Contemporary Mid Century Apt in Shaw!

Summary:
A historic neighborhood oasis in the center of everything! With modern, contemporary style, easy metro access and a neighborhood teeming with activity, our ground floor apartment in the historic Shaw District is the ideal base for exploring the city!

The Space:
Our bright ground floor apartment suffers no light lost - with full sized windows that canvas the space, guests can enjoy all of the comforts from home while living like a well situated local! 

We can comfortably sleep 6 guests with:
- a queen sized bed in the master bedroom,
-a trundle bed (opens up to two singles) in the second bedroom,
- a queen sized futon in the living room large enough for 2. We can also provide a portacrib for your traveling infant/toddler upon request. 

Newly renovated with all modern conveniences and finishes, the exterior of the home's original brick support columns and architecture stand in beautiful contrast to the polished mid century modern style space, and all of the modern comforts of home. Scandinavian accents blend with the mid century decor creating a clean, contemporary space ready to make your own. 

Transport yourself from the Nation's capitol to a beachy escape in the master bedroom - complete with en suite bathroom with rain shower head. Vibrant hues of blue, eye-catching accessories, and subtle nods to coastal icons contribute in achieving the cool calm coastal decor of the space. 

The second bedroom is ideal for kiddos with a trundle bed that pulls out to two singles. Super fun "dog selfie" wallpaper makes for a great conversation piece, and guests can see if they can name the various landmarks in the photos! Harkening back to the beachy theme, the "selfies" rest on a wooden planked background - reminiscent of a beach bungalow. 

Gorgeous, full chefs kitchen and a 5 minute walk to grocery stores are perfect features for those hoping to whip up a meal during their stay - but with amazing dining options just around the corner, those less culinarily inclined will have no shortage of options!

The HUGE Smart TV in the interactive living area also comes with Fios cable - perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the city; stream from your Netflix or your personal Hulu, Amazon, HBO accounts and more! 

Perfect for families or folks traveling on business, the apartment also boasts a laptop friendly workspace, high speed Internet, and so much more.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire lower level apartment. It is not shared.

There is a family living upstairs. Please note that the everyday sounds and noises of family life (footsteps, stairs, kids playing, etc.) can be heard in both directions. You will undoubtedly hear them (and they will hear you) as they go about their everyday life.

The Neighborhood:
Venture outside and in addition to restaurants, bars, and nightlife, you are mere steps to main bus and subway lines for Georgetown, The Capitol, White House, Smithsonian, U Street, Adams Morgan, and more.

Getting Around:
We are a 5 minute stroll on foot from the Shaw/Howard Metro Stop and about 14 minutes from the U Street/African American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Station. 
Nearby buses, Capital Bikeshare’s, and Uber’s surround the area - 95% Walk Score!!
Shaw, centered around U Street NW, has been the hub for African-American social, cultural, and economic progress in the nation`s capital! U St is famous for it’s lively music scene and its smorgasbord of dining options. Foodies will have no shortage of choices; from Ben’s Chili Bowl to homemade ice cream at the Ice Cream Jubilee, there’s a little something for everyone!
The neighborhood is very safe - experience the nightlife of U St, and leisurely stroll back to your apartment for some welcome respite.
