Come stay the night in the gorgeous Harbor View rental in Southwest Harbor, Maine! Harbor View is located just minutes outside of downtown Southwest Harbor on a hill overlooking the beautiful port that gives the town it’s name. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the spacious porch while watching local lobster-fishermen leave the harbor beneath a Maine sunrise or maybe a refreshing cold beverage while admiring the view of the Cranberry Islands. Harbor View can hold eleven guests comfortably, making it perfect for a multiple family getaway, and several TVs and living areas make for wonderful nights together enjoying games and movies. The incredible location of Harbor View in what is known as “The Quietside” of Mount Desert Island is possibly the largest advantage of the property. Southwest Harbor used to be a small fishing village and retains a vibrant small-town fishing community. A five minute walk to downtown Southwest Harbor allows you to spend time exploring local restaurants and shops. The Quietside is packed with some of Acadia National Park’s most beautiful hiking trails and views, including the famous Bass Harbor Lighthouse, and the gorgeous lakes of Long Pond and Echo Lake, which are perfect for swimming during warm summer months. Harbor View is just a fifteen minute drive from downtown Bar Harbor and the countless restaurants that the town holds while also allowing you to avoid the overwhelming cruise ship traffic and packed atmosphere of Bar Harbor in the summer months. Southwest Harbor provides its own opportunities for both private boat rentals and fishing tours on the untouched waters in the Gulf of Maine. The core of the house itself was built in the 1920s and retains the historic style while more recent additions including a full second floor and kitchen seamlessly blend modern living with historic building design. The first floor contains a kitchen, equipped with all necessary appliances, a living room and two bedrooms, one with a twin and bunkbeds and one with a double. The living room displays wonderful panoramic views of the Harbor through windows that illuminate the entire downstairs in natural light. The upstairs has a living area of its own equipped with a TV and sleeper sofa. Two more bedrooms allow for more comfortable sleeping room and the views from the master are unbeatable anywhere else in the house.

Clean, cozy and convenient to all Mount Desert Island has to offer. This property afforded us the opportunity to spend quality time together with three generations of family members. The location is convenient, offering something for every one of any age.
This home is lovely. This was my 3rd time staying at this property. The owners are attentive and responsive. The home is clean, well equipped and in a great location. A wonderful place to create memories.
We were in town for a busy family reunion so didn’t spend much time at the house, but it had everything we needed for a restful sleep, a well-stocked kitchen where we could cook, and two full baths with plenty of soft, thick towels. It had a great view of the harbor. Breakfast on the deck was a treat. The furniture was really comfy and the location was convenient to the center of town.
Very good decor; fine furniture and appliances. I would love to return for another stay. Weather was challenging but enjoyed the coziness of the home ambiance. Only challenge was the loose kitchen handle needs ? Allen wrench which I did not have with me.
Beautiful Home, very cozy, very comfortable, beautifully decorated. Wonderfully quiet and WIFI worked great for our business emails, ZOOMS, etc. Thank you for a great stay in your beautiful home!
Beautiful, cozy house, met all of our needs, well, equipped, wonderful location. Easy access to Acadia, National Park and Bar Harbor. We would definitely stay there again. Shelley is a wonderful host, quick to respond to any questions or concerns.
This is a wonderful property and the host was so helpful and responsive. We were able to relax and have an amazing time with my daughter and my son/2 grandchildren. The amenities were perfect. This was our second time at this house and would love to stay again. Perfect location to do anything on the island. All our favorite quiet side sites are close by.
This was our 2nd time staying at Harbor View and it was perfect! The house is roomy and comfortable. There is room for everyone to spread out and relax. Shelly is a wonderful host who takes care of every detail. We are returning in July 2024. A perfect place for a vacation
We wished we could have stayed longer - so many great places to hike and explore in the area. Shelley has great maps, advice and books on best places in the area - all so close to the house. The house was perfect for 5 of us to cook, gather in the living room. Great deck but a little too cool to take much advantage of it.
This home was perfect for our stay in Maine! We loved the small town vibe of Southwest Harbor and would certainly stay here, again! Shelley was great to work with and the home has a beautiful view, overlooking the harbor!
Great house in a wonderful location on the “quiet side” of Acadia. Shelley was very responsive and has the house set up perfectly for a very comfortable stay! I would definitely stay here again!
Had a wonderful stay in a beautiful location. The house has views of the harbor and was equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was so easy to be able to unwind and relax here with family. Close to everything southwest harbor has to offer and a short drive to other parts of Acadia and bar harbor. So sad to see our vacation end - would stay here again in a heartbeat. The house was perfect for our 3 generations - myself, my son, and 2 grandkids as well as our dog.
We loved this property in the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island. Much more spacious than the pictures would reveal, with a great living space and work space for remote work in the upstairs, and additional space on the main floor for our teenagers and for general hanging out. Short walking distance to the Main Street of Southwest Harbor, where there were nice restaurants, an ice cream shop, and our resident bike shop. Close to all of our activities in nearby Echo Lake, Long Pond, and close enough to Bar Harbor and the carriage roads for biking. Really nice location for everything we needed. Shelley was a great host.
The house was perfect for our family and extended family. There were multiple living spaces where people could go and hang out. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the harbor and also the fire pit! There were so many amenities included - no need to lug towels, linens, paper goods, etc. Plenty of parking room for all of our cars. Beds were really comfortable. Highly recommend this property!
We had an amazing week! The house is so warm and inviting. The moment we arrived we were relaxed. The view from the deck is spectacular. The hosts are responsive and so helpful. We were able to walk into Southwest Harbor for ice cream and dinner. We can't wait to return!
Perfect week in a perfect location. This home had everything we could have hoped for a more. Host was so helpful with any questions we had. Would love another opportunity to return some day.
House was clean and as advertised. Very comfortable in the winter months and close to the beauty of Acadia. Shelley was very responsive to texts and e-mails and helped with important local info
We were looking for a little Thanksgiving escape to MDI and ended up in the perfect location. The house was spotless and spacious. The two living room spaces (one up and one down) made it very easy to let everyone enjoy the rainy afternoon. The location was excellent as Southwest Harbor had just enough open to get get us through the visit, and we were so close to great hiking trails for short legs (Wonderland and Ships Harbor). Great stay, very nice host! We got a call within an hour of departing that I had dropped two rings while packing- and she offered to send them.

My husband, myself and our two boys recently purchased Harbor View. I was born and raised here and my husband moved here as a young boy.
Why they chose this property
My family has a lot of history in Southwest Harbor. I run the local hardware store which my grandfather started over 50 years ago. My boys lobster out of Southwest Harbor in the summer and we all hold this town near and dear to our heart
