the owner was very responsive and accomidating as well. We enjoyed the house, property and surrounding area. Would definetly reccomend!
We loved getting away for the weekend for our anniversary. The house is absolutely amazing from being out by the fire to sitting in front of a fire place inside we loved our time at the half moon house, the house and location was so beautiful I proposed to my now fiancé at the house under the seemingly never ending stars you can see, And she said yes. From the location to the view and the quiet and peacefulness of our now go to getaway, the house is better than I could’ve imagined. The owner made sure we found the house and sent us directions and was in constant communication with anything we needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience we can wait to go back hopefully for a week next time. I couldn’t give the house a better rating 100/10 it’s absolutely perfect.
Very cool, unique property. As others have said, pics don't do it justice. Our pup was able to be off leash and enjoy all of the huge, private outdoor space
I know New England except for this area. So glad I had the opportunity to see this part. But to have this gem of a haven of comfort made it a special visit.
I took a few days escape up to Vt with my dog and we stayed at Brenda’s Half Moon house. The house is a very cool old funky fun house on an amazing piece of property. Although the foliage wasn’t what I had hoped for to do some photography landscape work, the landscape that the house is set on is absolutely beautiful. Loads of acreage to walk in the back yard, in the woods, and on the road up to the property. Super private little slice of heaven up there. Beds were very comfortable and the sunken great room with the fireplace was my fav place in the house! Stunning fireplace and the pictures don’t do it justice. It’s a nice place to stay for touring around the state/area or just to hang out for some peace and quiet. Brenda was quick and easy to communicate with. Thanks for renting out your home to us Brenda!
The photos here made me feel this booking was a gamble and it paid off! The Half-Moon house is such a special place. Staying during the fall was gorgeous. The views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom of colorful foliage were breathtaking. We wandered the property a bit and wished we had brought our dog - so much room to explore, including a very old, but still in use, tiny cemetery about halfway up the private road. The house itself is small but cozy and the design is special. The stone fireplace is amazing structure and we loved using and gazing at the crackling fires every night - everything needed was provided. The road and driveway were fine in fall with our little Prius but you would need a 4WD or plan to hike in during the winter. The living rm furniture wasn’t the most comfortable and it could have been a little cleaner in a couple of spots but this place was more than worth that small tradeoff. Can’t wait to come back!
Saw a shooting star the first night we were there! Later went to the back field and just watched the night sky (and saw a couple smaller shooting stars)
This is a beautiful house perfectly suited to the location. It is a bit older, not as shiny as some of the newer locations, but that suited us just fine. (We’re not quite so shiny anymore either)
It was interesting to read some of the history book with the note about the cemetery-which is also beautiful. Thank you for leaving that where we could find it.
We worked remotely one day we were there. Although our cellphones didn’t work, the internet was just fine and conference calls over the computer worked well. (My co-workers were jealous of the view)
Definitely an enjoyable stay.
