Red Cedar HideAway - Enjoy the beach and the tranquility of nature at its best !
Red Cedar HideAway boasts a light filled airy, open plan living space made from Australian timbers. The house is a pleasant 5 minute amble to Crescent Head Point, Main Beach, Killick Creek, shops and Country Club in the seaside village of Crescent Head. It is a 3 minute walk to Back Beach via a bush path found at the bottom of our garden. Our house is a two storey home with the upper level being available for guest accommodation. It has 2 large bedrooms, an enormous well-stocked kitchen, a lounge room, an entrance hallway, a 3 way bathroom including vanity, bath and shower and a large back veranda with barbecue and outdoor setting for our guests to enjoy. We love our beautiful home but now we are retired we enjoy a simpler life on our farm in the Upper Macleay and so we only return to wash linen and clean for our guests.

We found and checked in very easily thanks to the great instructions. The house was clean and welcoming and Cassie and Jeff had left us a lovely welcome gift and breakfast supplies to help us settle in.House is in a peaceful spot with easy access to back beach. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck to read and relax.also explored the area following sme of the tips in the house info guide.
Our stay at Cassie and Jeff's place in Crescent Head was fantastic! They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, including thoughtful inclusions that exceeded our expectations. The location is easily one of the best in Crescent Head, providing a cozy home with a huge kitchen. The cute sticky notes added a charming touch, and Netflix on the TV was a great way to relax after a long day in the sun. We'll definitely be back!
Cassie & Jeff were very warm and helpful form the start. They messaged us before our check in date to update us on the bad weather forecast and was very accommodating for an earlier check-in.
The place was homely, clean and had everything you needed for a getaway. Spacious living room and kitchen.
The beach and town centre were minutes only minutes away.
Was such a lovely stay, and such friendly hospitality.
Enjoyed staying at Cassie and Jeff’s house, my daughter enjoyed all the little toys and books. The house is in a good location not too far from the shops.
Loved our stay at Cassie and Jeff’s place. The house was very clean and my children loved all the trinkets, toys and books. It felt like a we were in a tree-house. Balcony view is gorgeous and the location is amazing if you’re not keen on the business of the caravan park.
This was a return stay for us and we absolutely loved it again! The owners of the property are amazing people and we felt so looked after! Their communication was flawless, location excellent and Crescent Head is amazing! Loved every minute - thank you!
Spacious, quiet and comfortable, Red Cedar Hideaway was a welcome break from the hustle bustle for us. We particularly enjoyed eating and reading on the back deck looking out through the trees in the company of the local birdlife. Very relaxing! Our hosts were welcoming and generous and we felt at home right away. The house is well equipped and set up and staying organised was easy. Highly recommend as a quiet retreat in busy Crescent Head!
We had a lovely stay at Cassie and Jeffs house. The house was spotless, and so well stocked with more than the basics one could need to arrive and have a tea (in a tpot) or a real coffee machine coffee and rattle up some sandwiches (Cassie had fresh butter in the fridge) for the family. The fridge had real milk and there was fresh fruit and cereal. There was even a lovely little surprise gift on arrival (not telling...its an extremely thoughtful gesture and unexpected!) Great views over the trees below the deck, (were said gift could be enjoyed.) Very comfy beds, crispy sheets and soft colourful towels provided, which in Crescent Head is not always the case. Cassie and Jeff made everything very easy, check in and opening up the house ran so smoothly. Great place to be away from the crowds swarming around the shops and beach in town....but just a very short drive down to the best pies around! So good!
Cannot thanks Jeff and Cassie enough for everything! We had the best holiday as a family in the beautiful crescent head! Loved the house and the quirkiness that come with it! Brilliant size rooms and WIFI / Netflix was a welcomed feature! We love crescent head and will definitely be back, this house is litterally around the corner in a beautiful quiet street! Highly recommend to all!
This house was perfect for our young family. The kids loved exploring all of the nooks and cupboards full of trinkets and toys. The grown-ups loved relaxing on the deck overlooking bushland and listening to the birdlife. The warm welcome on arrival, breakfast pack and wine were wonderful touches. The house was sparkling clean and very well equipped. And the Crescent Head beaches are just devine. Would definitely return!
The place was very clean and homely with a fantastic balcony with bush views at the rear of the property. We found the Owners very welcoming and excellent to deal with. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

About the host
Hosted by Cassie and Jeff Black
We are a retired couple who have enjoyed over forty years living in Crescent Head. We built our home in the eighties and it is unique in that it has no gyprock walls at all. It is entirely made of Australian timbers. Jeff spent many years as a floor sander and the floors are an example of the pride he took in his work. Having raised our family in this home we now enjoy retirement on our farm an hours drive up into the hills. We return to wash linen, clean and mow lawns but when guests are here we allow them the privacy they need.
Why they chose this property
Red Cedar HideAway is a delightful place to stay for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. The Australian red cedar tree we planted when we built the house in 1983 now provides welcome shade and a home for the native birds. It is peaceful to sit on the back deck watching the birdlife and listening to the waves wash up onto the shore at backbeach. The rooms are large and welcoming with the kitchen well stocked, easily embracing the whole family. Recently we connected Starlink to allow our guests very fast internet access so that if they need to work or check to monitor work related business it is easily done.
What makes this property unique
Being located at the upper part of Skyline Crescent means those afternoon sea breezes are able to be enjoyed on hot, summer days. There are delightful walks leading from the bottom of the backyard to the beach either along the bush track that descends to Backbeach corner or along the road that leads up to the water tower where a 360 view of the ocean is to be savoured . From here a track winds down to the golf course and the village centre, where an ice-cream or cool drink can be enjoyed before discovering another route up to the house!
