My wife and I spent 23 nights at Palm Condos Aruba, a beautiful resort in a great location that is kept spotless by the hard working staff. Our rental unit however, 309, was not as advertised. VRBO needs to hold this owner accountable and to a higher standard. First of all they double booked our unit and we only learned 2 weeks in advance that we would have to select another unit, none of which we wanted. We agreed to stay in unit 312 for the first 2 nights, and move to 309 we had booked months prior on the 3rd day. This unit was a disaster, with so much moisture and humidity that the bedding was wet to the touch. The dehumidifier was full and not running. The kitchen utensils were old, worn out, filthy and unusable, the kitchen chairs were all stained, the blinds didn't work, and the couch was dirty. The local hosts, Prestige Reallty, moved us the next day because we refused to spend another night in this unit. The second unit was fine and on day 3 we moved to the unit we originally selected (309). No moisture or humidity problem in this unit, although black mold is now starting to form around the leaking bedroom AC unit. Also in the bedroom the blinds are light coloured and don't block out the exterior light right outside the window. We hung a blanked over them to allow us to sleep, or at least try to on an old, hard matress that needs to be replaced. The pillows were worn out as well after numerous washing. We asked for new pillows which were replaced with other old pillows. The room safe didn't work for the first 2 days and we had to keep our valuables with us. The kitchen was poorly equipped for a rental, without a can opener or cork screw we had to buy ourselves but we're later reimbursed for. We didn't find out that the oven didn't work until our third week and the lighter provided to light the stove was empty, later replaced. The biggest problem was that the listing indicated washer & dryer, but it's a single Samsung unit, with Spanish instructions that is supposed to wash and then dry your clothes. The dryer didn't work and we had to dry our clothes on a rack on the balcony. Bottom line the owner of this unit has put Prestige Reallty in a tough spot and needs to do some much needed upgrades. Rolando & Jennifer tried hard to address our concerns and we appreciate that. We lodged a complaint with VRBO on January 20 - seeking a refund for at least the first 2 nights and as of Jan 28 when we checked out we haven't heard a thing from them.
