Best Location in Sosua, Recently Renovated Spacious 1 Bedroom, Caribbean

Unique property right on the Alicia beach, best in Sosua. Other beaches were damaged/destroyed in 2017 by Irma and Maria Hurricanes.

The complex was built in 2007. Only 15 minutes ride from Puerto Plata International Airport, Los Balcones is right on the best beach in Sosua and 5 minutes walk to the heart of Sosua.

This beautiful condo features a full kitchen, queen bed, full bathroom, living room and a balcony that overlooks the gardens and pool and out to the ocean. Cable TV and fiber optics Internet 20/2 Mb/sec with WiFi.

The kitchen has fridge, microwave, dishwasher, blender and full stove and oven. The air conditioned living room has cable TV, internet/WiFi and french doors leading to the balcony with stunning views.

The bedroom has a queen-size bed with a new Serta Orthopedic mattress and air conditioning

Please note that renters are responsible for the electricity charges, normally it is not exceeding US$2 a day, but if you use A/C constantly it may go up to $10. Please take the electric meter reading when you check-in. The charge is RD$12 (US$0.24) per kWh.

Great located apartment, absolutely relaxing area.. you don't hear motorbikes or cars...directly at a Rock plateau and beside a great beach. Great equipped apartment and nice host..

Beautiful Get-Away

A beautiful find in a wonderful location. The manager and owner were exceptionally easy to work with. We met wonderful people (locals and visitors) and even went Latin dancing at Cabaret. Sosua is a perfect place to hide and retreat from the world or go enjoy the local scene. The main beach is active and full of things to do and great food. Playa Alicia is quiet and gorgeous little beach (look up the history) and we were able to relax and enjoy the sun. Food was excellent everywhere we ate but if you prefer to stay in, the grocery store has everything you need. We felt safe the entire time we were there and thoroughly enjoyed our time. If we could change anything, it would be to have stayed even longer.

Feels like a private beach

Fabulous condo. The public entrance to Playa Alicia is at the other end of the beach and few people venture down towards Los Balcones. Like having a private beach! And excellent staff at Los Balcones.

Another Vacation In Paradise

My husband and I just spent 3 weeks at Los Balcones. In 2022 we also spent 3 weeks at Michaels unit. This location is a little slice of heaven. The view is spectacular as well as the proximity to all amenities. Playero grocery store is a short 10 min walk. As well as restaurants and bars and stores. We travelled by public bus to Puerta Plata for the day. Wonderful place to meet fellow Canadians who become long term friends. Also Michael is a gem to deal with from start to finish. Great location on beach

Property has direct access to Alicia beach, short walk to Sosua beach. The washer dryer in unit was great having. Porch is a great spot to watch sunrise and sets. Security was great. Snorkeling on Alicia beach over to right side farther from complex wall was great, Sousa snorkel reef directly out from middle of beach where lifeguard stand is. Also went fishing and to 27 waterfalls. Service at beach chairs and umbrella 10 dollars for the day, included beverage / food service. Wish we could have stayed longer. Host was very responsive.

Great Condo on the Beach!

I had a great stay at Los Balcones once again. It was my second stay at the place in 2017. In addition to what I wrote in my previous review in March, I was pleasantly surprised by freshly painted walls and new furniture in the living room as well as renovated condo common area, pool and Jacuzzi. Another advancement was faster beach access due to sand build-up, the stairs from condo to the ocean that used to end in the ocean now give a more direct sandy beach access, just 50 meters, three times shorter than before. Highly recommend. I can't wait to visit again :)

Wonderful spot

We had a great stay! Very clean and welcoming and the view was superb. The beach is only down a staircase from the property. There is a pool on the grounds as well as greenspace. The condo is very lovely and had everything we could need. Checking in was a breeze and Michael was a great host, he answered any questions we had very quickly. The property is in a great location, close to the beach and any amenities. There were lots of restaurant options near by and the grocery store was only a short walk. We only stayed a night but we'd love to stay longer next time. I'd definitely recommend this spot for vacationing, it was quiet and private but everything you want is close by. Thanks!

Speculator location

You have to see it for yourself! Nothing has changed since my previous written review. The beach is very close, you can hear the waves hit the coastline. The beach almost seems private, it wasn't overcrowded. This location is off the grid but close to everything. The customer service provided by Nenad was exceptional. I will definitely make this my first choice when looking for a rental property.

Paradise in Sosua

The condo was great. The views are amazing. We loved the pool. Michael was very quick in responding. Security staff, gardener and other guests made us feel very welcomed. We met a sweet couple that own there, Eddie and Betty, they took us to breakfast at one of their favorite spots right on Encuentro beach. We ate at Flip Flops twice. The Waterfront Restaurant was very good as well. We did a party catamaran snorkeling trip, Puerto Plata day trip, and a Dune Buggy tour. All were amazing. Word of warning…the sand is super hot! We have been to other islands and this was the hottest I have ever walked on. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay again

It was my second stay at the place. Not much to add to the previously published review, although the TV was upgraded to Smart TV with a larger screen so I could enjoy watching movies using my Netflix account. Everything was good, the apartment was clean and spacious, the common areas and the pool well maintained. Ocean sunset view from the Jacuzzi was spectacular. The staff and the owner were friendly and accommodating. The only thing I would recommend is to replace the towels, they seem a bit old.

great apt great location great views

Michael and his staff were very accomodating. They arrange for transportation to and from the airport and answer any questions you may have. The grounds of the apartment complex are well kept, the pool is beautiful, and you have direct access to the beach. The apartment itself is very clean, has a washer and dryer inside the apartment which comes in handy and a beautiful terrace with spectacular views. It wouldnt be fair if i didn't include some drawbacks, no place is 100% so with that being said the furnishings could use updating especially the sofa. Overall I would stay again its still a great apt in a great location.

