This is our 3rd year staying at Wendi's beautiful home with family. It has everything you need and home and is a comfortable stay. We look forward to coming back each and every time!
This house was perfect for our family of ten. The host, Wendi, has thought of everything you would need for your vacation from a well stocked kitchen, massive movie collection, games and kids' toys, beach toys and rafts, and kayaks. The house and fenced-in backyard are beautiful. Wendi was quick to respond to any questions we had and also told us of the Saturday evening concert in the park which was so fun. We had a truly enjoyable vacation, and would definitely rent the house again!
Property was great. Plenty of room for our party of ten. Upstairs third floor was like a personal suite. We had plenty of room to gather in the kitchen for dinner and hanging on the front and back porches was a nice end to our day. Would definitely stay here again.
This was just what our extended family needed after not being together since Christmas due to the pandemic. The layout, beach equipment, kitchen items, games and backyard were just perfect for us. Wendi was so helpful and responsive.
Wendi was responsive and helpful leading up to our trip. The living spaces in the home were very large, which helped our 3 families with young kids all have the space we needed to spread out and enjoy. The backyard landscaping and fire pit were a hit as was the upstairs loft for all the kiddos. I was very satisfied with our experience and would highly recommend!
We loved staying at Wendi's house for our week in Cape Charles! We traveled with grandparents and three kids ages 5,8, and 10. Our kids loved exploring the house and couldn't believe there were two staircases. Wendi has the place fully stocked for families with tons of games, toys, beach chairs and floats. We were able to pack so much less and take advantage of all that Wendi had to share. The kitchen is lovely and big enough for our whole family to hang out in comfortably. It flowed seamlessly into an open family room, where we had the pleasure of watching the Olympics and enjoying Wendi's extensive DVD collection. The beds were comfy and everything was super clean! We just walked right in and felt immediately comfortable, it made for a great week!
Beach Town Rental that Anticipates Your Every Need
Outstanding home. We had a glitch with the lock box (not the owner’s fault) at check-in but once we were inside, everything was smooth sailing. Beautiful, spacious home which allowed privacy for everyone in our family to relax and even to conduct remote work when needed. Everything you could need was provided---kitchen was excellently supplied. We were all adults but tons of stuff (games, puzzles, outdoor space) for kids to do. Lots of beach stuff as well as a hammock and a private backyard perfect for our crab-picking night. Quiet balcony off of our bedroom which I loved. Great neighborhood, six blocks to the beach, or less to shops/restaurants. Walk or drive since parking was not a problem. Cape Charles is a cute town clearly on the rise but not yet overrun like too many beach towns. Extended family members who stayed in other rentals all want to rent this place the next time. We’ll see about that. Highly recommend.
Wendi’s house is lovely and comfortable - we had two families totaling 7 people for the second half of our stay and only used about half the beds! The huge kitchen and comfortable family/TV room were particular highlights and the big, fenced backyard was beautifully landscaped and perfect for kids.
We rented Wendi’s golf cart, which made getting to the beach and around town a breeze. Cape Charles is gorgeous and has the perfect beach for young children (minimal waves, shallow water, tons of hermit crabs to look for at low tide!) There are wonderful small businesses in town, including a bakery right around the corner that makes great cinnamon rolls! Wendi was an excellent host, responding quickly to a question about the washing machine. She also offered to mail a prescription bottle and book she discovered that we’d left behind.
Overall we had a terrific stay and would absolutely visit Cape Charles and stay in Wendi’s house again. Thank you, Wendi!
We had a great week in Wendi's lovely home. The 3rd floor was perfect for our family of 5 and then the 2nd floor rooms for other family members. The plentiful beach chairs, toys, etc. were a lifesaver for the beach and the ability to rent the golf cart was also a game changer. We enjoyed both front and back porches and the peaceful surroundings of the home. Highly recommend!
We stayed at this home in Cape Charles for 3 weeks. It was absolutely wonderful. Wendi has thought of everything (literally everything). We didn’t need to bring floats, we didn’t have to rent kayaks, we didn’t have to book a golf cart months in advance, we didn’t need to bring bikes - she has it all, and the largest movie collection we have ever seen!!
The house is so clean and well cared for. All furnishings are updated and the kitchen is wonderful. There were two fridges which made keeping drinks cool so much easier. The bedrooms are well placed in the home and there is plenty of space - the master even had a sleep number bed! Our kids really loved the attic with plenty of beds, a full bathroom, and couches and TV for hanging out. Details like a second floor laundry were so nice to have - and we loved all of the porches. Our kids loved the backyard with enough space to play and an outdoor shower to keep sand out of the house. It is such a great vacation home.
This might seem odd to mention, but the air conditioning in this house is amazing. It was always cool and comfortable in the house. That was huge for us!!
You will not regret staying here!! It was such a treat.
I never leave reviews but I was so overwhelmed about how beautiful the property was, I felt compelled to leave one.
The photos do not do this home justice. The renovations done to this 20th century home are wonderfully modern while keeping the architectural details of the time period it was built. The entry door looks original to the home, of course with modern locks. The ceilings are 12 feet on the first floor and 8/9 feet on the second. There is a beautifully curved hallway on the 2nd floor. There are pocket doors that work beautifully and keep sound from traveling. The attic floor has 4 beds and a trundle. Since it has its own tv, all the teens can stay up there and be perfectly happy. My boys said all it needs is a small fridge for drinks. All the bedrooms were large and roomy which is unusual for a home of this era.
The kitchen is HUGE! I mean it Huge! It is well equipped with good sharp knives, basic spices, lots of pots and pans as well as Tupperware for leftovers and enough plates/glasses to feed all who stay there. Wendi has 2 fridges, which makes it easier to have a beverage fridge and a food fridge.
There is a golf cart you can rent at an extra cost. Which is wonderful, because I have had difficulty getting one from either cart place these last two summers.
The kayaks, chairs, & bikes are both money and trip savers. You don't have to worry about bringing all of them with you and they are included in the price.
Finally, The garden and outdoor space are beautiful. The wrap-around front porch has rocking chairs and the 2nd-floor porch looks over the landscaped back yard. There is a hammock in the yard as well as a fire pit and wood. And, I can't forget the large outdoor shower. It had both hot & cold water and nice pressure.
We look forward to returning in the future.

First in 8 years we arrived at a house in Cape Charles without sheets on the beds. We overlooked that. The house was wonderful. It was our favorite house in all the 8 years we’ve been coming. We had decided early we would want to come back. A couple of days into the visit, the windshield on the golf cart came off and was broken. We bought the part at the local garage and fixed it ourselves. I told Wendi about this and we agreed we would split the cost of the part evenly, $45 each. Shortly after leaving, Wendi texted me that there was a blue and white comforter missing from the house. All who were down there searched our bags to no avail. No comforter. We were essentially accused of stealing it. Wendi wanted $125 for it. That plus the golf cart issue left Wendi and I agreeing that she owed me $45. That from the remainder of the $300 damage deposit. I was pretty upset by then and here is my last message to Wendi: Wendi,I can pretty much guarantee you that nobody walked out of that house with a comforter that didn't belong to us. That's not us. We are, however, the kind of people that will take responsibility for a mechanical failure (the golf cart) that the experts in Cape Charles said was a common problem. It was going to happen to someone else, if not us, and soon. Maybe even you. Keep the $45 you owe me.” I’m sorry it came to this, but without an apology, I wouldn’t even consider renting from her again.
