Stayed at this lovely home for a weekend with some friends while we skied at Sunday River. The home is very comfortable and spacious, we especially loved the fireplace and games played in the living room after a long day on the mountain. I absolutely recommend this property for anyone looking to stay close to Bethel/Sunday River, the proximity to Bethel was a major plus as we had access to great food options as well. Thank you Tim and Sue!
Great house in a great location, but there are some inaccuracies in the listing.
This house was good for my group, which had 7 adults.
Pros:
- Great location, close to Sunday River and downtown Bethel, but you still feel remote
- Clean
- Well-stocked kitchen
Cons:
Some inaccuracies in the listing.
- There is no hot tub, which was a major bummer since we booked this property expecting one. The property lists having both a spa whirlpool and a hot tub on VRBO. It has neither. It does have one regular bathtub.
- Sleeping arrangements are tight for a group of adults. If we had 10, as we originally intended and as the listing suggests the house sleeps, it would have been too tight. The Murphy bed in the basement has only a foam pad (no mattress) and is not quite suitable for 2 adults. The house probably sleeps 4 adults and 6 children well.
The overall experience was solid. The property is centrally located- close to the mountain and the town of Bethel. The home is spacious and good for families, as they have a ton of games/dvds/outdoor space to roam. The appliances are a little outdated and could probably use a spring spruce, but everything worked, so no real complaints on that end. The only minor issue we had was the hot water--- as there wasn't much, regardless of how quick (we were running a sub-2min shower at one point) or how long the shower was. The water never got particularly hot and maxed out at lukewarm. It was manageable for the adults, but trying to wash minions in a cold shower...in the wintertime is NOT ideal. Other than that, the owner was great with communication, and the home was welcoming.
Awesome house for a weekend at Sunday River. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Perfect for 2 families to have a great weekend. Can’t wait to stay here again next year.
Wonderful ski vacation house close to Sunday River
The chalet was perfect for our group staying over the holidays to ski at Sunday River. The house had everything we needed and plenty of space. The pictures don't do it justice at all, as it is incredibly nice inside. It was also a perfect house for skiing at Sunday River. It's an easy 15 minute drive to the resort. Plus, the downstairs mud/ski room makes everything so easy with plenty of room for all of your gear and a very easy load in/load out right outside the door. Overall, an excellent place for a ski vacation, and we will definitely come back again.
We rented the house for a wedding taking place in Bethel. The house was clean, many amenities, right down to plenty of ice in the freezer. We enjoyed the deck. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Safe for my grandchildren to play. Beds were comfortable. Close to downtown with lots to do. The only comment I would make is that the hot water wasn’t very hot. I would definitely rent again there.
Pictures on the site don’t actually do this place justice! Extremely clean, roomy and comfy place with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Went skiing to Sunday River which is about 10-15mn drive from the house. Super convenient location! Definitely recommends staying there :)
I wish we were staying another night. I will certainly book a stay here again. The chilled glass in the freezer were a perfect touch!! Thank you for allows us to visit your home.
It was a very nice clean & quiet place to stay with everything we needed for a family gathering. Would definitely stay there again. Very reasonable price.
We had a great time in this chalet!
It was very comfortable, clean, and well stocked. There are two portable AC units that were handy the first day, as it was 82 and humid, they were easy to set up and use.
We corresponded with Tim a few times before the stay, he was quick to respond and very helpful.
We had an almost 2 year old with us and he had a great time. After we blocked his access to the stairs, there were no other hazards on the main floor or basement as cords are tucked away and there are no Knick knacks to knock over or choke on. He enjoyed the Duplo and linkin logs in the basement. :)
I would recommend this place for families - just make sure to bring your own pack n’ play and high chair if needed.
We only stayed two nights but will happily return if we are ever in the area again!
We had 4 adults and 4 children in our group. The house could comfortably fit all of us. It was unseasonably warm and it was tough to keep all the bedrooms cool with the provided portable ac units but we juggled the sleeping arrangements to make it work. We enjoyed the fire pit, foosball table, the kids books and games and dvds!
We absolutely loved the cabin, the pictures did not do it justice! Only thing was the water pressure in the showers was weak, totally survivable. The book of things to do was perfect to look over to find little adventures. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
We had an amazing time at Sue & Tim's Chalet. The game room was a HUGE hit with my kids and my husband and I were able to relax upstairs on the comfy couches with a book and a drink, or the remote in hand. We played disc golf/boccee from the deck every day! The mud room was a great place to store all our beach gear and outdoor equipment too.
Great location too-far enough outside of the town, but close enough to stop in to the local grocery store, coffee shop, bowling alley (with indoor cornhole!), or little shop selling this & that & just what we were looking for-when we didn't know we were.
As mentioned on a previous comment, the internet was very spotty-but offered us a nice break from the "real" world. My daughter loved the trundle beds-she slept in each one!
Overall-we had a great time. Nice location, comfortable house-we were sad to leave, but hope to be back sometime in the future!