Beautiful location

Los Balcones was a great spot to spend my vacation. Friends have told me about Sosua and insisted that I visit. It did not disappoint! The condo is lovely, with a great view of the ocean. The furniture is all new and the walls looked freshly painted. The full kitchen has everything you need if you want to stay in to eat. The beach is down a set of stairs from the building, and there is a pool and Jacuzzi also. Everything you could need is only a short walk away as well; many options for food and drinks, the grocery store is well stocked. The on-site building staff were very pleasant. Michael was very helpful with my questions. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends as a vacation rental, and will be back again soon.

A slice of paradise in Sosua

This gem was so much more than the pictires can show. I just returned frok my 6 day stay. I miss it already. Walking distance from the main strip where the restaurants and shops are. Beautiful apt with all the amenities you need. Real Cable TV!!! Breathtaking sunrises from your balcony. I got up early every day just to take it in. Great pool, hot tub with an amazing view. The sounds of the waves against the cliff where the property is located was so relaxing. 24 hour security was super courteous and friendly. They even gave me fresh cut flowers during my stay. Apt is nicely furnished and clean. The owner answered all my questions and guided me to great restaurants for when I went out to dinner. The private beach next to the property was perfection. So beautiful and clean. I will definitely be back. This is a "favorite " for me! Thank you so much!

Quiet and beautiful location on the beach of Alicia in Sosua

What I did not like, a few minor things: some bathroom fixtures dislocated, ground floor apartment, so a bit more noise than an upper level apartment. What I liked: Very nice layout with decent view of ocean. Nice furniture, including balcony furniture of loveseat, coffee table and two chairs. Decent-sized balcony. I left balcony doors open all night and had no problems. Balcony is nicely designed so that you aren’t staring at people on other balconies. A couple of flies but no mosquitoes. Regular coffee maker and Italian-style 2-cup stove-top coffee maker also. Pretty complete range of pots/pans/dishware/glasses, and corkscrew. Bottled water and stand and property manager checked to ensure there was a full bottle (property mgr was good). Good supply of towels, and washer/dryer in the apartment. Free/easy parking. Friendly security guards. Excellent access to beach next door and Atlantic Ocean waves crashing as you fall asleep. Easy walking distance to downtown, supermarkets, main Sosua beach (different beach). Microwave, range with oven. Full size refrigerator which makes decent ice. Would definitely stay here again if by myself.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

Just returned from spending 18 days at Los Balcones! Trip of a lifetime for sure. Michael made this trip perfect from the time of booking. He arranged for the property manager Raphael to pick us up at the airport. $20 US for the ride. The pictures do not do this location justice. The sound of the ocean was so relaxing. Michael was always available for any of our questions. Condo was spotless and had all amenities you could ever need. Manny the gardener and all security guards made us feel like family. Downtown and grocery store were a 5 min walk. A quick walk down the beach was The Waterfront Restaurant and The Alicia Grill, both awesome eating spots. For our fellow Canadians you need to check out Jolly Rogers as its a bar/pub owned by a Canadian with great food. Also the Checkpoint is owned by a Canadian. Sosua Beach also a 5 min walk is an awesome location for snorkeling and immersing yourself in local culture. Also ask someone about visiting Wilsons on the Ocean lol. We highly recommend this rental from Michael if you are looking for an A1 vacation from start to finish. We will 100% be visiting this location again, but will def be a much longer stay next time. Crystal clear ocean with soft sand.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 11 days at Michaels Los Balcones condo. (C1). It was really hot when we visited so we used air conditioning on and off but most of the time we just opened up the balcony doors and windows throughout the condo and found it just fine. That's what we went down there for....the heat! There is everything you need there...you may want to stop at the Playero (grocery store) to pick up toilet paper, laundry soap and a few staples like milk and bread, butter, coffee and wine! Michael can arrange for Jesus (lovely man) to pick you up at the airport and stop at the Playero on the way to the condo. Don’t get sugar! Lots there. There is a two cup coffee maker there (6 shaken tablespoons - strong but good) and the coffee Santo Domingo Is delish. The wifi password is on the back of the router which is beside the t.v. Very, very small print so be prepared with the glasses ! The bed was very comfortable and linens and towels were all freshly laundered and ready for use. The pool is the best. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the shade and often took our wine (in plastic glasses) down there to watch the sun set. This is a very quiet location. No parties or loud guests. The beach is ....no kidding...perfect. We are beach people and this had almost everything. We rented 2 lounges and an umbrella from Toro on the beach who started at $10.00 but we settled on $7.00 for the day. We heard other people paid less and some more so whatever works for you. Remember you’re there for that beautiful crystal clear water and soft sand....not to get yourself in a knot over a chair. The sand is UNBELIEVABLY HOT so you might want to wear runners instead of sandals. No kidding. The waves were pretty high and rough a few days of our stay but then on other days there was hardly a wave. The Waterfront Restaurant that over looks Playa Alicia had the best chateaubriand for two we've ever eaten! Alicia Grill had the least expensive breakfast $7.00 total for pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee and water. Ask them to put mango in your pancakes! Michael kindly provided a small cooler you can take to the beach with you and we left two ice packs. The town of sosua is quite busy with cars, vans, scooters, motorcycles and ....yep...”Ladies of the Night”. The restaurants and grocery store are all within walking distance but it was suggested to us not to stay out too late after the sun had gone down. We felt safe but always had our eyes open. Hope you love it!

Beautiful Place

This was my third (short) stay and I'll for sure be back, hopefully for longer next time. Michael is a great host and answers any questions very quickly. The property is clean and well maintained. There is a quick access to the beach and there are many amenities close by.
