Anniversary Cottage is a self sufficient, self catering, holiday hideaway, ideal for a romantic weekend or a country escape from city living. Whatever the season the cottage is perfect for short or longer stays. Enjoy a lazy, hot outdoorsy summer or a cosy midwinter getaway sipping mulled wine around the fire. As one guest said “Anniversary Cottage is utterly perfect! An absolute peach of a cottage which blends nostalgia with all the comfort and mod cons of today”.

In the garden, close to the cottage, is a romantic alfresco gazebo/ bathhouse with antique cast iron bath tub (water heated by gas burner) roll down rattan blinds and antique candelabra. A perfect spot to lie back and soak with a book and glass of Limerock (local vineyard) wine or enjoy a starlit bath at night.

Walk through The Ridge House's landscaped gardens to use the private spa pool. Soak in the spa while you enjoy a view of snow clad mountains, magnificent sunsets and night skies full of stars. (NB prior booking essential $50 fee per stay).
We also have a petanque court and outdoor chess board for guest enjoyment.

Anniversary Cottage (circa 1860) is located in the charming historic village of Waipawa, just an hour south of Napier Airport and Napier City, or 3 hours by car from Wellington. The cottage enjoys a truly beautiful position on an elevated ridge overlooking the village and sweeping views out over the rural hinterland. As the gatehouse to a larger villa and private garden the cottage is surrounded by its own gardens, a formal lavender parterre with walnut and citrus and Victorian vegetable garden with fruit trees. To the west are vast views of rolling hills bounded by the snow-capped Ruahine Mountains.

The cottage has been carefully restored with great attention to detail and the comfort of discerning guests; quality mattresses, top quality lavender scented linen and fluffy, white air dried towels. The cottage has been furnished with country antiques and good china. For those who love to cook it includes a new ceramic top stove, range-hood, fridge, microwave etc and laundry with washing machine. Use of a BBQ, spa pool, croquet lawn and petanque pitch and balls are available on request.

The local area abounds with attractions and activities, many cafes (visit Nola’s), many antique and bric-a-brac shops, not to mention the now famous Waipawa Butchery source of the best sausages and steaks in the country. Try trout fishing on the Waipawa and Tukituki rivers (rods available, day license req’d), trail biking (bikes available), horse trekking (bring your horse, grazing available), country walks, golf, tennis, petanque, try the local pubs and enjoy riverside picnics, etc, etc. For those who love the ocean its barely 30 minutes drive to superb surf and ocean fishing beaches. Visit Junction Vineyard just 15 minutes from the cottage for superb wine of international quality. Within 30 minutes there are literally dozens of vineyards and the fabulous orchards of the fruit bowl of Hawkes Bay round Havelock North & Hastings.

The cottage is well located for the big events of Hawkes Bay too, such as Deco Weekend, Big Band and Jazz, The Mission Concert, Vineyard Concerts, Opera at the Townhall, Horse of the Year (grazing available) and many, many more events.
