PLEASE NOTE: MINIMUM BOOKING IS 60 DAYS and only available from SEPT - MAY.

High point is a modern cottage that is a perfect base for working, relocating or visiting the Hickory/ Statesville area. Located just an hour from Charlotte, Greensboro and Hickory.

High point cottage

Two queen beds and two full bathroom make our cottage the perfect size for small groups. Fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave and dishwasher) with large dining table that seats 10 overlooking the lake. All kitchen appliances, two flat screen TV's with Cable TV service. Spacious screened front deck with outdoor furniture, gas grill, and large outdoor dining table. Stairs lead down to the dual dock (large fixed dock and large floating dock) where we spend all of our time either swimming, setting sail, fishing or taking in the beautiful evening views of lake lookout.

Lake lookout

Lookout shoals lake is a 1,300-acre reservoir, also known affectionately as lake lookout to the many residents who live there. Created along the Catawba river between Lake Hickory and Lake Norman, the reservoir's main purpose is hydro power generation.

Boating
The long, irregular shoreline consists of many narrow coves and arms, giving the lake a feeling of endless, meandering waters. Nearly 40% of the shoreline is designated for preservation. The 1,300 acres of water provide plenty of space for waterskiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, swimming, pontooning and sailing. The narrow arms and coves lend themselves to kayaking and canoeing.

Fishing
The lake is a popular spot for anglers seeking large mouth bass, crappie, panfish and several varieties of catfish. Striped bass are stocked yearly. The wildlife resource commission has worked diligently to enhance fish habitats, improving native aquatic vegetation stands to promote spawning and food sources. Fishing tournaments are held at the reservoir on a regular basis.

Canoeing
A special canoe launch site is located below the lake hickory dam at Catawba county's Riverbend park for floating the stretch of river down into lookout shoals lake. An angler's trail provides bank fishing.

We are the Reid Family. We live in the Piedmont-Triad area of North Carolina. High Point has been an enjoyable part of our family as our two boys have grown up. With weekend and high school sport we are not using the cottage as much as we did during the school year.

So we have decided to allow others to enjoy our beautiful place at the lake and hopefully, create lasting memories just as we have over the last 5+ years! We hope you will decide to stay with us and look forward to helping you enjoy your stay at the lake!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Lake Lookout as soon as we realized that the long lake was perfect for skiing and tubing without the crowds of Lake Norman. Then after a few trips up and down the lake on fishing trips we discovered the fun of catfishing. Finally we settled on a modern cottage on the West (Catawba) side of the lake. We hope you will enjoy our cottage as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Our favorite activities at the lake:

Waking up and sitting on the screened porch while reading a book.
Driving to the local diner Cindy’s Starlight Diner for breakfast.
Casting a fishing rod from the dock midmorning while catching some sunshine.
Taking the kids skings and tubing behind the jet ski.
Canoeing down from the Riverbend Park to the dock.
Laying out on the dock sunbathing.
Taking the chairs to the dock and talking as the sun starts to set.
Cooking a huge meal for the family and friends then eating around the large dining room table.
Ending the night on the porch listing to the night time boats and noises from the lake.

Start you own memories here on the banks of the Lake.
