Big house close to town

Kings View is a great home close to town. You are able to walk to town, but the hill is very steep. We ended up parking a car in town and then walking down and driving back home. Parking in the driveway is challenging but as another reviewer said once you figure it out it is easy. Check in was super easy. When we arrived it appeared no one had been there for months. After cleaning the next day, everything was great. The house itself is wonderful. Fully equipped kitchen that has been renovated not too long ago. Two of the bathrooms on the main level have also been renovated. The other one on the main floor is adequate. The furnishings, decor, and bedding are all outdated but serviceable. There is a huge walk out basement with two bedrooms. We never went down there. It could be a great space for kids. The internet connection was fabulous and we never had a problem. Smart TV's in living room and bedrooms on the main floor. We had 1 problem with plumbing on the 5th of July and the owners were super responsive and got it taken care of right away. The views from the porch are stunning. Even though we were there in July and it was a very hot month (temps in the 80's during the day and 60's at night), we never felt hot - plenty of fans scattered throughout the house. I would highly recommend Kings View.

Spectacular Views of Grandfather

Kingsview is a great house for families, big groups and pet owners. It’s literally a stones throw to Blowing Rock and all it’s amenities. We hiked the Moses Cone parks ever day. Nice size bedrooms for everyone and two of the bathrooms have been renovated. The downstairs has a pool table, foosball, ping pong and card tables! The yard is not fenced but it’s well marked by the woods and our dogs loved the yard. The kitchen is well equipped and updated. We loved sitting and dining on the deck and arching the sun set! The driveway and parking are a bit tricky to navigate but after a few days we figured it out. There is no cable TV, but you can stream all the popular services. Streaming was frequently interrupted but the owner is working with Spectrum to fix it. The few issues we had were addressed in a timely manner. Overall we loved the house and location and will definitely return in the future!

Beautiful View

Property is a great location and the view from the deck of Grandfather Mountain is amazing. Lots of room and the basement would be nice for kids with a ping pong table, pool table and foozball table. Two of the bathrooms are recently renovated and are beautifully done, as well as the kitchen.

September in Blowing Rock

The property was everything we expected. We had some problems but the owner and property manager were very responsive. Only surprise was being half a mile from downtown we thought we would routinely walk to town, but the terrain required us to drive everywhere. Bottom line: good house for large group and Blowing Rock is delightful.

Great property for a large group!

My family and I LOVED the house, the surrounding area, and the location. We had a large group and everyone had their own space, as far as bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was spacious and the dining room was a great size for our group. The location was prime, 10 mins from skiing (we did a lot of night skiing at App Ski Mountain), close to downtown Blowing Rock (lots of yummy places to eat!) and close to trailheads for hiking (most amazing waterfalls) and the views of Grandfather Mountain were the icing on the cake. The only thing our group commented on was it would have been nice to have an updated TV and more couches/seating downstairs; it is such a great space but there weren't many places to just "flop down" and watch ping pong or foosball games. The owner, Kathy, was incredibly responsive to the several questions we had throughout our time at Kings View.

Great House in a great location

We visited the Blowing Rock area for Christmas 2018. We had 6 adults in the house and we enjoyed it tremendously! Very roomy and the game room provided much activity and time to interact. Near very good restaurants in both Blowing Rock and Boone. Also close enough for us to enjoy some time skiing in the local area. Very clean and nice quiet area! We were lucky to have a light snow the first night that enhanced the Christmas experience. House has a well stocked kitchen for cooking and plenty of bathrooms. Would love to come back again!

Breathtaking Sunsets

This location was everything promised. It is only minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, the Blue Ridge Parkway and about 45 minutes to the Churches of the Frescoes. It was the perfect location for day trips to the surrounding areas. A foray into Blowing Rock (5 minute drive) provides lots of traditional shopping and dining opportunities. You really don't need to bring anything. You'll find the house very comfortable, extremely clean with lots of space. The kitchen is well stocked with loads of pots, pans, and dishes. There was plenty of seating at the dining room table and the living area for the 8 members of our Girls’ Weekend in the Mountains group (priorities for our group). Most of the bedrooms are on the main floor for those who may have trouble navigating steps and the individual room thermostat allows control of the sleeping environment. From the partially covered porch, you can sit and watch sunset over the mountains or have a glass of wine and just visit with friends. Don't forget to check out the house video library and game room. There's something for everyone. You can't miss with this one. Our group uses VRBO a lot and this is absolutely one of the best experiences we have had. Thanks to the Kings for sharing this jewel in Blowing Rock. We will have fond memories of our trip.

Nice house, lots of room, clean

The family stayed here for a wedding in town. Big house, lots of rooms, big group playroom. Great deck. Clean, well appointed, close enough to town. Hard to find in the dark, but that's to be expected in the mountains around BR. Thank you for renting!

