About this property

Cute bungalow has a mixture of old time charm - it was built in 1846! - and new amenities. Easy walk to Main Street, four blocks to the riverfront, short walk to the new Heritage Trial, and short beautiful drive to Clifty Falls. Kitchen is fully equipped including dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker and pods. There is a full size washer and dryer. There is also a little sun porch that is the perfect place to drink your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Our homes are extremely clean and wiped down and sanitized after every guest has checked out.

Cozy and Clean

My husband and I and our 13 pound dog spent a delightful two nights at this adorable, immaculately kept home. The house is tastefully decorated, has a well equipped kitchen, two nice bathrooms and a nicely landscaped enclosed backyard. It’s also within walking distance to restaurants and shops. We couldn’t have asked for more and will absolutely rent this home on our next Madison visit.

Great place and location will stay again

This property was very clean and a nice comfy place to stay for our 25 year anniversary. The extra effort that was put in on the backyard fence to prevent animals from greeting out was awesome and the backyard was very beautiful. We would love to book this place again during warmer weather in the future, but still warm and great during the winter.

This was our third stay at Black Cat Cottages, our second in the shot gun on West 3rd. When we decided to treat ourselves to Thanksgiving in Madison, we didn't even consider other locations. Thanks for doing what you do! I'm sure we will be back!

Stay at black cat cottage

Wonderful place. Very comfortable and the old and new decor was great. The amenities were unexpected. Short walk to restaurants and shops. Short drive to CliftyFalls. Nice backyard for my dog. Would definitely love to stay here again. Communication with Stew was great. I would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Great Getaway in Madison

Perfect cottage in Madison! In walking distance to so many things to do. The house was exactly as described, very clean and well taken care of. It was well stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely re-book with Madison Black Cat Cottages. They far exceeded our expectations. We all had a wonderful stay.

Very charming house in great location

Very charming house and is bigger than it looks in the pictures. House is very clean. House is in a great location close to downtown, and in a safe area. Host provides a list of area restaurants and points of interest in the area, also they left homemade cookies ( very nice touch!). I would highly recommend staying here if you are coming to Madison. We will most definitely be staying here again!!!

Home away from home

Everything was wonderful. House was very quaint and picture on VRBO didn’t due it justice. Perfect location. It was everything we needed! Hope to be back with friends.

Had a great stay at this fantastic house!

Easy check in and the house was perfect. Clean and beautiful inside. Many upgrades and decorated perfectly. Loved the kitchen. The owners kept many of the old features and blended them well with the new features. The back yard is small but they made great use of all the space. Plenty of room for entertaining. Also a space for pets were provided with waste bags. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Only used the bedroom in the back but slept well. Thank you for letting us stay at your house. We were visiting our daughter and would definitely recommend this location and would stay there in the future.

Beautiful home and property

This home is an absolutely gorgeous renovation. The Hizeys have done such a wonderful job and are great to work with. With all of the high end finishes, cleanliness, and even the little touches like Tide pods, dishwasher pods, K-Cups, Ziplock baggies, Firewood and fire starter.... we felt like we were right at home. You think you forgot to bring something, just look around, I'm sure it there for you to use. This was a fabulous property and we truly enjoyed the backyard. The dogs next door were a bit annoying with their barks of what sounded like a fight club going on nextdoor. That's the only reason I gave the neighborhood and location 3 stars.... but that has nothing to do with rental itself. We will definitely consider this property if we decide to return to Madison.

Better than pictures

This is the cutest, cleanest place ever. The pictures on the website are old because it is much better than the pictures. The kitchen was fabulous. Could move right in and start cooking. Everything you ever need is in that kitchen. Beds were topnotch, bedding was high end. When they redid this shotgun house they spared no expense. The backyard is safely fenced in and safe for our little dogs.No escape holes for them. Loved the sitting room where we could sit and watch them as it was too hot to be out for very long. We picked the hottest days in the year for this trip. We ate at the Lighthouse and don't recommend it unless you like heavily fried food. The Red Pepper for pizza is great as is the deli across the street for the best sandwiches ever. It is only a block away so very convenient.. This is truly the best place we have ever stayed in Madison and we have visited there frequently. Whoever decorated this cute place is welcome to come and redecorate my house.

Very nice house. Patio very nice and dog friendly for our chihuahua. We will probably book again! It’s close to Red pepperoni and the Red Pepper, also handy for shopping at the Olde Thyme Market. Nice walk to river and antique malls.

Anniversary getaway

We loved our stay. The Bungalow and it’s location were a plus! Close to downtown, easy walk to the river and Heritage trail. Our dogs loved their freedom in the backyard. We’ve stayed at a few places this was our favorite!

We love the Madison area and all that it offers! We are native to California and decided to move here part time when our kids and grand kids moved nearby. We were not use to having seasons and the mid-west has been something to get use to. All the seasons are wonderful (except winter) from spring bloom to the amazing colors of fall. We love hosting our guests and try to give each and everyone of them a great place to stay.

Why they chose this property

This home is a classic Shotgun house that has been totally redone. You will experience the mid 1800's architecture with a mix of modern comfort and decor. We are located in the downtown historic district where you can walk to most restaurants and shops. One block to main street and three blocks to the riverfront. We are pet friendly on a case by case basis (we try to except the whole family), and have a fenced backyard for Fido.
