Welcome to The Retreat, our luxurious cosy cottage, nestled in a pristine pocket of The Huon Valley, known as Nicholls Rivulet. Stylish and beautifully furnished with luxury touches.
A perfect place to stay a while, relax, unwind and forget the pressures of everyday life. Situated in a tranquil setting in the far south of Tasmania, it s an ideal relaxing getaway for 2. A perfect base to explore the delights of the Huon Valley.

The Retreat is a luxury couple s haven located 40 minutes south of Hobart, very close to the small hamlet of Woodbridge and artisan village of Cygnet.
Exclusively yours, this unique self contained cottage is a romantic getaway that will feel like your own country home away from home. Sitting in a pretty native garden with private access.
The Retreat features a luxurious King Size Bed and stunning en-suite. Gorgeous self catering kitchen with a welcome hamper for the weary traveler, including breakfast provisions to help you start your day exploring the region.
Coffee, tea, milk, fruit and other pantry essentials are also provided.

Smart TV, Netflix and for those cosy nights in cuddled up in front of the wood burning fire place as well as free WiFi.
The Retreat started it s life as a working man s cottage in Tarraleah during the construction of the Hydroelectric Scheme in the 1930 s. Transported to the property in the late 1990 s, spent the next 20 years converted into a tractor shed. Two years ago my husband and I fell in love with and purchased this beautiful property, converting the tractor shed and creating a luxurious getaway for 2.
Nearby is the artisan village of Cygnet with an assortment of lovely cafes, shops, galleries, markets and many essential services such as a post office, petrol station, pubs and bottle shops.
Cygnet is also home to the world famous Cygnet folk festival, which is held every January. The retreat is also close to the natural wonders of Bruny Island and some of the most pristine beaches in the world, amazing walks, national parks and many other local attractions.

A cozy and relax retreat

The retreat is clean, bright and very comfortable. The large TV with Netflix is a bonus. Easy to access to the accommodation and close to the town of Cygnet. Thank you Ruth for sharing your lovely home to us!

Amazing views, beautiful cottage - you can't go wrong.

A beautifully appointed cottage in an idyllic environment. So relaxing and luxurious, yet simple. We loved it, didn't want to leave after 3 days and would love to stay again! Ruth was the perfect host - informative and helpful, but never intrusive.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. Ideal base to explore south of Hobart. Cygnet very quaint with several coffee shops. Commercial pub great pub grub. Ashcraig Thai unbelievably good for what looks like a roadside shed. Top marks to host Ruth. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Exquisite country cottage

We spent a couple of days at the cottage outside Cygnet. Beautifully appointed private cottage with lovely quiet surroundings. Cosy fireplace to add to the ambiance.

this is a beautiful stylishly decirated cottage with wood fire in picturesque surrounds. lots of thoughtful touches. it's studio style rather than a separate bedroom but was great for a couple with a young baby.

Huon Valley stay

A beautiful cottage up the valley from nearby Cygnet, this was a great spot for us to stay for our 5 night visit to the Huon region. We arrived the last day of the Cygnet Folk Festival which was good fun and spent the next few days exploring many of the towns and national park areas down the valley. An amazingly comfortable bed and lounge, fabulous decor and amenities, thank you Ruth and Phil! Lots of wild life and farm animals to enjoy along with beautiful views from the lovely big windows and garden. If you come to stay, make sure you visit the wonderful shops and cafes in Cygnet with lovely friendly people and yummy fresh produce.... which you can take back to prepare at the cottage!

Stunning accommodation

We can't speak highly enough about our 4 night stay in 'The Haven' in Nicholls Rivulet. Ruth and Phillip were great hosts. The setting is lovely with only sheep and horses as close neighbours. Everything is so tastefully decorated and the attention to detail was appreciated. Our first night was cool and before long we had a lovely fire going with plenty of wood supplied. The bed was so comfortable and we slept well, such tranquility. The kitchen is well equipped and we had a lovely basket of eggs, cereals, tea, coffee, biscuits, crisps and bread, juice and milk in the refrigerator waiting for us. The bathroom was complete with lovely shampoo, conditioner and body wash and lovely soft fluffy towels. The cute little town of Cygnet is close by with quaint shops. We were well placed to explore the south of the Island and Bruney Island too. Unfortunately due to the fires we unable to explore south of Huonville as the road was closed to the public. Thank you Ruth and Phillip for a most enjoyable stay.