Very Spacious

The house was plenty spacious, a TON of room and sleeping accommodations if you're traveling with several groups of people like we were. We loved the updated kitchen and the back porch where we had an amazing view. It was also very convenient to the store and downtown Blowing Rock and Boone. We were a bit disappointed with the game room, which was also huge, because from the pictures it looked to have a lot to do. Unfortunately, the Air Hockey table doesn't work, the ping pong paddles were broken, and there was no fooseball ball. We played pool, which was fine but for such a large group, we were looking forward to the gameroom being fully loaded like we thought in the pictures. The grill was also completely molded over. Overall it was a very nice place, they were flexible with letting us check out a bit later too as we had some people who had flown in with later flights.

Overall a Great Stay but could use a bit of updating

This home was a great location for our family. The layout was perfect for adults to spend time upstairs and our elementary and middle school aged kids to play downstairs. The kitchen was fantastic and well equipped with everything we needed to cook. The dining room had plenty of space for our party of five adults and six kids, and the living room had lots of comfortable seating and a good television for watching movies. The only things missing were more deck seating so we could all enjoy the amazing view and some more box fans to put in the windows to bring in the cool mountain air. I imagine this place would get quite warm in the middle of the summer, even in the mountains. Also, the downstairs could use more comfy seating, an updated television, and probably some new carpet in the bedrooms. It's hard to keep things dry in a mountain home walkout basement, and the main area was more recently updated. But the bedrooms felt quite musty. Even with that, this is a great house for a big group to enjoy Blowing Rock and the surrounding area, and the owners we very attentive when we let them know of a few little repairs that needed to be made.

Perfect for families with children.

Great playroom and a variety of sleeping arrangements. Also great living area for groups to get together for visiting. I think the house had everything imaginable even down to a first aid kit which we needed for a cut finger.

Clean and roomy. Great location.

Enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and nice living room couches. The kitchen was well stocked. Easy check in and check out. Conveniently located to downtown Blowing Rock. Beautiful Mountain View. As previous reviewers mentioned parking is challenging. Basement rooms are windowless. NOTE- this house does not have air condition which is not noted prominently when renting. The house does have ceiling fans and floor fans but late afternoon the house gets quite warm in summer even when temperatures only reach high 70’s. Luckily we had brought several box fans which we were able to place in windows to pull in cool mountain air. The house does have crib, but the mattress is in very poor condition.

Had a great time - loved the house

The house was great and we had only one problem. The gas tank for the grill was empty and we had planned to use it so we had to alter our cooking plans. Otherwise it was great - well stocked kitchen and loved the game room. We would definitely be interested in staying again.

Lots Of Room With A Great View!

We stayed at KingsView for 3 nights with a group of 9 cyclists. It was great to be able to spread out and have room for everyone. The 4 bathrooms made quick work of showering and we never ran out of hot water. The kitchen is nice although somewhat off in a corner by itself. This worked nice to keep the noise of the early birds away from the other birds :) Yes, it's a fairly old house and the floors are somewhat creaky but overall we found it very satisfactory. Kathy was responsive and easy to work with.

Great for medium-large gatherings

Overall it was a great place for a large family gathering. There were several bedrooms and beds, and almost as many bathrooms. The location was great too - very close to downtown and to a grocery store so we could eat in a few nights. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cookware. I especially liked that the living room was set up in a way for large group conversations. We brought two young kids with us, and everything was mostly baby-friendly (we did move a few things to prevent tiny curious fingers from breaking!) We had four cars with us, and that was about as much as we could fit in the driveway, although it looks really big! We had a little trouble at first backing out/turning around in the driveway, but after a few tries everyone seemed to get the hang of it. After taking a neighborhood walk, we realized the parking situation was way better than many of the neighbors had! Would recommmend.

Fun Place to Relax

We had a large group of people staying here for a climbing trip, and this was a great spot to end our days. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out, plenty of beds for everyone to sleep on, enough bathrooms, fun games to play, and a pretty good view. Overall we had a very nice stay.

Awesome place for Multi Family Stay

My wife and I brought our kids along with another couple and their kids (dogs included). We had a wonderful time. Plenty of bedrooms for everyone AND bathrooms as we had 4 teenage girls and 2 moms :). We cooked in 1 night and the game room downstairs has everything for both teenagers and grown-ups. Kitchen had everything you need and more and was very spacious. The view from the back deck is amazing and the location of the home is perfect. We plan to rent this space again later this year. Highly Recommended

About the host

Jack and I live at Lake Norman, just north of Charlotte NC and visit KingsView as often as possible. We are retired, have 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild. We had KingsView listed with a local realtor for the first few years and that is why there are no early reviews.Since we purchased this home we have had many repeat guests - some have visited 6 times.

Why they chose this property

We visited this home many times over 5 years when it was owned by our dear friends from Chattanooga. When they decided to sell, we knew we wanted this wonderful place for our own.

What makes this property unique

This 5300 sq. ft. home easily accommodated 12+ guests with plenty of room for everyone. We love sitting on the deck, whether to read a good book, have a meal, or just a glass of wine. We have a lovely view of Grandfather Mountain and overlook the lights of town at night. The sunsets are spectacular.
