We enjoyed our stay in this house. it is the right size for us, and it is not far from the ski mountain. The only issue we had was there is not mobile coverage in that area, which is not related to the house. we will rent the house again in future if we come back.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Nice property, lacking communication
The property was as described as was clean. The bedrooms were big enough for my family. There were some questionable electrical choices, like three prong power taps plugged into two prong outlets. It was not advertised, but it would have been nice to have access to a dryer, especially since the owner advertises the property as close to ski resorts. The location and neighborhood were fine, but the roads were not in great condition after the recent snowfall. I understand the owner can’t do anything about this, but it’s just something for future clients to keep in mind. The check-in and communication was lacking. The owner did not tell us how to access the property until 8pm, which was four hours after check in. Also, the owner did not answer my initial email and phone calls about how to enter the property, I had to escalate to VRBO customer service. When the owner did finally contact me, she offered me a discount because of her lack of communication; however, I never received the discount (at least at the time of this writing, two days after we checked out).

Location is great for skiing Windham
Overall we had a nice time at the house. It was great for our family of 4 in terms of space and bedrooms. It's a 10 min drive to Windham mountain so perfect for a ski weekend. Be sure to read the fine print - there is a TV but no cable. Being there Superbowl Weekend - that was not ideal.
The house is a great option for the price for those looking to stay nearby Hunter or Windham. The house has many of thee amenities for a comfortable stay. I was, however, surprised that there is no cable TV. The wifi is fine so can utilize internet as an option, but the TVs are old so can’t even use a USB port. I would recommend the owner upgrade the TVs and DVD player. Both are quite inexpensive these days. I wished there was a dishwasher. Spending time washing dishes for a family of 5 is not what I’d prefer doing on vacation. The owners are very accommodating and easy to contact.
Welcoming and quaint home, space for our family of 4 to spread out and relax. Great location for Windham & Hunter! Wifi hit the spot for everyone’s gadgets, and we appreciated the owner reaching out about winter storm.
The house was charming and perfect for a one-family getaway. The owners are very responsive and communicative. Every need was provided and the house has a lot of room for a great price. Extremely clean!!!
My stay was a great experience, however something to note is that in basically every room there are notes of things you can and can’t do. Some of the asks seemed rather unreasonable, for example they asked that we not sit or use the bed spread or specific pillows. I wish they would just have left bedding that could be used even if it didn’t look as nice. Although overall, it was a good place to stay.
The house is very close to great fall foliage viewing locations. The hill in front of the house is very pretty right outside the windows and porch. There are instructions everywhere regarding how to manage lights and kitchen and so on, very helpful to avoid ambiguity.
One thing that was minor inconvenience was that there is no wifi (as specified in listing) but also cellular network is close to none, on Verizon and T-Mobile. I didn’t see this in any review so I was a bit unprepared. We would drive out 10 minutes and get LTE to search for hikes etc.
also, GPS location based on address maybe a bit off from actual house. Follow directions provided by owner.
I would come back definitely when traveling here with a small group.
Owner very Accommodating
and home had a very comfortable feel. We enjoyed relaxing, skiing and having a comfortable home to return too.
Thank you,

Our family had a lovey time at this home. Owners were very responsive and helpful. We spent one day at Hunter Mountain and the other at Windham which was really nice to be able to do both in one trip. There is WiFi available (our confirmation email stated there was no WiFi but owners confirmed that there indeed is). Would have loved a baking sheet/cookie sheet to cook some dinner items in their very clean oven. Overall great for our needs!

Lovely house. Great rooms. A lot of character, very cozy and homey.
My family of four enjoyed the house. It has a nice touch of home with lots of character. It is very homey with great accommodations and three very nice rooms. Just what we needed for our ski trip. Closest to Windham and also close to Hunter Mountain. The host was very communicative and friendly. It was nice to be unplugged but having WiFi (and maybe cable TV) would be a huge plus.

Rent in summer
Excellent property, well located for enjoying Bike Park and Elm Ridge Park. Very good disposition of its owner. The only problem was an error in the information of the publication, since the service of Wi-Fi and Tv is only available in winter season.

Felt like home
Cozy, quaint, convenient to Ski Windham. Perfect for a family to have a nice weekend. We enjoyed having a separate room for the kids to hang out in but enough room to have all five of us together in the main living room. The owners were even kind enough to offer to send us a few items we left behind. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to the area.

Comfortable, charming older house
Far better than staying in a cookie-cutter condo or hotel! We only stayed here for two nights in late summer, but the house was perfect for the short stay. A fully stocked kitchen allowed us to cook in when we wished, and the house is situated a short drive from Windham where there are a couple coffee shops and restaurants. Typical August weather made it a little hot and humid but there are a couple fans provided which made all the difference. Thanks to Eleanor for a great stay!

I stayed here for about a week the end of Oct. into Nov. It was past prime autumn leaf season and I was surprised how much colorful foliage was still there. The house is comfortable and homey. I didn't do much cooking while there, but the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook up a meal. Appliances look brand new and there are plenty of glasses, dishes, pots, etc. It was unseasonably warm for the time of year and I wound up having coffee and breakfast on the big front porch a couple of times.
Bed was comfortable and bathroom had plenty of towels and lots of amenities. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and is nicely decorated. There are a lot of windows throughout the house so it was quite bright and cheery on sunny days. Would be a great location for ski season - Windham Mt. is only 3 or 4 miles away and Hunter Mt. is 8 or 9. Also should be nice in summer because it's on a large lot with open space and woods in the back and a creek across the street. Ideal for fall foliage time, too. The Catskills are just as beautiful as Vermont and New Hampshire but don't get the bumper to bumper foliage traffic.
There's no WiFi yet, but Nanna Gails's restaurant in Hensonville is a mile down the road and has WiFi - not to mention great breakfasts! Also, Higher Grounds coffee shop has WiFi and is about 3 miles away next to an 18-hole golf course (near Windham Mt).
I would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Ray and Eleanor Rowe Gentilini
This is the family home where my brothers and sister and I grew up. We all began and graduated from school in Windham. My parents had moved to the Catskills from Queens in 1945, but the home had been in the family since it was built. My husband and I purchased the home from my parents the year before they passed away. While living overseas with the military, it was a place for various family members to enjoy over the years. It has more recently been made available for vacationing families when we are not using it ourselves.
What makes this property unique
While the town itself is not much bigger than when we were children, the available activities and amenities have increased greatly - skiing & biking, galleries & music festivals, summer art projects & more golfing - plus many fine restaurants within 5 miles of our home.
