The property is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Barèges, within easy access of the free ski bus and a short walk to the village centre. It has been very recently refurbished and is very comfortable and welcoming. The large sitting room has a traditional fireplace, TV, DVD player and a selection of games and books. The dining room will seat 16 around a large table, perfect for sociable, leisurely meals. The fully equipped kitchen has a large modern range cooker, fridge- freezer, microwave and dishwasher. One of the two bathrooms has been completely re-fitted and now boasts a deep free standing bath for soaking away the day’s activities. The chalet is fully centrally heated, with plenty of hot water always available on demand. There is storage inside the chalet for skis, boots, etc..
Winter activities: There are several good ski rental shops in Bareges and two friendly ski schools, both with English speaking instructors. They both offer either group or private lessons. There are also dog sled rides and snow mobile hire up in the ski area, or if you wish, it is possible to hire a guide to take you off-piste
Summer activities: The village has a paragliding school, quad bike hire, and the largest privately owned botanical gardens in France. The walking is very extensive and suitable for all levels. The famous Pic du Midi observatory is easily reached by cable car from La Mongie over the spectacular Col Du Tourmalet. For those who like a challenge, it is a 10km uphill climb by bike to the Col du Tourmalet from Bareges village. The other cols which the Tour de France pass over are within an easy car ride.
