Hobart
New Town, a neighbourhood in Hobart, is home to this cottage. Travelling with kids? Consider Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and Hobart Aquatic Centre.
We stayed at this lovely cottage while we were competing at the Domain Athletics Centre over the Easter Weekend. It was a lovely old place with lots of character. The host was wonderfully responsive and provided us some basics for breakfast, which considering the lateness of our arrival was really appreciated. It was easy to park out the front and only a short drive to our venue as well as the city centre.
It was exactly what we were after and would highly recommend to others wanting to stay.

Cute cottage on the outside
We enjoyed our stay at the property but we a little surprised with the state of the property. A few cracks in the walls, mould in the bathroom and scratched doors. The beds in the main bedroom were quite hard but the room with the two singles was more comfortable. The property has what you need for a stay away and many essential items were included, which was very much appreciated.

Recent stay
The photos do not accurately represent the property for its current state. Ceiling mould in bathroom, leaking roof in entryway. Another structure has been built at rear of property eliminating part of the garden and privacy shown in photos.
Great stay in this lovely little character home in a quiet central location. We were a family of 4 with 2 young children, and the house was equipped with everything to meet our needs. Vicki the host was also very responsive to communications.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in the Gatehouse. Host was helpful providing information on some of Hobart's attractions and check in was smooth.
The cottage is quaint, and contains all amenities you need for a house stay. It is also very close to the Hobart CBD and only a 3 minute drive to the North Hobart restaurant precinct. Plenty to choose from there.
Great location and wonderful home base while exploring Hobart and surrounding areas. Easily accessible to the city, restaurants and also easy to get out of town for drives. Addition of the breakfast basics was nice little bonus.
Very comfortable cottage and relaxing on chilly Hobart nights.
The property is just as advertised. It had everything you needed, even a big bowl of fruit that my daughter happily plowed through. Really really warm. Close to the city and to a multitude of eating places in North Hobart. There were only two of us - mother and daughter- so we had plenty of space. Absolutely ideal for a small family. We loved it!!
Warm and homely and had all the facilities that we needed.
Quaint (in an old way).
Handy to Hobart Metro bus network.
Sleeps 4 or 5, but might be bit awkward with more than 2 adults.
Comfy house, good breakfast supplies. Close to city, we didn't have a car but there is a bus stop across the road and we used Uber also. 5minutes walk away is a great grocer and liquor shop, also a great bakery!
Totally cute, a homely space, and moments from everything!
It may have been the Gate House to the grand mansion standing behind it, but this little cottage has all you need in one of the best places in Hobart. A short walk takes you to the delight of North Hobart with great food and shops nearby. A short trip by car takes you to the centre of town, the wharfs and all that Hobart is renowned for. The cottage has all you need and more.. restful spaces, a kitchen if you want to stay at home one evening and a cosy lounge to watch movies or just chill. Vicki stayed in touch up until our stay and ensured the cottage was slick and span. I had my e-bike with me, which meant that on some days the car stayed at home. The intercity bike trail being just a km away. From there you can travel the shore line north and south was safety and ease. Happy to recommend and thanks for a lovely week!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful little cottage while in Hobart. The location was super convenient for our needs, and the cottage itself was very comfortable for our family of four. A lovely, warm, and comfortable place to return to after a day of exploring, which was very welcome on the chilly winter nights.
Super comfy beds let the 3 of us unwind and catch up in a cosy, warm, well equipped cottage that was superbly located allowing us to explore Hobart at our leisure.
This property is comfortable and a home-away-from-home, with everything you need - from amazing shower, to dishwasher, to access to Netflix and internet. The central location is great, with access to nearby bustling North Hobart and only 5 minutes drive to the docks. We loved this Stayz property!
We are staying at Vicki’s beautiful cottage. I believe is not just the cottage that makes this place very special, but Vicki’s attitude and approach makes it even better. Vicki is empathetic, supportive and accomodating. I am a doctor who started working in emergency department and who is desperately looking for a place to live in Hobart and because of our dog we have been unsuccessful with applications. Vicki allowed Max our golden retriever to stay at her cottage with us, even though the accomodation was not opened for pets, giving us time to find a place to live. We are ever so grateful and Max has enjoyed the place very much as well as us. This cottage is so beautiful. The beds are one of the best beds we have ever slept in. The entire place remind us of our home back in England. It is simply beautiful. I will definitely recommend this gorgeous cottage as retreat to enjoy Hobart as it is very close to the CBD. One last observation my kids feel safe staying here while I am at work, the area where the cottage is located it is safe, beautiful and peaceful. Thank you Vicki for allowing us to stay here. We love your cottage ❤️
Lovely cottage in great location. The breakfast goodies were a lovely surprise and we all found the beds very comfortable . A great place to stay when exploring beautiful Hobart.
