Hale Nanea is tucked away with a quiet secluded beach in front. The peaceful gardens around the house and white sand beach just steps away allows you to enjoy your own piece of island paradise. It is located on the North Shore of Oahu near world renowned surf breaks but away from the hustle. A lagoon that stretches the length of the beach is perfect for snorkeling. There is surfing on the reefs on the outside of the lagoon in the winter. There are elegant gardens surrounding the house that feature many native plants. The house is furnished with hand made furniture and accent pieces from Indonesia and Asia. You can enjoy the quiet tranquility of the house and beach or within minutes be in the town of Haleiwa for dining, shopping and drinks. Owners live on the property. We are available if you need anything but your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and will always be respected. When you enter the property you pass our house and when we walk to the beach we pass your house. ***Please note*** We have a 7 and a 5 year old. The houses share one wall that has the laundry room, storage and a bedroom on our side. Noise transfer has not been an issue except what you may hear out the windows. You will see the kids and possibly neighbor kids that come over to the beach. There is no air conditioning in the home. There are ceiling fans and floor fans. The tropics can get very hot in the summer. If heat is a concern for you this may not be the best option.

Good location if you want to get away from the crowds.
This is a private and secluded home away from the crowds where you have direct access to the beach with very few people around. You can enjoy dinner on the table at the beach and watch the sunset. Laura was a great host and we would definitely stay again.

Great beach access and good value
We wanted to stay on a property with access to this beach as we had done previously, and this property was much more reasonably priced. Conveniently located to Haleiwa. There is private access to a fantastic beach, which gives a great place to stargaze. Jake gave us some great tips on other beaches to visit. The unit had everything we needed to cook. When I arrived I was a little nervous about privacy as the property is small and the unit adjoins the main house, but privacy was not an issue at all. There's a note on the description about the owners' new baby. We heard the bub just a couple of times and this was never a problem. There aren't any internal doors, so be aware of this if you are not 100% comfortable with your travel companion! But the unit is really well designed to provide privacy without doors. The gardens are lovely and lush and I loved seeing all the different lizards living there. If I head back to the North Shore I would love to return to this property.
We had a lovely visit to the north shore. The property is perfect for relaxing and the hosts are responsive and kind. Would definitely stay here again!
This was the perfect place for us. Quiet serenity with the beach just feet from the front door. The living place was an open Asian bungalow, that made us feel relaxed and at home. We had everything we needed to enjoy the casual North Shores of Oahu.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay! Snorkeling off the beach was amazing and we saw Turtles in the water everyday. The garden is beautiful. Couldn't get enough of those Plumeria trees! Great location, we explored the North Shore everyday and came back to a lovely home away from home. Thank you so much for having us! We hope to be back one day. :)
Thanks to our host Laura and her nice place with a direct access to the beach and sea. We felt like we were in a small jungle with beautiful plants.

AMAZING location! You walked out the back door and in less than a minute not only were you on a semi private beach but there were great snorkeling and even sea turtles right there!
Laura was really easy to contact and quick to respond.
The ONLY thing (and I'm only posting this because I wish I would have known) was there was almost zero privacy. We chose a vrbo over a condo because we're very private people and there was laughably no privacy. We were having to get changed in the shower just because there are no window coverings and we'd be getting changed and someone would walk past our open window. There wasn't even a door on the restroom. There are roll down shades on the bedroom window but between dust and the humidity they had "gooped" open and were VERY hard to close. My husband checked and even if they were closed at night if there were any lights on inside you could still see into the bedroom. We also would have liked to watch movies at night but you have to leave all the windows open for ventilation and we didn't want to disturb the neighbors.
I'm also not a reptile person and there are geckos(?) living in the rafters. We named him Chirpy and that did help. It seemed that he just stayed in the rafters luckily...
Both very happy with the location to the beach but would we stay again...I don't know. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm posting because I read the reviews and wish someone would have said something :)
The location of this property is ideal. We like to be away from the hustle, bustle of the Waikiki and Honolulu area, and the North Shore is a perfect fit for us. We loved the property, the beautiful flowers on the property, and especially the beach. Almost always empty. Greatly enjoyed watching the sea turtles in the water! I would highly recommend this property. Laura was a wonderful host!
Our second time at the property. Hosts were very respectful of privacy and gracious. The unit is peaceful and quiet and the location cannot be beat. Great to go nowhere and just relax on the beach, and a perfect base location for North shore, and a short drive or bike ride to town.
This place is a beautiful little retreat, a peaceful place with a lovely garden and a quiet beach setting just steps from the house/garden. Laura is a very friendly and helpful host. We can only recommend this place. Thank you very much.
What a great home and location. Laura and her family were so accommodating. The house was perfect for the two of us, so relaxing. The beach was amazing, beautiful sunrise and sunsets everyday. We can't wait to return!
Well-appointed luxury beach cottage with excellent North Shore location
Easy parking on a quiet residential street. Beautiful carved gate entry with carefully tended native gardens. The curving yard with paving stones feels like a miniature botanical garden. Trees and shrubs provides ample shade and lots of privacy and noise barrier. Windows allow tons of light and breeze. Two entrances to apartment, both on ground floor. Wood carvings, behomeian furniture, and metalwork decorations, comfy bed and couch, huge dining table, open air shower, small fountains and mediation bowls, wooden beach shower for de-sanding, cocktail table with 4 chairs on coast for dinners. Perfect sunset viewing. Soft sand, live coral within 10 feet of sand, cute crabs that are active digging burrows at sunset! Owners are super chill and welcoming. Neighbors next door were smiley and happy. Just simply a great vibe. Close to food trucks, boat piers, Sharks Cove for the best snorkeling we did on Oahu, and even only 50min to Polynesian Cultural Center. This feels like a top notch retreat.
Relaxing sanctuary on the north shore with private beach access!
My partner and I had the most amazing stay here during our time on Oahu and would stay here again if (when) we come back to the island! The house was clean and had the most beautiful, serene decor. I was in awe at all of the flowering trees lining the path every time we walked to our front door. The private beach access was great and the beach was always so empty and quiet. Plus we saw sea turtles on the beach everyday right in front of us! We enjoyed a sunset dinner on the beach every night at the table and chairs set up. Highly recommend!
Beautiful beachfront cottage offered both shade and sun. The house, tucked among a tropical garden and trees, provided privacy and kept the house shaded and just the right temperature. Erika, a friend of the owners who were out of town, was helpful and friendly while still giving us plenty of space. Would definitely rent this place again.
What an amazing stay- you cannot beat the location. Just steps to the beach. You can't beat those sunset views or snorkeling with sea turtles. Laura and Jake have created such a tranquil space, it was by far the best stay we had while visiting the islands. An easy drive to Haleiwa to several amazing restaurants, and away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu/Waikiki.
Host/hostess excellent and great communicators . Property better than described. Excellent location to swim and snorkel. 5-10 minutes to Haleiwa restaurants and stores but property is well away and very quiet and personal.
For two adults wanting peace and quiet with immediate beach access without the crowds this was perfect! Laura, Jake and family were awesome! House had everything you could ask for in convenience and comforts. Loved all of it!
If parties with lots of people are your thing than don’t look here!
We loved staying here. The location was quiet, and just a few steps from the beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We loved seeing the turtles in the water and on shore! Will definitely be staying here again!
My wife and I stayed here for two nights coming back from a South Pacific vacation. We were looking for a beachfront property along the north shore (our favorite part of Oahu), and this property fit our needs perfectly. The owner (Laura) referred time it as “being out in the country”; and while it is nearly at the end of the road, it is a very short drive to good restaurants, grocery shopping and other services. The property is beautiful and imaginatively decorated. It’s a bit rustic, but quite comfortable. It has a full kitchen, a cozy living area with cable TV (if needed), a very comfortable bedroom and a bathroom with shower. It’s very comfortable for two and could accomodate kids. There is a short walk through the back garden to the beach.
As the Owner makes clear, the is no AC, but there are numerous fans. We were there in early December, so the temperatures were quite comfortable both during the day and at night.
We really enjoyed our short stay and wished we could have stayed longer. It is a very special place!
The house was exactly as described and Laura and Jake were welcoming but gave us plenty of privacy. We wanted somewhere on the quieter side and we had a lovely stay, sitting on the beach and snorkelling. We were lucky enough to see lots of Turtles and one afternoon about five came out and rested on the beach. . We very much hope to come back. Thank you for your hospitality

About the host
Hosted by Laura
My husband and I are both from Iowa but we met here in Hawaii. Our mutual love for the ocean brought us together and made us want to build our life here together.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this property from our friend. He had transformed the place into an amazing beachfront oasis. We got married right here on the beach in front of the property. We fell in love with it and I'm sure you will too.
What makes this property unique
The beach in front of the house can't be compared to. It's so quiet and peaceful you won't want to leave.
